Three species are new for the Northern Territory of Australia: Acrolejeunea securifolia (Nees) Steph. ex Watts ssp. securifolia, Archilejeunea planiuscula (Mitt.) Steph. and Mastigolejeunea ligulata (Lehm. & Lindenb.) Schiffn., and one for Queensland: Thysananthus australis (Steph.) B. Thiers & Gradst. New records of species are given, which were previously known only from one or very few localities, including: Caudalejeunea cristiloba (Steph.) Gradst. and Lopholejeunea plicatiscypha (Taylor) Steph

Ptychanthoideae (subfam. of Lejeuneaceae, Hepaticae) from Vanuatu : with the description of Caudalejeunea streimannii Gyarmati sp. n.

A list of 18 Lejeuneaceae (subfam. Ptychanthoideae) species of Vanuatu is given based on the collection of the late Heinar Streimann, identified by the Author. 12 species are new to Vanuatu, and one out of them is new to science

DCU at MediaEval 2010 – Tagging task WildWildWeb

We describe our runs and results for the fixed label Wild Wild Web Tagging Task at MediaEval 2010. Our experiments indicate that including all words in the ASR transcripts of the document set results in better labeling accuracy than restricting the index to only words with recognition confidence above a fixed level. Additionally our results show that tagging accuracy can be improved by incorporating additional metadata describing the documents where it is available

When to cross Over? Cross-language linking using Wikipedia for VideoCLEF 2009

We describe Dublin City University (DCU)'s participation in the VideoCLEF 2009 Linking Task. Two approaches were implemented using the Lemur information retrieval toolkit. Both approaches rst extracted a search query from the transcriptions of the Dutch TV broadcasts. One method rst performed search on a Dutch Wikipedia archive, then followed links to corresponding pages in the English Wikipedia. The other method rst translated the extracted query using machine translation and then searched the English Wikipedia collection directly. We found that using the original Dutch transcription query for searching the Dutch Wikipedia yielded better results

Models and the crisis The pricing and risks of synthetic CDOs

    Get PDF
We shortly discuss the mathematical modeling and its problems of one of the structured credit derivatives, the synthetic CDOs. These financial products were among the favorites prior to the crisis, and there was a general view that the mathematical models caused or at least boosted it. We focus only on the mathematical description of these derivatives, therefore our analysis concentrates purely on the problems coming directly from the model, we ignore the related practical problems. We find that not only the tools used in the modeling were inappropriate, but the principle used for pricing was also not correct in the framework of risk-neutral pricing. To our knowledge no one has highlighted these theoretical problems so far.well as loan use pattern of the members.

On the complexity of a family based on irreducible polynomials

Ahlswede, Khachatrian, Mauduit and Sårközyy introduced the f-complexity measure ("f" for family) in order to study pseudorandom properties of large families of binary sequences. So far several families have been studied by this measure. In the present paper I considerably improve on my earlier result in [7], where the f-complexity measure of a family based on the Legendre symbol and polynomials over Fp is studied. This paper also extends the earlier results to a family restricted on irreducible polynomials
