Dilaton thin-shell wormholes supported by a generalized Chaplygin gas
In this article, we construct spherical thin-shell wormholes with charge in
dilaton gravity. The exotic matter required for the construction is provided by
a generalized Chaplygin gas. We study the stability under perturbations
preserving the symmetry. We find that the increase of the coupling between the
dilaton and the electromagnetic fields reduces the range of the parameters for

In this article, spherically symmetric thin-shell wormholes supported by a
generalized Chaplygin gas are constructed and their stability under
perturbations preserving the symmetry is studied. Wormholes with charge and
with a cosmological constant are analyzed and the results are compared with
those obtained for the original Chaplygin gas, which was considered in a
previous work. For some values of the parameters, one stable configuration is

Discrete Model of Ideological Struggle Accounting for Migration
A discrete in time model of ideological competition is formulated taking into
account population migration. The model is based on interactions between global
populations of non-believers and followers of different ideologies. The complex
dynamics of the attracting manifolds is investigated.
Conversion from one ideology to another by means of (i) mass media influence
and (ii) interpersonal relations is considered. Moreover a different birth rate
is assumed for different ideologies, the rate being assumed to be positive for
the reference population, made of initially non-believers. Ideological
competition can happen in one or several regions in space. In the latter case,
migration of non-believers and adepts is allowed; this leads to an enrichment
of the ideological dynamics. Finally, the current ideological situation in the
Arab countries and China is commented upon from the point of view of the
presently developed mathematical model. The massive forced conversion by

Stability of Chaplygin gas thin-shell wormholes
In this paper we construct spherical thin-shell wormholes supported by a
Chaplygin gas. For a rather general class of geometries we introduce a new
approach for the stability analysis of static solutions under perturbations
preserving the symmetry. We apply this to wormholes constructed from
Schwarzschild, Schwarzschild-de Sitter, Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter and
Reissner-Nordstrom metrics. In the last two cases, we find that there are

Transport and Boundary Scattering in Confined Geometries: Analytical Results
We utilize a geometric argument to determine the effects of boundary
scattering on the carrier mean-free path in samples of various cross sections.
Analytic expressions for samples with rectangular and circular cross sections
are obtained. We also outline a method for incorporating these results into

Determination of the complex microwave photoconductance of a single quantum dot
A small quantum dot containing approximately 20 electrons is realized in a
two-dimensional electron system of an AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure. Conventional
transport and microwave spectroscopy reveal the dot's electronic structure. By
applying a coherently coupled two-source technique, we are able to determine
the complex microwave induced tunnel current. The amplitude of this
photoconductance resolves photon-assisted tunneling (PAT) in the non-linear
regime through the ground state and an excited state as well. The out-of-phase
component (susceptance) allows to study charge relaxation within the quantum

A study on decision-making of food supply chain based on big data
As more and more companies have captured and analyzed huge volumes of data to improve the performance of supply chain, this paper develops a big data harvest model that uses big data as inputs to make more informed production decisions in the food supply chain. By introducing a method of Bayesian network, this paper integrates sample data and finds a cause-and-effect between data to predict market demand. Then the deduction graph model that translates products demand into processes and divides processes into tasks and assets is presented, and an example of how big data in the food supply chain can be combined with Bayesian network and deduction graph model to guide production decision. Our conclusions indicate that the analytical framework has vast potential for supporting support decision making by extracting value from big data
