Industry Classification Based on Labor Mobility Network Mining

    Get PDF
Industry classification is important for industry analysis and competitive intelligence. However, existing schemes and methods are limited by the small number of industry categories and the lagged information of firms’ business. In this paper, we propose a novel industry classification method by constructing the labor mobility network from the LinkedIn profiles. We also propose a hierarchical extension of the community detection algorithm to better discover latent industry clusters on the constructed network. The evaluation conducted on real-world datasets shows that our method outperforms the best existing industry classification scheme and the state-of-the-art method and improves their explanatory power by 8.31% and 3.97% respectively. Moreover, our method is effective in earlier revealing firms’ action of entering new industries

Epidemic Spreading Characteristics and Immunity Measures Based on Complex Network with Contact Strength and Community Structure

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), bursting in South Korea from May 2015 and mainly spreading within the hospitals at the beginning, has caused a large scale of public panic. Aiming at this kind of epidemic spreading swiftly by intimate contact within community structure, we first established a spreading model based on contact strength and SI model, and a weighted network with community structure based on BBV network model. Meanwhile, the sufficient conditions were deduced to ensure the optimal community division. Next, after the verification by the real data of MERS, it is found that the spreading rate is closely related to the average weight of network but not the number of communities. Then, as the further study shows, the final infection proportion declines with the decreases both in isolation delay and in average weight; however, this proportion can only be postponed rather than decreased with respect to sole average weight reduction without isolation. Finally, the opportunities to take action can be found to restrain the epidemic spreading to the most extent

The evaluation of experimental data in fast range for n + 56

Iron is one of the five materials selected for evaluation within the pilot international evaluation project CIELO. Analysis of experimental data for n+56Fe reaction is the basis for constraining theoretical calculations and eventual creation of the evaluated file. The detail analysis was performed for inelastic cross sections of neutron induced reactions with 56Fe in the fast range up to 20 MeV where there are significant differences among the main evaluated libraries, mainly caused by the different inelastic scattering cross section measurements. Gamma-ray production cross sections provide a way to gain experimental information about the inelastic cross section. Large discrepancies between experimental data for the 847-keV gamma ray produced in the 56Fe(n,n1'γ) reaction were analyzed. In addition, experimental data for elastic scattering cross section between 9.41∼11 MeV were used to deduce the inelastic cross section from the unitarity constrain

Occupational exposure to formaldehyde, hematotoxicity and leukemia-specific chromosome changes in cultured myeloid progenitor cells - Response

There are concerns about the health effects of formaldehyde exposure, including carcinogenicity, in light of elevated indoor air levels in new homes and occupational exposures experienced by workers in health care, embalming, manufacturing and other industries. Epidemiological studies suggest that formaldehyde exposure is associated with an increased risk of leukemia. However, the biological plausibility of these findings has been questioned because limited information is available on formaldehyde’s ability to disrupt hematopoietic function. Our objective was to determine if formaldehyde exposure disrupts hematopoietic function and produces leukemia-related chromosome changes in exposed humans. We examined the ability of formaldehyde to disrupt hematopoiesis in a study of 94 workers in China (43 exposed to formaldehyde and 51 frequency-matched controls) by measuring complete blood counts and peripheral stem/progenitor cell colony formation. Further, myeloid progenitor cells, the target for leukemogenesis, were cultured from the workers to quantify the level of leukemia-specific chromosome changes, including monosomy 7 and trisomy 8, in metaphase spreads of these cells. Among exposed workers, peripheral blood cell counts were significantly lowered in a manner consistent with toxic effects on the bone marrow and leukemia-specific chromosome changes were significantly elevated in myeloid blood progenitor cells. These findings suggest that formaldehyde exposure can have an adverse impact on the hematopoietic system and that leukemia induction by formaldehyde is biologically plausible, which heightens concerns about its leukemogenic potential from occupational and environmental exposures

Thermal design optimization and analysis on heating load of rural buildings in northern China

The envelope of rural buildings has been lack of effective and reasonable thermal insulation method and therefore its energy consumption has always been high. In order to address this problem, this paper aims to optimize the thermal design of building envelope. The simulation using DesignBuilder software for modeling and analyzing, using the orthogonal experimental design method to study the effects of external wall, external window and roof on heating load, and optimal thermal insulation scheme was obtained, which was 100mm PUF (external wall), 6mm+12mm+6mm low-E glass (external window) and 100mm PUF (roof). Results revealed that the addition of sunspace can significantly reduce the heating load and thus the selection of window thermal insulation material is very important. Compared with the condition of highest heating load, the energy-efficient rate of optimal scheme reached to 21.4%. The results of this study will serve as the idea for optimal design of rural buildings envelope

Detection of Landfill Leachate Leakage Based on ERT and OCTEM

    No full text
Leakage in the impervious layer of a domestic waste landfill seriously pollutes the soil and groundwater. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out rapid nondestructive leakage location detection. In this research, the electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) method and the opposing-coils transient electromagnetic method (OCTEM) were used to detect the leakage location. The inversion sections of both methods showed a clear low–middle–high resistivity spectrum in the longitudinal direction that could be used to speculate the distribution pattern of the upper waste body layer, the bottom impermeable layer, and the lower limestone layer. The leakage area was identified in Zone B of the landfill on the basis of inversion results and drilling verification results. The results indicate that OCTEM and ERT were both sensitive to leakage detection. However, OCTEM had higher longitudinal resolution and more refined inversion results, resulting in more effective delineation for the location of the damage and leakage of the impervious landfill layer, thereby providing a new technical basis for landfill leakage detection

Research progress of procyanidins in repairing cartilage injury after anterior cruciate ligament tear

    No full text
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear is a common sports-related injury, and cartilage injury always emerges as a serious complication following ACL tear, significantly impacting the physical and psychological well-being of affected individuals. Over the years, efforts have been directed toward finding strategies to repair cartilage injury after ACL tear. In recent times, procyanidins, known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, have emerged as potential key players in addressing this concern. This article focuses on summarizing the research progress of procyanidins in repairing cartilage injury after ACL tear. It covers the roles, mechanisms, and clinical significance of procyanidins in repairing cartilage injury following ACL tear and explores the future prospects of procyanidins in this domain. This review provides novel insights and hope for the repair of cartilage injury following ACL tear
