A secure cryptographic algorithm against side channel attacks

    Get PDF
Historically, a computing resource is scarce and expensive. In the last few decades, considerable efforts have been made to design efficient codes in terms of the storage space and running time. Due to the progress on computing resources and low cost of memory, an efficient algorithm has ironically become a vulnerable threat to cryptographic operations. An efficient unbalanced code opens another room for side channel attacks on the private key of public key infrastructure (PKI). This paper shall highlight and propose balanced secure algorithms for cryptographic operations to avoid feasible side channel attacks in the immediate future

Computer vision systems have found wide application in foods processing industry to perform quality evaluation. The systems enable to replace human inspectors for the evaluation of a variety of quality attributes. This paper describes the implementation of the Fast Fourier Transform and Kalman filtering algorithms to detect the glutinous rice flour slurry (GRFS) gelatinization in an enzymatic âdodol. processing. The onset of the GRFS gelatinization is critical in determining the quality of an enzymatic âdodol.. Combinations of these two algorithms were able to detect the gelatinization of the GRFS. The result shows that the gelatinization of the GRFS was at the time range of 11.75 minutes to 14.75 minutes for 24 batches of processing. This paper will highlight the capability of computer vision using our proposed algorithms in monitoring and controlling of an enzymatic âdodol. processing via image processing technology

For the last two semesters we have been conducting a research on the law of male rape in Malaysia and other jurisdictions namely in United Kingdom, United States, Singapore and Australia. In our research we concentrated on both form of the crime which is sodomy and female raping male issue. Seemingly, the latter form of male rape is being taken lightly around the world. Nonetheless we found that the law of sodomy is getting the recognition it deserved although the development has been slow and still in some area, insufficient. Therefore it is fundamental for a research to be conducted on this topic. The importance of enacting such laws therefore can be analyzed as a whole. In Malaysia, we have tried to analyze and discuss Section 377 of the Penal Code thoroughly in order to ascertain its effectiveness in combating the crime of sodomy. The result is in the negative. Thus, amending the section or enacting a new and more extensive law is practical and much needed. In completing our project paper, we have distributed questionnaires concerning male rape to 400 respondents. The outcome of the questionnaires is as we expected. A majority of the respondents is aware of such crime but still obscure regarding the law that govern the offence. Among the important questions that were asked in the questionnaires was whether the respondents are aware that a female rapist may escape scot-free from the crime of male rape and whether a specific provision on male rape should be enacted in the Penal Code. We benefited a lot from the answers that we managed to gather through the questionnaires. However, our research is also based on our readings of various books and materials that we find in online. After two semesters, we finally finished doing our project paper on a comparative study on the law of male rape in Malaysia and other jurisdictions

This study presents a structured literature review of an effective internal control system. The purpose of this study is to explore and review articles in the field of internal control effectiveness using the Guthrie, Ricceri and Dumay (2012)’s framework. The literature indicates that effective internal control can reasonably reduce business risks and prevent occurrence of fraud. This paper reports findings, based on articles on internal control effectiveness published from 2000 to 2018. The review process was conducted in five stages, (1) formulation of research objectives to determine the classifications, boundaries, and definition; (2) the selection of journals; (3) the examination of the title and abstract of selected articles; (4) pilot test and adapted classification and (5) the classification to establish a range of descriptive statistics in order to understand the patterns emerging from the reviewed articles. The finding provide a basis for several aspects of future research of internal control effectiveness in assessing business risks for prevention of fraud

Gender Disparity in School Participation and Achievement: The Case in Malaysia

    Get PDF
AbstractGender differences with regard to academic performance remain one of the more challenging issues in educational research. Gender disparity in education has traditionally focus on the under participation of girls and still is in some parts of the world. In a number of countries, including Malaysia, gender disparity in basic and higher education are in favor of girls both in terms of participation and performance. The dual purpose of this paper is to address and to understand the nature of the issue by analyzing the trends of student participation and performance; and secondly, to seek whether student engagement and burnout are possible factors contributing to school dropout and low achievement. There are evidence in the literature to show student engagement and student burnout accounted for gender differences in school performance. The results of the analysis of secondary data reflected a trend that shows girls outperformed boys in national examinations across school levels and types. These trends are confirmed by results of a survey of the level of student engagement and student burnout on a sample of students aged 12, 14 and 16 which seems to suggest that boys are less engaged than girls, and experience more burnout. The findings are discussed in the context of developing support for students, particularly boys, to be more engaged, and less burnout in school and in learning

This study presents an empirical analysis of control activities among Malaysian manufacturing SMEs in managing risk of employee fraud for sustainable future SMEs. Continuous measurement, monitoring and evaluation of control activities are regarded as the basis to form effective controls against employee fraud. This study is based on an in-depth case study that examines how an organisation forms a good foundation of control activities to curb employee fraud in SMEs. Semi-structure interview was conducted with the owner of the three manufacturing SMEs from Food and Beverage industry. This study identifies and summarises the current control activities based on (1) response to objectives and risks, (2) design of appropriate types of control activities at various levels, and (3) segregation of duties. The result shows that most of the manufacturing SMEs implement control activities partially automated through the entity’s information technology system. This study provides a basis for several aspects of future research on other component of internal control by integrating each component in assessing business risk and explanation towards SME sustainability

    Get PDF
In this modern internet generation, routing protocol plays an important role. The Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is an advanced protocol for distance-vector routing used on a computer network to simplify routing and configuration decisions. Data packets are transmitted from router to router via internet networks before they reach their destination device on the Internet. The main objective of this paper is to configure and monitor the network by the provider. The protocol implemented, EIGRP is analyzed using the GNS3 software.  In GNS3 software, the setup includes routers and hosts is simulated to display a network that consists of three areas. It analyzed the ping test, display neighbours and topology table, and the number packet received and sent. As a result, the simulated protocol, EIGRP show acceptable performance with hellos sent/received packets are 3544/1766, 144/143 and 6383/2107 of a router; R1, R2, and R3 respectively. In conclusion, EIGRP is the best in routing protocol and provide excellent internetworking

Influential determinants of international students' satisfaction in higher education

    Get PDF
It has been argued that international students’ satisfaction level is crucial in measuring HEIs performance in the globalized higher education market. However, as satisfaction level is hard to define because it is based on students’ perception and experience, there is a need for HEIs to continually investigate and identify the factors that contribute to students’ satisfaction. Hence, this study seeks to identify the influential determinants of international students’ satisfaction in higher education and to examine the relationships between perception, costs, reputation, lecturers’ expertise, learning environment, facilities and course structure towards international students’ satisfaction. A total of 281 international postgraduate students at public HEI in Malaysia participated in this study. Data of this study was to examine using the Multiple Regression Analysis. Results of the study revealed learning environment factor as the most influential determinant of international students’ satisfaction. Results also proved that except for costs and reputation, other service quality factors namely, perception, lecturers’ expertise, facilities, learning environment, and course structure were found to influence international students’ satisfaction significantly. This study provides insights to HEIs to better design their internationalization strategies and bridge the academic gap by highlighting the importance of continuously improving the learning environment in HEIs to increase international students’ satisfaction
