An inquiry into the determinants of Vietnamese product export

    Get PDF
Export led growth is the model of economic development that Vietnam has been following. While there are a great number of studies on the determinants of aggregate export of Vietnam, there are few that analyze the impacts of different factors on the export of different product groups. This paper aims at filling this gap in research on international trade of Vietnam. The results show that the fast GDP growth of Vietnam, the large population of importing countries, the wide economic gap between Vietnam and the importing countries, the depreciation of domestic currency, the free trade agreements that Vietnam signed and the shared border with the importing countries contribute to the increase of Vietnam’s export of all product groups. In contrast, the GDP of importing countries and population of Vietnam have no clear impacts on the export of any product groups.

The research indicates that the existence of intellectual capital accounting which has been recognized as the cost in production and business costs by current accounting practices were falsify the value and their using value and partly conceal exploiting potential of these. Intellectual capital has an important role in determining the business strategy, developing of tools to measure the results of business and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises. Therefore, intellectual capital should be recognized as an asset (intangible) on financial reports to help the users of information to have more financial information in terms of the potential ability of the business. In Vietnam, however, intellectual capital accounting has not really become popular and are considered as a new area by both researchers and practical persons. To achieve its objectives, this study uses Likert scale with values from 1 to 5 based on 5 criteria (accounting policies, environmental accounting, the method of valuation, the system determines the value of intellectual capital in enterprise and economic benefits) to assess the situation of intellectual capital accounting in Vietnamese enterprises. The research results will be the basis for the orientation in completing the provisions on the recognition, measurement and intellectual capital reporting on financial reports so as to sustainable develop in the context of integration. A number of social networking platforms have emerged as a result of the development of information and communication technology which have become increasingly user-friendly and full with valuable features. The social networking site with most users is Facebook. Teenagers, particularly college students use Facebook most frequently to study, gain information, entertain themselves and connect with others through self-disclosing personal information on the Facebook profile page. This quantitative study aimed to analyze the attitude of pedagogical students regarding self-disclosure on Facebook as represented through cognition, emotion and behavior concerning academic achievement. The survey was completed by 535university student’s majority in pedagogy. There were 41 students who used it for less than three years between three to five years by 218 students and 276 students who use it more than five years. The questionnaire was self-reported by participants to assess university students' attitudes toward self-disclosure on Facebook. The results indicate that pedagogical students with excellent academic achievement and more than five years of Facebook experience had the highest-level attitude toward self-disclosure on Facebook. The results indicate a positive relationship between cognition, emotion and influence factors students' Facebook attitudes. Future research on methods that enhance student positive disclosure can benefit from this study. Future research should examine how self-disclosure on Facebook relates to other aspects, such as Facebook usage time, financial state and perception of advantages and its disadvantages of Facebook in order to evaluate students' attitudes objectively

    No full text
We prove the existence of integral (stable, unstable, and center) manifolds for the solutions to a semilinear integral equation in the case where the evolution family (U(t, s)) t≥s has an exponential trichotomy on a half line or on the whole line, and the nonlinear forcing term f satisfies the φ-Lipschitz conditions, i.e., where φ(t) belongs to some classes of admissible function spaces. Our main method is based on the Lyapunov–Perron methods, rescaling procedures, and the techniques of using the admissibility of function spaces.Доведено iснування iнтегральних (стiйких, нестiйких, центральних) многовидiв для розв’язкiв напiвлiнiйного iнтегрального рiвняння у випадку, коли сiм’я еволюцiй (U(t,s))tleqs має експоненцiальну трихотомiю на пiвосi або на всiй осi, а нелiнiйний збурюючий член f задовольняє φ-лiпшицевi умови, тобто належить до деяких класiв допустимих просторiв функцiй. Investigating the elements influencing the psychological issues of reform school students

    Get PDF
Reformatory students are those whose deviant behaviors and habits prevent them from receiving education under normal educational conditions. These students frequently lead a careless, undisciplined lifestyle, being unwilling to work and learn eager to play and demanding. Therefore, when they are admitted to reformatories with severe study and lifestyle requirements, they have great psychological difficulty adjusting to their new environment. Students’ psychological issues in adapting to reformatory learning and living regimes are difficult and psychological deficits make it challenging for students to adapt to reformatory learning and living conditions. In Vietnam, 665 students from reformatory schools were polled to determine the causes of psychological issues. According to the findings, a variety of elements contribute to students’ psychological difficulties. Individual student conditions such as health, awareness, attitudes and actions as well as inappropriate habits, living without goals or aspirations, etc. are on the subjective side of the equation. On the objective side are the students’ conditions, family, education and psychological obstacles brought on by less-than-ideal circumstances which will make it more difficult for community students to adapt. Both the new school and society must pay more attention to reformatory students in order to establish the conditions necessary for successful integration into the new school and ultimate readmission into society for these students

This paper aims to investigate the classification power of market variables as predictors in the financial distress prediction model for listed companies in a frontier market as Vietnam securities market. Data is collected from 70 financially distressed companies that suffer a loss in 3 consecutive years and 156 non-financially distressed companies in Vietnam from 2010 to 2017. Four different models have been constructed using Logit regression and SVM analysis technique to make a prediction in 1 to 3-year ahead. The analysis results show that combining accounting ratios with market variables such as price volatility and P/E can improve the classification ability of the ex-ante model. In addition, contrary to the results of related previous researches in emerging markets, in this study, Logit models outperform SVM models. Therefore, for future research, models that apply other machine learning classifiers such as Decision Tree (DT) or Neural Network (NN) should be investigated.

    Vietnam and the great powers

Deriving momentum from Doi moi-an economic reform launched since 1986, Vietnam has to adjust its general foreign policy, especially its policy behaviors toward the great powers. This thesis aims to examine determinant factors leading to significant changes of the in Vietnamese foreign policy since 1986, and strategic approaches which Hanoi has been pursuing in dealing with the present-day great powers (the United States, China, the European Union, Russia, Japan and India). I argue that Vietnamese foreign relations toward the great powers since Doi moi can be configured by a mixture of two theoretical paradigms: realism and liberalism. Hanoi’s pragmatic approaches are aims to serve for the cause of national modernization and industrialization. This case study about Vietnam attempts to give an example of understanding how small and medium sized states in South East Asia respond to the present-day great powers in the post- Cold War era. And how mainstream approaches in Western theory of international relations make sense in identifying foreign relation pattern of a South East Asia country-Vietnam

Modeling and integration of multi-omics data to study regulatory landscapes governing placenta development

    Get PDF
The placenta is a transient organ that is crucial during pregnancy. It has multiple functions to ensure optimal fetal growth, including nutrient transport, oxygen exchange and immune protection. The placenta develops in a stage-wise manner and requires precise regulation of gene expression. Abnormalities in placental gene regulation can lead to pregnancy disorders such as preeclampsia, placenta accreta and placental abruption, which can be detrimental to the short and long-term health of both the mother and the fetus. However, the regulatory mechanisms governing placental development, especially with respect to gene regulatory networks, are poorly understood. In this dissertation, we aimed to identify regulatory networks associated with placental development by developing computational methods, and by analyzing and integrating various sequencing data at both the bulk and single-cell level. First, we generated and analyzed transcriptomic data from mouse fetal placenta tissues at embryonic day (e) 7.5, e8.5 and e9.5 to identify groups of genes that regulate placenta-specific developmental processes using cluster analysis, differential expression analysis, and network analysis. Second, we developed a deep learning framework to identify genome-wide chromatin accessibility regions. This framework is applicable for not only for placenta-derived data but also data generated in other tissues. Third, we integrated single-cell transcriptome and single-nucleus chromatin accessibility data generated from the rat uterine-placental interface to identify conserved gene regulatory networks governing rat and human placenta development. The completion of these studies has led to a better understanding of the gene – gene, gene – transcription factor, and transcription factor – cis-regulatory element interactions regulating placental development. Furthermore, the pipelines and tools developed, including the novel deep learning framework for chromatin accessibility analysis, are not limited to rodent and human placenta, but can be used to analyze data generated in any tissue or organism
