Distinctive-attribute Extraction for Image Captioning
Image captioning, an open research issue, has been evolved with the progress
of deep neural networks. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and recurrent
neural networks (RNNs) are employed to compute image features and generate
natural language descriptions in the research. In previous works, a caption
involving semantic description can be generated by applying additional
information into the RNNs. In this approach, we propose a distinctive-attribute
extraction (DaE) which explicitly encourages significant meanings to generate
an accurate caption describing the overall meaning of the image with their
unique situation. Specifically, the captions of training images are analyzed by
term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF), and the analyzed semantic
information is trained to extract distinctive-attributes for inferring
captions. The proposed scheme is evaluated on a challenge data, and it improves
an objective performance while describing images in more detail.Comment: 14 main pages, 4 supplementary page
The current status and future challenges of social work education in South Korea
The growth in the number of social workers in the past six decades has been accompanied by a dramatic shift in social work education in South Korea. However, the quality of social work education was not fully considered. Thus, this chapter sets out the history and current status of social work education in South Korea, and discusses the contemporary challenges and the future of social work education in South Korea. First, current status and issues regarding academic programs, curricula, field education, and the social work licensure system are addressed. The challenges for social work education in South Korea are then discussed. The areas of accreditation reviews to verify each program, course development beyond the licensure examination, the improvement in the quality of field education, and efforts to improve social work competencies are all then examined
Conjugated polyelectrolytes: A new class of semiconducting material for organic electronic devices
AbstractThis feature article presents a short review of the recent developments in the synthesis of conjugated polyelectrolytes (CPEs) along with their applications in organic optoelectronic devices with particular focus on the molecular structures of CPEs with ionic functionality, synthetic approaches, and their utilization as an interfacial layer. The orthogonal solubility of the CPEs allows the simple preparation of multilayer organic devices by solution casting on top of a nonpolar organic photoactive layer without disturbing the interfaces, showing their effectiveness in tuning the electronic structures at the interfaces for improving the charge carrier transport and resulting device properties. These achievements highlight the dynamic nature of CPEs and their applicability to a wide range of optoelectronic devices
Chiral orbital-angular-momentum in the surface states of Bi2Se3
Locking of the spin of a quasi-particle to its momentum in split bands of on
the surfaces of metals and topological insulators (TIs) is understood in terms
of Rashba effect where a free electron in the surface states feels an effective
magnetic field. On the other hand, the orbital part of the angular momentum
(OAM) is usually neglected. We performed angle resolved photoemission
experiments with circularly polarized lights and first principles density
functional calculation with spin-orbit coupling on a TI, Bi2Se3, to study the
local OAM of the surface states. We show from the results that OAM in the
surface states of Bi2Se3 is significant and locked to the electron momentum in
opposite direction to the spin, forming chiral OAM states. Our finding opens a
new possibility to have strong light-induced spin-polarized current in the

Antibiotic-induced Severe Neutropenia with Multidrug-Dependent Antineutrophil Antibodies Developed in A Child with Streptococcus pneumoniae Infection
Drug-induced neutropenia (DIN), particularly that in which antibiotic-dependent antineutrophil antibodies have been detected, is a rare disorder. We report the case of a child with pneumococcal pneumonia, who experienced severe neutropenia during various antibiotic treatments. We detected 4 kinds (cefotaxim, augmentin, vancomycin, and tobramycin) of antibiotic-dependent antineutrophil antibodies by using the mixed passive hemagglutination assay (MPHA) technique with this child
Synchronous double primary malignant tumor of the gallbladder and liver: a case report
We report a case of synchronous double primary tumor of gallbladder and liver. A 63-year-old male was admitted to the hospital complaining of abdominal discomfort. Enhanced computed tomography of the abdomen showed acute cholecystitis with tiny gallbladder stones and a 2.2 cm size enhanced nodule in the left lobe of the liver. Under the impression of acute cholecystitis with gall bladder stones and hepatocellular carcinoma of the left Liver, the patient underwent a laparotomy. At laparotomy, a mass was palpated on the surface of the neck portion of the gall bladder. Intraoperative frozen diagnosis revealed adenocarcinoma of the gall bladder. The patient was diagnosed as having gall bladder cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma, so extended cholecystectomy with dissection of regional lymph nodes and left hemihepatectomy were performed. Histological examination revealed moderated differentiated adenocarcinoma of gallbladder and hepatocellular carcinoma of liver. To our knowledge, the simultaneous occurrence of primary malignant tumor of the gallbladder and liver has never been published before. The patient is doing well with no evidence of recurrence 17 months after surgery
