Conformal Turbulence with Boundary
Based upon the formalism of conformal field theory with a boundary, we give a
description of the boundary effect on fully developed two dimensional
turbulence. Exact one and two point velocity correlation functions and energy
power spectrum confined in the upper half plane are obtained using the image
method. This result enables us to address the infrared problem of the theory of

A simple variational approach to the quantum Frenkel-Kontorova model
We present a simple and complete variational approach to the one-dimensional
quantum Frenkel-Kontorova model. Dirac's time-dependent variational principle
is adopted together with a Hatree-type many-body trial wavefunction for the
atoms. The single-particle state is assumed to have the Jackiw-Kerman form. We
obtain an effective classical Hamiltonian for the system which is simple enough
for a complete numerical solution for the static ground state of the model.
Numerical results show that our simple approach captures the essence of the
quantum effects first observed in quantum Monte Carlo studies.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure
Pion-photon and photon-pion transition form factors in light-cone formalism
We derive the minimal Fock-state expansions of the pion and the photon wave
functions in light-cone formalism, then we calculate the pion-photon and the
photon-pion transition form factors of and
processes by employing these
quark-antiquark wave functions of the pion and the photon. We find that our
calculation for the transition form factor
agrees with the experimental data at low and moderately high energy scale.
Moreover, the physical differences and inherent connections between the
transition form factors of and have been illustrated, which indicate that these
two physical processes are intrinsically related. In addition, we also discuss

Search for exoplanets in M31 with pixel-lensing and the PA-99-N2 event revisited
Several exoplanets have been detected towards the Galactic bulge with the
microlensing technique. We show that exoplanets in M31 may also be detected
with the pixel-lensing method, if telescopes making high cadence observations
of an ongoing microlensing event are used. Using a Monte Carlo approach we find
that the mean mass for detectable planetary systems is about .
However, even small mass exoplanets () can cause
significant deviations, which are observable with large telescopes. We
reanalysed the POINT-AGAPE microlensing event PA-99-N2. First, we test the
robustness of the binary lens conclusion for this light curve. Second, we show
that for such long duration and bright microlensing events, the efficiency for
finding planetary-like deviations is strongly enhanced with respect to that

Spin Structure of the Pion in a Light-Cone Representation
The spin structure of the pion is discussed by transforming the wave function
for the pion in the naive quark model into a light-cone representation. It is
shown that there are higher helicity () states in
the full light-cone wave function for the pion besides the ordinary helicity
() component wave functions as a consequence from
the Melosh rotation relating spin states in light-front dynamics and those in
instant-form dynamics. Some low energy properties of the pion, such as the
electromagnetic form factor, the charged mean square radius, and the weak decay
constant, could be interrelated in this representation with reasonable

Exotic Meson Production in the System observed in the Reaction at 18 GeV/c
This letter reports results from the partial wave analysis of the
final state in collisions at 18GeV/c.
Strong evidence is observed for production of two mesons with exotic quantum
numbers of spin, parity and charge conjugation, in the decay
channel . The mass MeV/c^2 and
width MeV/c^2 of the first state are consistent
with the parameters of the previously observed . The second
resonance with mass MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2 agrees very well with predictions from theoretical
models. In addition, the presence of is confirmed with mass MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2
and a new state, , is observed with mass
MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2. The decay properties of
these last two states are consistent with flux tube model predictions for
hybrid mesons with non-exotic quantum numbers
