The Bulk Channel in Thermal Gauge Theories

    Get PDF
We investigate the thermal correlator of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor in the SU(3) Yang-Mills theory. Our goal is to constrain the spectral function in that channel, whose low-frequency part determines the bulk viscosity. We focus on the thermal modification of the spectral function, ρ(ω,T)ρ(ω,0)\rho(\omega,T)-\rho(\omega,0). Using the operator-product expansion we give the high-frequency behavior of this difference in terms of thermodynamic potentials. We take into account the presence of an exact delta function located at the origin, which had been missed in previous analyses. We then combine the bulk sum rule and a Monte-Carlo evaluation of the Euclidean correlator to determine the intervals of frequency where the spectral density is enhanced or depleted by thermal effects. We find evidence that the thermal spectral density is non-zero for frequencies below the scalar glueball mass mm and is significantly depleted for mω3mm\lesssim\omega\lesssim 3m.Comment: (1+25) pages, 6 figure

Does Competition Encourage Unethical Behavior? The Case of Corporate Profit Hiding in China

    Get PDF
This paper investigates whether market competition enhances firms’ incentives to hide profits. We develop a theoretical model of firms’ profit hiding behavior in competitive environments and derive several testable hypotheses. We then test the model using a database that covers more than 20,000 large-and-medium-sized industrial firms in China during the period 1995-2002. Our findings show that firms in more competitive market environments – as well as firms in relatively disadvantageous positions – hide a larger share of their profits. This suggests that policies intended to promote competition should be accompanied by policies aiming at strengthening institutional infrastructure and at leveling playing fields.preprin

The general elections to choose Regional Head and Regional Head Vice (regional election) directly by the people under the Act (the Act) 32 of 2004 on Regional Government, as amended by Act 12 of 2008 in conjunction with the Government Regulation (PP) No. .6 in 2005, seen as a step forward in the democratic political system in our country, in order to realize the ideals of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (Indonesian Republic) safe, orderly, fair and prosperous. However, after five years of direct election was held in the Republic (as of the month of June 2005 under the provisions of Article 233 paragraph 1 of Law 32 of 2004), it\u27s almost always tinged with the negative impact of the various violations that gave birth to the dispute and contention, whether conducted by the contestants and supporters as well as those conducted by the organizers (Election Commission) itself

The ultraviolet limit and sum rule for the shear correlator in hot Yang-Mills theory

We determine a next-to-leading order result for the correlator of the shear stress operator in high-temperature Yang-Mills theory. The computation is performed via an ultraviolet expansion, valid in the limit of small distances or large momenta, and the result is used for writing operator product expansions for the Euclidean momentum and coordinate space correlators as well as for the Minkowskian spectral density. In addition, our results enable us to confirm and refine a shear sum rule originally derived by Romatschke, Son and Meyer.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figures. v2: small clarifications, one reference added, published versio

A CONTROLLED CLINICAL STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF CERTAIN INDIGENOUS DRUGS IN SHAKHASHRITA KAMALA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO VIRAL HEPATITIS-B

Hepatitis-B is an infective disease predominantly affecting liver. Along with AIDS, which has been a major concern since 90s. Many of the Ayurvedic herbal medicines have been tried and have been proved to be effective in treating Shakhashrita kamala. The objective of the study was to see the effect of tablet Nirocil and indigenous drugs Kashaya in Shakhashrita kamala (Hepatitis-B) and to compare both of them. A Total of 26 patients, after considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, having signs and symptoms of Shakhashrita kamala were included in the study and after diagnosing Hepatitis-B by elevated liver function tests and HBsAg (Elisa). Patients were assessed and scores were given with regards to the subjective parameters like Peetata of netra, Peetata of Mootra, Peetata of Jihwa jala, Swethavarchas, Kandu and objective parameters like total bilirubin, and HBsAg. All the subjective parameters are recorded and assessed on initial day, during and after treatment. Objective parameters are assessed before and after treatment. Out of 26 patients, 10 patients got completely cured, 8 patients got improvement and 8 patients got slight improvement. Overall assessment of the study revealed that, after treatment of 26 patients, there were 8 patients having HBsAg positive result and 18 patients were having HBsAg negative result which was highly significant. Both the groups showed significant positive in subjective parameters. Thus study revealed that indigenous drugs Kashaya has significant role to play in the management of Shaksahashrita kamala. To conclude, the study emphasized that indigenous drugs Kashaya has significant role to play in the management of Shaksahashrita kamala

In accordance with the principle of state law, any legislation must be sourced and based firmly on the laws and regulations applicable higher level. As an instrument of state law, local regulations are problematic can be tested. Local legislation which contrary to the public interest and / or conflict with higher laws can be tested by two institutions authorized in two models, namely the judicial review by the Supreme Court and executive review by the Government (Home Minister). So, it shows the duality about the rules of local regulation testing that is between the Home Minister and the Supreme Court. Therefore, it needs to be revisited on how the mechanism and who exactly has the authority to examine the local regulation of district/city against provincial local regulation

The weakness of administrative decision assesed in absence of forceful measures imposed on the defendant administrative. With law No.9 of 2004 and changed with law No.51 of 2009, known forceful measures in administrative decision. Article 116, paragraph 4 „in case the defendant is not willing to implement the binding court decision, to official concerned shall attempt a forced measures such as forced payment of money forced and/or administrative sanction‟. But until now the implementation of rules and technical instruction how both intstrument such a forceful measures implemented has not been issued by the government and by the supreme court. The purpose of this writing is to find out the urgency of forceful measures in the implementation of the binding administrative court decision. Conclusions are (1) many administrative court decision that can not be excecuted, due the factors, both in self respect of defendant and the ansence of the institution of measures. (2) forceful measures as mandated in article 166can be implemented effectively because there‟s no implementing reguletion.(3) theimplementation of forceful measures as a feature of the general principle of good governance, the rule of law. And sanction as a weapon for defendant to implement the administrative court decision. The author suggestion that examined of the problems are, first there should be forcibly implementing regulations regarding it self as the publication of government regulations. Second, confirm the dranft plan of administrative law. Third, indispensable participations of defendant in the execution of administrative court decision to determine the development of execution
