Символізм флори в афро-американській поезії: лінгвокогнітивний аспект дослідження (Symbolism of flora in the african-american poetry: linguistic and cognitive aspects of research)

Статтю присвячено лінгвокогнітивному аналізові афромериканської поезії з огляду на актуалізацію у ній символічного значення номінативних мовних одиниць на позначення рослин. Автором визначено поняття символу і окреслено його функції у поетичному дискурсі. Особливу увагу приділено вивченню когнітивного потенціалу символів у процесі репрезентації концепту ПРИРОДА на рівні віршованих творів. (The article provides the linguistic and cognitive analysis of the African-American poetry focusing on the realization of a symbolic meaning of the nominative linguistic units that denote plants on a text level. The author defines the notion of a symbol and outlines its main functions within the poetic discourse. It is stated that except of its primary function of representation, a symbol realizes the cognitive function, which is manifested by means of the reconstruction of the artistic reality presented in a poetic work, and by the production of new meanings that are created due to the complexity of content and the polysemy of a symbol itself. The study of the cognitive potential of symbols within the representation of the concept NATURE on the level of poetic works is given special attention. It is proved that being one of the key mechanisms of the cultural memory in a text, symbols enable us to trace the relationships between nature and society, rooted into traditions and rituals of a certain community. The results of the research show that the linguistic units denoting plants that bear a symbolic meaning within the African-American culture, represent such constituent elements of the concept NATURE as DIVINITY, BEAUTY, MEMORY ABOUT THE PAST and POWER.

Kosten von Arbeitspferden in der landwirtschaftlichen Praxis

Ziel der Studie war es, Daten zu den Kosten für die Haltung von Arbeitspferden in der Landwirtschaft zu erheben. Die Kosten wurden in 22 Betrieben in Deutschland ermittelt. Die Betriebe waren relativ klein (12 ha). 92 Arbeitspferde wurden gehalten (85% Kaltblüter). Investitionen für 163 landwirtschaftliche Maschinen wurden genannt. Außerdem wurden Arbeitsstunden pro Hektar für 130 Feldeinsätze angegeben.  Die Investitionskosten für Pferde und Geräte für den Pferdezug waren geringer als bei einem kleinen Traktor. Теорія динамічного тлумачення значення як основа концептуального аналізу (Theory of the dynamic construal of meaning as a basis for the conceptual analysis)

У статті висвітлено основи теорії динамічного тлумачення значення, що пропонує інструментарій для концептуального аналізу різних типів дискурсу, а також структурування концептосфери мовної спільноти. Особливу увагу приділено вивченню підходів до когнітивно-прагматичної інтерпретації власних назв у рамках поетичного дискурсу. (The article outlines the fundamentals of the theory of the dynamic construal of meaning that offers the tools for the conceptual analysis of different types of discourse and the construction of the integral conceptual sphere of a linguistic community. It is stated that the application modes of the theory under consideration are not confined to the analysis of phraseological and nominative linguistic units. Therefore, particular attention is given to the study of the approaches to the cognitive and pragmatic interpretation of proper names within a poetic discourse. The involvement into the process of the research of such notions as contextualized interpretation, purport, constraints and construal provides the methodological basis of the conceptual analysis, since it presupposes the idea that the meaning of a linguistic unit can be modified within the context of its usage, taking into account historical and cultural background, as well as author’s pragmatic intentions. In such a way, the comprehensive character of the research is achieved due to the fact that the theory of the dynamic construal of meaning is characterized by the high degree of linguistic and extra-linguistic knowledge integration, engagement of social, cultural and historical contexts into the process of the cognitive interpretation of proper names. The results of the research show that proper names used within poetic works are endowed with certain cognitive meaning, the exposition of which is determined by both linguistic and extra-linguistic factors.

Парадигма еко-лінгвістичних досліджень у контексті сучасних підходів до дискурс-аналізу (Paradigm of eco-linguistic research in the context of modern approaches to discourse analysis)

У статті окреслено базові підходи до дискурсивного аналізу текстів з позиції еко-лінгвістичних досліджень. Автором визначено поняття «еко-лінгвістика» й «еко-критика», встановлено основні напрямки еко-критичного аналізу текстів, які передбачають посилання на екологічний контекст, а також виокремлено основні методологічні підходи до дискурсивного аналізу текстів з точки зору еко-лінгвістики. Розглянуто поняття еко-критики як міждисциплінарної парадигми, а також визначено її провідні напрямки. Стверджується, що основу еко-критики складає усвідомлення нерозривного взаємозв’язку між мовою, соціумом, культурою і навколишнім середовищем, адже у ході історії природа перетворилась на культурний конструкт, категорію текстуальних і культурних досліджень, що застосовується до лінгво-когнітивного аналізу творів різних епох і жанрів. (The ecological turn in humanities and social sciences has triggered the emergence of numerous multidisciplinary approaches to the study of ecological issues in relation to society and culture. The article outlines the basic approaches to the discourse analysis of texts from the perspective of eco-linguistic research because of their relevance within the philosophical, social and human sciences in recent decades. The author defines the notions of «eco-linguistics» and «eco-criticism», sets the main directions of eco-critical analysis of texts which provide links to the environmental context, and singles out the basic methodological approaches to the discourse analysis of texts in terms of eco-linguistics. The notion of eco-criticism as interdisciplinary paradigm within the linguistic and literary doctrines is considered in details on the assumption of the fact that the nature as a relatively independent cultural and intellectual phenomenon is the embodiment of the cultural and aesthetic values and conventions of a linguistic community, and defines its relationships with other social groups in terms of race, class, gender, nationality, and geographical location. It is proved that eco-critical research is based on the awareness of the inseparable relationships between language, society, culture and environment, because in the course of history nature has turned into a cultural construct, a category of textual and cultural studies, which is applicable to the linguistic-cognitive analysis of texts of different epochs and genres.

Performance Analysis of Communication in Mobile Networks with Drones

Vlivem stále rostoucích požadavků na přenosovou kapacitu je nutné zvyšovat i počet základnových stanic v hustě obydlených oblastech. V místech, kde by výstavba nových základnových stanic nebyla efektivní, se nabízí řešení použití létajících základnových stanic. Díky vysoké mobilitě a možnosti měnit pozici létající základnové stanice vůči uživatelům v reálném čase lze dosáhnout zvýšení přenosové kapacity sítě. Tato bakalářská práce porovnává vliv použití dronů jako základnových stanic a použití stávající architektury využívající velký počet malých buněk z pohledu maximální přenosové kapacity a energetické efektivity, během downlinku. Vliv je porovnáván pomocí pohybového modelu skupiny uživatelů (crowd mobility model). Výsledkem práce je dvojnásobné zvýšení přenosové kapacity oproti architektuře stávající mobilní sítě, při použití dronu jako létající základnové stanice s uvažováním neomezené páteřní linky. Se zvýšením přenosové kapacity se však pojí horší energetická efektivita.Due to increasing demands on the transmission capacity, base stations in highly populated areas are densely deployed. In places where a construction of the new base stations is no efficient, flying base stations can be considered. Thanks to the high mobility and the possibility to change the position of the flying base stations with respect to the users in real time, it is possible to increase the transmission capacity of the network. This bachelor thesis compares performance of the drones acting as flying base stations with existing dense small cell from the point of view of the maximum transmission capacity and energy efficient, during downlink. The performance is compared using a crowd mobility model. The result of the work is a double increase in transmission capacity compared to the existing mobile network architecture, using the dron as an air base with considerations of unlimited spines. However, with increased transmission capacity, there is a lower energy efficiency

Fully quantum mechanical dynamic analysis of single-photon transport in a single-mode waveguide coupled to a traveling-wave resonator

We analyze the dynamics of single photon transport in a single-mode waveguide coupled to a micro-optical resonator using a fully quantum mechanical model. We examine the propagation of a single-photon Gaussian packet through the system under various coupling conditions. We review the theory of single photon transport phenomena as applied to the system and we develop a discussion on the numerical technique we used to solve for dynamical behavior of the quantized field. To demonstrate our method and to establish robust single photon results, we study the process of adiabatically lowering or raising the energy of a single photon trapped in an optical resonator under active tuning of the resonator. We show that our fully quantum mechanical approach reproduces the semi-classical result in the appropriate limit and that the adiabatic invariant has the same form in each case. Finally, we explore the trapping of a single photon in a system of dynamically tuned, coupled optical cavities.Comment: 24 pages, 10 figure
