    1,2-Bis[(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)methylidene]hydrazine

The complete molecule of the title compound, C16H12N2O4, is generated by the application of a centre of inversion. The (1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)methylidene fused-ring system is approximately planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.020 Å) and is essentially coplanar with the central hydrazine group [dihedral angle = 5.08 (9)°]. Weak π–π intermolecular interactions are observed [centroid–centroid distance = 3.8553 (8) Å], providing some packing stability

    1,2-Bis(3-phenoxybenzylidene)hydrazine

Molecules of the title compound, C26H20N2O2, reside on crystallographic centres of inversion located at the mid-point of the N—N bond. The benzylidene ring is essentially coplanar with the central hydrazine group, with an interplanar angle of 4.5 (2)°, whereas the phenyl ring is oriented at 34.0 (3)° with respect to the mean plane of the central 1,2-dibenzylidenehydrazine group. In the crystal, C—H⋯π(arene)-ring interactions link molecules about inversion centres

The 13th International Automated Negotiating Agent Competition Challenges and Results

    Get PDF
An international competition for negotiating agents has been organized for years to facilitate research in agent-based negotiation and to encourage the design of negotiating agents that can operate in various scenarios. The 13th International Automated Negotiating Agents Competition (ANAC 2022) was held in conjunction with IJCAI2022. In ANAC2022, we had two leagues: Automated Negotiation League (ANL) and Supply Chain Management League (SCML). For the ANL, the participants designed a negotiation agent that can learn from the previous bilateral negotiation sessions it was involved in. In contrast, the research challenge was to make the right decisions to maximize the overall profit in a supply chain environment, such as determining with whom and when to negotiate. This chapter describes the overview of ANL and SCML in ANAC2022, and reports the results of each league, respectively

Distributed Medical Image Analysis and Diagnosis through Crowd-Sourced Games: A Malaria Case Study

    Get PDF
In this work we investigate whether the innate visual recognition and learning capabilities of untrained humans can be used in conducting reliable microscopic analysis of biomedical samples toward diagnosis. For this purpose, we designed entertaining digital games that are interfaced with artificial learning and processing back-ends to demonstrate that in the case of binary medical diagnostics decisions (e.g., infected vs. uninfected), with the use of crowd-sourced games it is possible to approach the accuracy of medical experts in making such diagnoses. Specifically, using non-expert gamers we report diagnosis of malaria infected red blood cells with an accuracy that is within 1.25% of the diagnostics decisions made by a trained medical professional

Reactive Molecular Dynamics study on the first steps of DNA-damage by free hydroxyl radicals

We employ a large scale molecular simulation based on bond-order ReaxFF to simulate the chemical reaction and study the damage to a large fragment of DNA-molecule in the solution by ionizing radiation. We illustrate that the randomly distributed clusters of diatomic OH-radicals that are primary products of megavoltage ionizing radiation in water-based systems are the main source of hydrogen-abstraction as well as formation of carbonyl- and hydroxyl-groups in the sugar-moiety that create holes in the sugar-rings. These holes grow up slowly between DNA-bases and DNA-backbone and the damage collectively propagate to DNA single and double strand break.Comment: 6 pages and 8 figures. movies and simulations are available at: http://qmsimulator.wordpress.com

Temporal bone verrucous carcinoma: outcomes and treatment controversy

    Get PDF
Verrucous carcinoma is a rare tumor that presents in the head and neck with the most common sites being the oral cavity and larynx. Fourteen cases of verrucous carcinoma of the temporal bone have been described in literature; this study aims to examine treatment outcomes and discuss the controversy surrounding postoperative radiation. The study design included a literature review along with individual case report in the setting of a tertiary care medical center. Outcome analysis of all cases of verrucous carcinoma of the temporal bone, which are documented in the English literature, and presentation of a single patient report including gross, histologic and radiologic analyses were performed. The longest recorded survival for verrucous carcinoma of the temporal bone occurs in patients treated with surgery alone. Poorer outcomes for patients treated with adjuvant (chemo)radiation may be due to more advanced stage of disease at the time of treatment. Early reports of radiation leading to tumor dedifferentiation or early recurrence are not supported by more recent studies. Whether adjuvant radiation therapy is indicated in verrucous carcinoma of the temporal bone remains controversial
