    In analysis, the writer uses qualitative method. The object of the study is Letters to Juliet written by Gary Winick. The outcome of the study is shown in the following conclusions. First, there is a relationship between Letters to Juliet and an individual psychology, particularly in human striving for superiority and the creativity of human to support their strives. Letters to Juliet is a movie where the story tells about the existence of Juliet Capulet. The climax on action appears from both couple with a different ways of purposes. Second Letters to Juliet is analyzed by using individual psychological approach where there are six elements as the point. The six elements consist of striving for superiority, inferiority feeling, fictional finalism, style of life, creative self and social interest. Sophie, the major character tries to become an honest woman to get her future better because her finalism is that, on her entire life, Sophie needs love. Her dream is to get someone she loves who cares of her and knows her better rather than knowing about himself. To get her fictional finalism, Sophia must face the obstacle of life. The obstacle that creates her inferiority is that Sophie feels anxious when she knows that her fiancé only loves with his hobby and his dreams as a chef of a restaurant. The creative of Sophia helps her to run her life. Her creativity such as after he is separated with her fiancé, she feels lonely because there is no one can give her love and attention. Her style of life supports her social life everyday

    Tujuan penelitian ini ada dua. (1) Mendeskripsikan bentuk kesalahan berbahasa bidang morfologi pada karangan siswa kelas VII Mts Muhammadiyah 1 Weleri Tahun Ajaran 2013/2014. (2) Mendeskripsikan pemilihan kata yang tepat (diksi) kesalahan berbahasa bidang morfologi pada karangan siswa kelas VII Mts Muhammadiyah 1 Weleri Tahun Ajaran 2013/2014. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kualitatif. Teknik penelitian ini mengunakan teknik simak digunakan untuk menyimak penggunaan bahasa, kemudian menggunakan teknik catat untuk mencatat data-data yang penting untuk dianalisis. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masih ada kesalahan-kesalahan berbahasa yang terdapat pada karangan narasi siswa kelas VII di MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Weleri. Kesalahan-kesalahan itu antara lain: (1) Analisis kesalahan berbahasa pada karangan narasi siswa kelas VII di MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Weleri terdapat 9 macam kesalahan bidang morfologi yaitu: Kesalahan Mengganti Prefiks ter- dengan Prefiks ke-, Kesalahan Menghilangkan Perfiks ter-, Kesalahan Penghilangan Prefiks ber-, Kesalahan Penulisan Sufiks –nya, Kesalahan dalam Penghilangan Prefiks meN-, Kesalahan Penulisan Prefiks meN- dengan –in, Kesalahan Penulisan kata depan, dan Kesalahan Pleonasme. (2) Wujud kesalahan berbahasa pada karangan narasi siswa kelas VII MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Weleri terdapat kesalahan karena pemilihan kata yang kurang tepat

    This study is about determinism and freedom in One Day novel. The objective of this study are to analyze the novel based on its structural elements and apply the determinism approach to analyze the determinism and freedom in One Day novel. The data source comes from primary data source that is the novel and the secondary data sources are references and data or materials related to the research picking up from the books and the internet related with the novel. The method of the data collection is descriptive analysis.The researcher uses Barret’s major point of determinism and freedom to answer the problem of the study. The study is descriptive qualitative research whose data are taken from novel. The technique of the collecting data is library research, while the technique of analyzing data is descriptive. The study comes to the following conclusions. Firstly, based on the structural analysis of each elements, it shows that character and characterization, setting, plot, point of view, and theme are related to each other and form the unity. Secondly, based on the determinism analysis the writer wants to say that humans only have the freedom to choose and do all they want, and they can only hope and strive in order that their desires could be achieved and their hopes come true, sometimes what they choose and what they do give a major influence on their future or the rest of their lives but on the other hand everything is determined by God, including, life and death, fate and destiny, fortune and mate

    Penerapan Teknik Peer-Correction Untuk Meningkatkan Kompetensi Menulis Deskripsi Siswa Kelas Xi Ips 1 Sma Negeri 1 Ngemplak Tahun Pelajaran 2010/2011

    The research is aimed to know and describe: 1) the application of peer- correction technique in improving the learning quality of writing description text learning; and 2) the application of peer-correction technique in improving the students’ writing competence in writing description text for XI IPS-1 students of SMA Negeri I Ngemplak Kabupaten Boyolali academic year 2010/2011. The type of the research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was administered at SMA Negeri I Ngemplak Kabupaten Boyolali. The classroom used as the subject of the research was XI IPS-1 at first semester of academic year 2010/2011. The research was done within 12 weeks in the middle of the first semester of academic year 2010/2011, namely within September up to November 2010. The data collection were done using observation, test, and document techniques. The data analysis technique was done using interactive analysis model covering three main components, namely data reduction, data display, and verification. The research concludes that: 1) the application of peer-correction technique can improve the quality of writing description text learning process for class XI IPS- 1 students at SMA Negeri I Ngemplak Kabupaten Boyolali academic year 2010/2011. It is indicated with the improvement in students’ learning activities throughout the cycles; and 2) the application of peer-correction technique can improve students’ writing competence in writing description text for class XI IPS-1 students at SMA Negeri I Ngemplak Kabupaten Boyolali academic year 2010/2011. It is indicated with the improvement of students’ writing scores and the students’ mastery level throughout the cycles. The students’ mastery in writing description text improved from 55.56% at the initial stage became 69.44% at the end of cycle I, improved to 77.78% at the end of cycle II, and improved to 94.44% at the end of cycle III. The students’ writing score improved from 62.92 at the initial stage became 65.56 at the end of cycle I, and improved into 67.64 at the end of cycle II, and then improved into 69.17 at the end of cycle III

The objective of this research is to find out whether Numbered Heads Together technique is effective or not for teaching reading comprehension for the eight grade students of MTs Ma’arif compare with the teacher’s method (Three Phase Technique) to teach narrative text. The researcher used quantitative research with experimental method. The research was conducted at MTs Maarif Andong in academic year 2016/2017. The population of this research was the eighth grade of MTs Maarif Andong. the total number of population was 73 students. The sample was VIII D class as experimental class and VIII C as control class. The researcher used test to collect the data of the research. The researcher analyzed of the data by using t-test formula. The research finding shows that Numbered Head Together technique is effective to teach reading comprehension for the eighth grade students of MTs Maarif Andong in academic year 2016/2017. It can be proved from the calculation of t-test. The result of the t-test in post-test shows that t obtained is higher than t table (2.355 > 2.000) for level significance of 0.05 (5%). It means there is differences in post test score between experimental class and control class, the average score of post-test in experimental class is 69.51 and control class is 64.23. It can be concluded that the students in experimental research has higher achievement than the students in control class. Therefore, the application of Numbered Head Together technique in experimental class is effective than Three Phase Technique

This research describes the types of code mixing between English and Indonesia used by the students in Bilingual program of the sixth semester students in IAIN Surakarta. The objectives of this research are (1) to get description concerning the types of code mixing between English and Indonesian used by the students in bilingual program of the sixth semester students in IAIN Surakarta. (2) to find out the reason of the students in using code mixing in bilingual program of the sixth semester students in IAIN Surakarta. The kind of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of the research are taken from the subjects during the term of observation and opinions of the interview. The researcher made the observation in order to know the types of code mixing between English and Indonesian used by the students in bilingual program. When the researcher did the interview, the researcher asks one by one of the students to know about their reason why they used code mixing in their utterance. In this research, the researcher take three groups that have been represented every subject in bilingual program of IAIN Surakarta. The result of the research showed that there are six types of code mixing in Bilingual program. Those are: word level, phrase level, clause level, baster level, reduplication level and idiom level. The researcher found that the highest number of code mixings‟ usage in the Bilingual program are code mixing word level which attains 39 data with 44.8 % and the fewest number of code mixings usage in the Bilingual program is code mixing in baster level, reduplication level, and code mixing of idioms level in which each of them only 1 data with 14 %. The research also found the reason of code mixing. The researcher found that the highest reason of code mixings‟ usage by the students that they have less vocabulary

The first aim of the research is to describe the teaching and learning process of reding skill for the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten in Academic Year 2017/2018 especially focus on the material, method and evaluation. The second aim of the research is to describe the problem faced in teaching and learning process of reding skill for the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten in Academic Year 2017/2018. This research was descriptive qualitative and used case study design. The researcher conducted the research in July-August 2017. The subject of research was the students of XI Science 3 class of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten in academic year 2017/2018. The class consisted of 22 students. The techniques of collecting data were observation, interview, and document. The researcher observed teaching and learning process of reading skill. The researcher did interview the English teacher. In analyzing the data, the researcher used technique analyzing data from Miles and Huberman. There were four steps in analyzing the data. First was data collection, the researcher collected the data from classroom observation, interview the teacher and the document such as lesson plan and the material. The second was data reduction, the researcher classified the data based on the research focus. The researcher reduced the data that did not related with the research focus. The third was data display, the researcher presented the data in order to draw the conclusion. The last step was conclusion, the researcher gained the finding, and interpreted all of the data. The result of the research showed that teaching and learning process of reading skill used Task Based Learning. The teacher took the material from textbook and internet. The teacher evaluated the students using written response and multiple choices. The problem faced in teaching and learning process of reading skill were class management, the students’ knowledge, lack of students’ vocabulary mastery, and lack of pupil interest

Hum Key Words : Vocabulary, Random Picture The problems of the research are How good is the implementation of teaching vocabulary using random pictures and What are the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of random pictures for vocabulary mastery in the eighth grade students at MTs N Boyolali in the academic year 2015/2016. The research subject is the Eight Grade Students of MTs N 1 Boyolali. The objectives of the research are to know how good the implementation of teaching vocabulary using random pictures and to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of random pictures of vocabulary mastery at eighth grade students at MTs N Boyolali in the academic year 2015/2016. The research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was conducted in MTs N 1 Boyolali, which is located Jl. Kemuning No. 32 Boyolali. The population was The population of this research is the eighth grade students in MTs N Boyolali that consisted of 10 classes. The sample of the research is class VIII G. The researcher chose the sample by using cluster random sampling technique. The data was collected by using pre-test, treatment and post-test. The analysis qualitative data use in this research was the observation of student’s activities during teaching learning process, and the interview before and after Classroom Action Research (CAR). The result of this research showed that firstly, Random Pictures could improve the students’ Vocabulary Mastery. This improvement was proven by the findings after the research was conducted. The findings were: the students could answer questions about descript the picture correctly, they could determine the thing that descript “picture”, they could summarize the material of descriptive text, and then the score of vocabulary mastery get improve. Those improvements caused by the implementation of Random Pictures are strengthened by the mean score of pre-test and post-test 2. The mean score gets improved from the pre-test to post-test 2. The students get 60.89 in the pre-test and 84 in the post-test 2. There are only 20.54 % students who reach the passing grade (70) in the pre-test. Meanwhile there are 89.47 % students who reach the passing grade on the post-test 2. The improvement of the students who achieve the passing grade is 68.93 %. From those reasons above, it can be concluded that Random Pictures was able to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. Secondly, the students gave good response towards the implementation of Random Pictures in Vocabulary Mastery. It was proved by the result of questionnaire which showed that 77.14 % students like the implementation of Random Pictures for Vocabulary Mastery

Keywords: Teachers’ Problems, English Teaching Learning Process, Assessment, Reading Text, the 2013 Curriculum The objectives of this study are to know the teachers’ problems in using the appropriate method, material, media, and assessment for implementing of the 2013 Curriculum in the English teaching learning reading text of the tenth grade students of MAN Karanganom Klaten in the academic year of 2016/2017. This study used descriptive qualitative research that was called case study. The researcher used interview, observation, and documentation to collect the data. This study was conducted to the English teachers that taught at the tenth grade students of MAN Karanganom Klaten in the academic year of 2016/2017. The researcher analyzed the qualitative data by reducing, displaying, and drawing and verifying conclusion to know the teachers’ problems in the English teaching learning process and assessment of reading text for implementing the 2013 Curriculum at the tenth grade students of MAN Karanganom Klaten in the academic year of 2016/2017. This study was using data triangualation to validate the data. In the result of the study, the researcher concludes that the teachers’ problems in the teaching learning process are of the method, material and media. The teachers’ problems in using method concern: less classroom management, less students’ knowledge, many vocabulary difficulties, lack of pupil interest, students’ low concentration, unindependent students, unreadiness of the teacher to use the PBL method, not making conclusion, unsupportive situation and psychological condition, lesss facilities, and different application from the lesson plan. The problems in using material are that: difficulties in mastery the main material, differences mastery among the students, not available textbook, different application from the lesson plan, unresponsive students, unvariation material, different material each class, and unreadiness of the teacher to determine the material with the time allocation, and unsuitable material with the PBL method. The teacher’s problems in using media are that: the textbook/students’ worksheet book as the one source, the limited media, unsupportive condition of the classroom with the media, students’ low understanding with media, unresponsive students, broken media and unreadiness teacher to use media. The teachers’ problems in doing authentic assessment are that the less mastery in implementing authentic assessment, less mastery in gathering the scores from measurement technique, unvalid score, and unsuitable the authentic assessment with the principles
