On the spectral characterization of pineapple graphs
The pineapple graph is obtained by appending pendant edges to a
vertex of a complete graph (). Zhang and Zhang
["Some graphs determined by their spectra", Linear Algebra and its
Applications, 431 (2009) 1443-1454] claim that the pineapple graphs are
determined by their adjacency spectrum. We show that their claim is false by
constructing graphs which are cospectral and non-isomorphic with for
every and various values of . In addition we prove that the claim

Recombining Plasma & Gamma-ray Emission in the Mixed-morphology Supernova Remnant 3C 400.2
3C 400.2 belongs to the mixed morphology supernova remnant class, showing
center-filled X-ray and shell-like radio morphology. We present a study of 3C
400.2 with archival Suzaku and Fermi-LAT observations. We find recombining
plasma (RP) in the Suzaku spectra of north-east and south-east regions. The
spectra of these regions are well described by two-component thermal plasma
models: The hard component is in RP, while the soft component is in collisional
ionization equilibrium (CIE) conditions. The RP has enhanced abundances
indicating that the X-ray emission has an ejecta origin, while the CIE has
solar abundances associated with the interstellar material. The X-ray spectra
of north-west and south-west regions are best fitted by a two-component thermal
plasma model: an ionizing and a CIE plasma. We have detected GeV gamma-ray
emission from 3C 400.2 at the level of 5 assuming a point-like
source model with a power-law (PL) type spectrum. We have also detected a new
GeV source at the level of 13 assuming a Gaussian extension model
with a PL type spectrum in the neighborhood of the SNR. We report the analysis
results of 3C 400.2 and the new extended gamma-ray source and discuss the
nature of gamma-ray emission of 3C 400.2 in the context of existing NANTEN CO
data, DRAO HI data, and the Suzaku X-ray analysis results.Comment: Accepted to be published in the Astrophysical Journa
The Effects of Different Insufflation Pressures on Liver Functions Assessed with LiMON on Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
Purpose. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been accepted as an alternative to laparotomy, but there is still controversy regarding the effects of pneumoperitoneum on splanchnic and hepatic perfusion. We assessed the effects of different insufflation pressures on liver functions by using indocyanine green elimination tests (ICG-PDR). Methods. We analyzed 43 patients who were scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The patients were randomly allocated to two groups. In Group I, the operation was performed using 10 mmHg pressure pneumoperitoneum. In Group II, 14 mmHg pressure pneumoperitoneum was used. The ICG-PDR measurements were made after induction (ICG-PDR 1) and after the end of the operation (ICG-PDR 2). Serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and total bilirubin levels were all recorded preoperatively, 1 hour, and postoperative 24 hours after surgery. Results. The ICG-PDR 1 values for Groups I and II were as follows: 26.78 ± 4.2%
per min versus 26.01 ± 2.4%
per min (P > 0.05). ICG-PDR 2 values were found to be 25.63 ± 2.1% per min in Group I versus 19.06 ± 2.2% per min in Group II (P < 0.05). There was a statistically significant decrease between baseline and postoperative ICG-PDR values in Group II compared to Group I (P < 0.05). Statistically, there was an increase between baseline and postoperative 1st-hour serum AST and ALT level in Group II (P < 0.05) compared to Group I. No statistical differences were detected on postoperative 24st-hour serum AST and ALT levels and all the time bilirubin between groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion. In conclusion, the results show that 14 mmHg pressure pneumoperitoneum decreased the blood flow to the liver and increased postoperative 1st-hour serum AST and ALT levels. We think that 10 mmHg pressure pneumoperitoneum is superior to 14 mmHg pressure pneumoperitoneum in laparoscopic cholecystectomy
On the generalized Davenport constant and the Noether number
Known results on the generalized Davenport constant related to zero-sum
sequences over a finite abelian group are extended to the generalized Noether
number related to the rings of polynomial invariants of an arbitrary finite
group. An improved general upper bound is given on the degrees of polynomial
invariants of a non-cyclic finite group which cut out the zero vector.Comment: 14 page
Optimal channel switching for average capacity maximization
Optimal channel switching is proposed for average capacity maximization in the presence of average and peak power constraints. A necessary and sufficient condition is derived in order to determine when the proposed optimal channel switching approach can or cannot outperform the optimal single channel approach, which performs no channel switching. Also, it is stated that the optimal channel switching solution can be realized by channel switching between at most two different channels. In addition, a low-complexity optimization problem is derived in order to obtain the optimal channel switching solution. Numerical examples are provided to exemplify the derived theoretical results. © 2014 IEEE
