In the title compound, C14H10FN3O, the six- and five-membered rings of the isatin moiety and the six-membered ring of phenylhydrazone are nearly planar with r.m.s. deviations of 0.0003, 0.0004 and 0.007 Å, respectively. The dihedral angle between the phenyl ring and the isatin ring system is 6.09 (9)°. The molecular structure is stabilized by a strong intramolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond, leading to the formation of a pseudo-six-membered ring, generating an S(6) ring. The crystal structure features intermolecular N—H⋯O interactions

Mitochondrial BNIP3 upregulation precedes endonuclease G translocation in hippocampal neuronal death following oxygen-glucose deprivation

Abstract

Background

Caspase-independent apoptotic pathways are suggested as a mechanism for the delayed neuronal death following ischemic insult. However, the underlying signalling mechanisms are largely unknown. Recent studies imply the involvement of several mitochondrial proteins, including endonuclease G (EndoG) and Bcl-2/adenovirus E1B 19 kDa-interacting protein (BNIP3), in the pathway of non-neuronal cells.

Results

In this report, using western blot analysis and immunocytochemistry, we found that EndoG upregulates and translocates from mitochondria to nucleus in a time-dependent manner in cultured hippocampal neurons following oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD). Moreover, the translocation of EndoG occurs hours before the observable nuclear pyknosis. Importantly, the mitochondrial upregulation of BNIP3 precedes the translocation of EndoG. Forced expression of BNIP3 increases the nuclear translocation of EndoG and neuronal death while knockdown of BNIP3 decreases the OGD-induced nuclear translocation of EndoG and neuronal death.

Conclusion

These results suggest that BNIP3 and EndoG play important roles in hippocampal neuronal apoptosis following ischemia, and mitochondrial BNIP3 is a signal protein upstream of EndoG that can induce neuronal death.</p

Research on Quality Dynamics and Shelf Life Prediction of Yogurt under Different Storage Conditions

In order to study the dynamic law of the quality change in low temperature yogurts, yogurts were stored at temperatures of 4 ℃,15 ℃,25 ℃ and 30 ℃ respectively, and the changes in protein level, fat level, acidity level, particle size, color, texture and total number of colonies were observed. The regression equation analysis shows that the changes of a* redness value (at 15℃,25℃ and 30 ℃),total color difference ΔE,colony number (at 4 ℃,15 ℃ and 25 ℃),softness and consistency (at 15 ℃ and 25 ℃)match the Zero-order kinetic model, while the changes of titratable acidity and b* yellowness value match the First-order kinetic model. The established shelf-life prediction model equation provides insights in the adjustment of storage and transportation conditions of low-temperature milk products,as well as quality monitoring during the storage period

The LAMOST Complete Spectroscopic Survey of Pointing Area (LaCoSSPAr) in the Southern Galactic Cap I. The Spectroscopic Redshift Catalog

We present a spectroscopic redshift catalog from the LAMOST Complete Spectroscopic Survey of Pointing Area (LaCoSSPAr) in the Southern Galactic Cap (SGC), which is designed to observe all sources (Galactic and extra-galactic) by using repeating observations with a limiting magnitude of r=18.1 magr=18.1~mag in two 20 deg220~deg^2 fields. The project is mainly focusing on the completeness of LAMOST ExtraGAlactic Surveys (LEGAS) in the SGC, the deficiencies of source selection methods and the basic performance parameters of LAMOST telescope. In both fields, more than 95% of galaxies have been observed. A post-processing has been applied to LAMOST 1D spectrum to remove the majority of remaining sky background residuals. More than 10,000 spectra have been visually inspected to measure the redshift by using combinations of different emission/absorption features with uncertainty of σz/(1+z)<0.001\sigma_{z}/(1+z)<0.001. In total, there are 1528 redshifts (623 absorption and 905 emission line galaxies) in Field A and 1570 redshifts (569 absorption and 1001 emission line galaxies) in Field B have been measured. The results show that it is possible to derive redshift from low SNR galaxies with our post-processing and visual inspection. Our analysis also indicates that up to 1/4 of the input targets for a typical extra-galactic spectroscopic survey might be unreliable. The multi-wavelength data analysis shows that the majority of mid-infrared-detected absorption (91.3%) and emission line galaxies (93.3%) can be well separated by an empirical criterion of W2W3=2.4W2-W3=2.4. Meanwhile, a fainter sequence paralleled to the main population of galaxies has been witnessed both in MrM_r/W2W3W2-W3 and MM_*/W2W3W2-W3 diagrams, which could be the population of luminous dwarf galaxies but contaminated by the edge-on/highly inclined galaxies (30%\sim30\%).Comment: 19 pages, 14 figures, 2 MRT, accepted by ApJ

Donor-free oligothiophene based dyes with di-anchor architecture for dye-sensitized solar cells

    Get PDF
Traditionally, metal free DSSCs are fabricated from sensitizers designed using a donor-pi-acceptor (D-π-A) architecture. More recently, non-conventional dyes without strong donor units have emerged and have provided competitive power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) with respect to their (D-π-A)-based counterparts. Here, we report the synthesis and DSSC fabrication of oligothiophene molecules featuring two anchoring groups that do not possess strong donor moieties and are able to adopt V- and U-shape conformations. PCEs of 3.70% was obtained with the smaller 5-thiophene dyes (5T2A, 5T2A-E) possessing higher PCEs than their larger 8-thiophene counterparts containing diacetylene units (8T4A, 8T4A-E). Comparison to the DSSC properties of the analogous linear dye 5T, indicates that the architecture and structure of this series of dyes are likely responsible for their lower performance

Greatly enhanced mechanical properties of thermoelectric SnSe through microstructure engineering

    Get PDF
The outstanding thermoelectric material, SnSe, is also known for its inferior mechanical properties, which bring great inconvenience for its application in thermoelectric devices. In this work, SnSe bulks were prepared via a sequential procedure of high-pressure synthesis (HPS), ball milling, and spark plasma sintering (SPS). The produced polycrystalline samples with a unique microstructure of tightly-bound quasi-equiaxed grains exhibited excellent mechanical properties. The Vickers hardness (HV), compressive strength (σc), and bending strength (σb) reached 1.1 GPa, 300 MPa, and 90 MPa, respectively, all of which are far superior to those of ordinary polycrystalline SnSe. Furthermore, the microstructures did not deteriorate thermoelectric performance. This work demonstrated an effective procedure to prepare polycrystalline microstructure-engineered SnSe materials, which not only show advantages in device applications but also shed light on property enhancement for other layer-structured thermoelectric materials
