On the kinematic signature of a central Galactic bar in observed star samples
A quasi self-consistent model for a barred structure in the central regions
of our Galaxy is used to calculate the signature of such a triaxial structure
on the kinematical properties of star samples. We argue that, due to the
presence of a velocity dispersion, such effects are much harder to detect in
the stellar component than in the gas. It might be almost impossible to detect
stellar kinematical evidence for a bar using only l-v diagrams, if there is no
a priori knowledge of the potential. Therefore, we propose some test parameters
that can easily be applied to observed star samples, and that also incorporate
distances or proper motions. We discus the diagnostic power of these tests as a
function of the sample size and the bar strength. We conclude that about 1000
stars would be necessary to diagnose triaxiality with some statistical

The non-linear evolution of bispectrum from the scale-free N-body simulation
We have accurately measured the bispectrum for four scale-free models of
structure formation with the spectral index , 0, -1, and -2. The
measurement is based on a new method that can effectively eliminate the alias
and numerical artifacts, and reliably extend the analysis into the strongly
non-linear regime. The work makes use of a set of state-of-the art N-body
simulations that have significantly increased the resolution range compared
with the previous studies on the subject. With these measured results, we
demonstrated that the measured bispectrum depends on the shape and size of
-triangle even in the strongly nonlinear regime. It increases with
wavenumber and decreases with the spectral index. These results are in contrast
with the hypothesis that the reduced bispectrum is a constant in the strongly
non-linear regime. We also show that the fitting formula of Scoccimarro &
Frieman (1999) does not describe our simulation results well (with a typical
error about 40 percent). In the end, we present a new fitting formula for the
reduced bispectrum that is valid for with a typical error of

, and single crystals reveal
a new type magnetization hysteresis loops characterized by the vanishing of
usual central peak near zero field. Since this effect has been observed in
various systems with very different structural details, it reflects probably a
generic behavior for all high temperature superconductors. This easy
penetration of magnetic flux can be understood in the picture of percolative
superconductivity due to the inhomogeneous electronic state in heavily

Antimagnetic Rotation Band in Nuclei: A Microscopic Description
Covariant density functional theory and the tilted axis cranking method are
used to investigate antimagnetic rotation (AMR) in nuclei for the first time in
a fully self-consistent and microscopic way. The experimental spectrum as well
as the B(E2) values of the recently observed AMR band in 105Cd are reproduced
very well. This gives a further strong hint that AMR is realized in specific

Anomalous Hall effect in non-collinear antiferromagnetic antiperovskite MnNiCuN
We report the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in antiperovskite MnNiN with
substantial doping of Cu on the Ni site (i.e. MnNiCuN),
which stabilizes a noncollinear antiferromagnetic (AFM) order compatible with
the AHE. Observed on both sintered polycrystalline pieces and single
crystalline films, the AHE does not scale with the net magnetization, contrary
to the conventional ferromagnetic case. The existence of the AHE is explained
through symmetry analysis based on the AFM order in Cu doped
MnNiN. DFT calculations of the intrinsic contribution to the AHE reveal
the non-vanishing Berry curvature in momentum space due to the noncollinear
magnetic order. Combined with other attractive properties, antiperovskite

Numerical analysis of a downsized 2-stroke uniflow engine
In order to optimize the 2-stroke uniflow engine performance on vehicle applications, numerical analysis has been introduced, 3D CFD model has been built for the optimization of intake charge organization. The scavenging process was investigated and the intake port design details were improved. Then the output data from 3D CFD calculation were applied to a 1D engine model to process the analysis on engine performance. The boost system optimization of the engine has been carried out also. Furthermore, a vehicle model was also set up to investigate the engine in-vehicle performance
Modelling of Electroluminescence in Polymers Using a Bipolar Charge Transport Model
Electroluminescence (EL) in polymeric materials is thought to occur due to the energy dissipation process from the recombination of opposite polarity charge carriers. It is considered as an indication of storage and transport of charge carriers in cable insulation subject to electrical stresses and may indicate the change in charge movement due to aging or degradation processes. Under ac electric fields, the interaction of opposite polarity charge carriers at the interface of polymer/conductor is enhanced compared with dc conditions, and seems to contribute a lot to the electroluminescence rather than the charge behaviours in the bulk of polymers. The dynamics of charge carriers both at the interface of polymer/conductor and in the bulk of polymers is investigated through a simulation work using a bipolar charge transport model. Figure 1 compares experimental electroluminescence results with simulated data from the recombination of injected charge carriers.
