Potential of Mentoring in Theological Seminaries

    Get PDF
The goal of theological education is to prepare students for their careers. It does not stop there, however; a further goal of theological education is to enable students to live lives of purpose—thus not only to transfer knowledge to students, but also to channel knowledge into meaningful Christian service. Making connections between faith, living and learning is thus a primary purpose of theological education. These necessary connections are made between faculty, staff and students by establishing and maintaining mentoring relationships. Hence, this article considers the prospects of mentoring in theological seminaries with the aim of challenging seminaries to revisit the use of mentoring in the preparation of students

Simulation of vertical water flow representing the release of water from the vadose zone to the aquifer of surroundings within Nigerian Defence Academy (34km2) for a sustainable ground water resources management was carried out using Advanced Simulation and Modelling of Urban Ground Water Management (UGROW model).Rainfall data, soil moisture and runoff coefficient are specified as input data into the model. Basic component of the vertical water balance (precipitation, leakages, evaporation and runoff)was observed. From the results, 4.0cm/day of average leakage observed for the period 1991-2001 was the maximum leakage for the simulation. Keywords: Vadose zone, Simulation, Groundwater, Unsaturation, Mode

Cilj je teološke naobrazbe pripremiti studente za njihovu karijeru. Međutim, to nije kraj.

Background: The purpose of this study is to assess the prevalence and factors associated with dry eye disease (DES) in adult patients with a view to improving the diagnosis and management. Patients, Materials and Methods: Two hundred and sixty-six (266) adults were enrolled into the study. Ocular surface disease index (OSDI) scores, tear film break up time (TBUT) test, Schirmer’s test, and epithelial staining with fluorescein were performed on all the participants. Comprehensive analysis of data using IBM SPSS version 23 was done. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: Two hundred and sixty-six participants were examined. The sample mean age was 44.75 years ± 14.38 standard deviation Dry eye prevalence in the sample was 45.9% (95% confidence interval: 39%–52%), the prevalence was 62% by the OSDI, 54.1% by TBUT test, 30.5% by Schirmer’s test while 70.3% of the participants had abnormal fluorescein corneal staining. The role of clergy can be demanding, as they are tasked with providing spiritual guidance and support to their congregation. This responsibility can result in occupational stress, which can affect the clergy and their family relationships. This study investigated the influence of occupational stress on quality family relationships among clergy in Christ Is The Answer Ministries, Kenya (CITAM). A pragmatist lens which informs the adoption of mixed methods research design was used. Out of a sample size of 135, 115 respondents comprising of 57 pastors, 40 spouses and 18 children participated in the study. Ethical considerations were adhered to by receiving the necessary approvals and licenses before commencing the study. Primary data was collected using questionnaires and focus group discussions which were all done online. Quantitative data was analyzed using the linear regression technique in SPSS Version 28 and presented through tables. The qualitative data was transcribed and analysed using thematic analysis approach with identification of key themes. Findings showed that the clergy families have high quality family relationships (x̅=3.4635, x = .37655). Thematic analysis revealed that having intentionality and maintaining clear boundaries between work and personal life would help clergy improve the quality of their family relationships. The study recommended that churches should collaborate with family therapists to offer therapy session to all members of the clergy
