    Future of Mobile Learning During and After Global (Covid-19) Pandemic: College of Basic Education as Case

    The declaration of world health organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020 that the new coronavirus (COVID-19) is a global pandemic has urged countries around the world to impose severe restrictions on their populations in a bid to stop the spread of infection. Imposing social distancing policy has consequence to stop different sectors from daily operations and education one of these sectors. This movement has consequence to accelerate the need for alternative. Mobile learning known as the ability to provide educational content on personal pocket devices, or personal digital assistants (PDAs). This style of learning is in its early stages in terms of both pedagogies and its technologies. M-learning represents a new era in learning and educational development in terms of enhancing the educational outcomes and offering mobile training for employees who are busy off campus. The opposite argument here is that this approach of learning might not be sufficient to fulfill the educational process requirements. Aim of this study is to assess from students points of view, current applications of m-learning in Kuwait’s College of Basic Education and evaluate the potential of this approach. Sample of the study consist of fifty-two students (30 male and 22 female) determined by a purposive sampling method. Collected data via online questionnaire to assess the participant’s perceptions and the analysis has revealed a positive attitude towards the utilization of m-learning in higher education; the average perception of was above average, with a mean of 3.54 out of 5.00. No statistical differences were found reflecting students’ gender (female/ male) or their level of experience with information and communications technology (weak, above average, or advanced). As a result, the study recommends accelerating the development of courses taught and incorporating mobile learning delivery. Adopting a blended learning strategy based on m-learning can motivate the students’ learning and reduce the fears of adopting mobile technology within the curriculum.     Identifying the Impact of Using Simulation Programs on Acquiring Physics Concepts for Female Students in Grade 11

    This study aims at identifying the impact of using Simulation programs on acquiring physics concepts, and development of lab activity skills. The sample consisted of (54) female students in grade 11 in the General Education at schools in Al-Batinah North Governorate. The sample was divided into two groups: The experimental group (n=28) that studied physics using simulation, and the control group (n=26) that studied the same material but using the traditional method of teaching. To achieve the study aims three tools were prepared: The Physics Concepts Test, the Laboratory Work Skills Test, and Laboratory Work Skills Observation Card. After conducting the tests before and after the study treatment, and observing the student while working on the experiments, the study results showed that no statistical differences was indicated between the experimental group and the control group in terms of gain of physics concepts, and all lab activity skills. In addition, the results of the Laboratory Work Skills Observation Card showed that simulation programs made the student make most of the lab activity skills. In view of the findings of the study, some suggestions and recommendations were proposed for future research

    Comparing a Way to Calculate the Heat Loss Coefficient of Solar Flat Plate Collector

    The need for a simple solution to derive the total heat loss coefficient, UL , is unquestioned as this reduces time to compute the performance of investigated system, especially in atmosphere when practicality is highly needed. This paper describes a simulation and comparison of several ways to obtained UL The assumptions used and the method are described briefly. The analysis of the result shows that the derived equation (10) applied for solar box cooker type HS is the simplest. The long field test has proved its simplicity and people can understand it easily in practice. This numerical experiment is provided for the readers to validate this simple equation as it can be a tool for the scientist who needs to transfer their knowledge to a wider education level in the context to popularize the application of renewable energy

    Taming the Yukawa potential singularity: improved evaluation of bound states and resonance energies

    Using the tools of the J-matrix method, we absorb the 1/r singularity of the Yukawa potential in the reference Hamiltonian, which is handled analytically. The remaining part, which is bound and regular everywhere, is treated by an efficient numerical scheme in a suitable basis using Gauss quadrature approximation.     Spectrophotometric Determination of Bisacodyl in Pure and Pharmaceutical Preparation via Oxidative Coupling Organic Reaction

    A simple, accurate and sensitive spectrophotometric way is used to determine Bisacodyl in pure and pharmaceutical preparations. The proposed method depends on using 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine as chromogenic reagent . The method was based on the oxidative coupling reaction of Bisacodyl with 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine with Sodium periodate in the presence of sodium hydroxide as alkaline media to form red water soluble dye product , that has a maximum absorption at ?max 522nm . Beer ,s law is obeyed in the concentration of (2.00–20.00) ?g.ml -1 .The molar absorptivity is (6505) L.mol-1.cm-1,a sandall sensitivity of(0.0555) ?g.cm-2), correlation coefficient of (0.9970) , Limitof detection (LOD) (0.0312 ?g.ml-1), limit of Quantitation (LOQ) (0. 3125 ?g.ml-1) and the relative standard deviation of RSD% (1.6). The method gave a successful determination for Bisacodyl in pharmaceutical preparations and the value of recovery % was better than (100.16%

    Memory of the Unjamming Transition during Cyclic Tiltings of a Granular Pile

    Discrete numerical simulations are performed to study the evolution of the micro-structure and the response of a granular packing during successive loading-unloading cycles, consisting of quasi-static rotations in the gravity field between opposite inclination angles. We show that internal variables, e.g., stress and fabric of the pile, exhibit hysteresis during these cycles due to the exploration of different metastable configurations. Interestingly, the hysteretic behaviour of the pile strongly depends on the maximal inclination of the cycles, giving evidence of the irreversible modifications of the pile state occurring close to the unjamming transition. More specifically, we show that for cycles with maximal inclination larger than the repose angle, the weak contact network carries the memory of the unjamming transition. These results demonstrate the relevance of a two-phases description -strong and weak contact networks- for a granular system, as soon as it has approached the unjamming transition.Comment: 13 pages, 15 figures, soumis \`{a} Phys.     Comparative power demand of mechanical and aeration imposed shear in an immersed membrane bioreactor

    The power demanded for the application of mechanically-imposed shear on an immersed flat sheet (iFS) membrane bioreactor (MBR) has been compared to that of conventional membrane air scouring. Literature correlations based on the Ostwald model were used to define the rheological characteristics of an MBR sludge. The correlation of specific power demand (, in Watts per m2 membrane area) with shear rate γ in s-1 was developed from first principles through a consideration of the force balance on the system in the case of mechanically-imposed shear. The corresponding aeration imposed shear correlation was interpreted from literature information. The analysis revealed the energy required to impose a shear mechanically through oscillation (or reciprocation) of the membrane to be between 20 and 70% less than that demanded for providing the same shear by conventional aeration of the immersed membrane. The energy saving increases with decreasing shear in accordance with a power demand ratio (aeration:mechanical) of 1400γ-1.4 for a specific sludge rheology. Whilst the absolute value is dependent on the sludge rheology, the aeration:mechanical power demand ratio is determined by the difference in the two exponents in the respective correlations between and γ. Consequently, aeration-imparted shear becomes energetically favoured beyond some threshold shear rate value (∼180 s-1, based on the boundary conditions applied in the current study). The outcomes qualitatively corroborate findings from the limited practical measurement of energy demand in MBRs fitted with reciprocating immersed membranes

    Spectral characteristics for a spherically confined -1/r + br^2 potential

    We consider the analytical properties of the eigenspectrum generated by a class of central potentials given by V(r) = -a/r + br^2, b>0. In particular, scaling, monotonicity, and energy bounds are discussed. The potential V(r)V(r) is considered both in all space, and under the condition of spherical confinement inside an impenetrable spherical boundary of radius R. With the aid of the asymptotic iteration method, several exact analytic results are obtained which exhibit the parametric dependence of energy on a, b, and R, under certain constraints. More general spectral characteristics are identified by use of a combination of analytical properties and accurate numerical calculations of the energies, obtained by both the generalized pseudo-spectral method, and the asymptotic iteration method. The experimental significance of the results for both the free and confined potential V(r) cases are discussed.Comment: 16 pages, 4 figure
