    Representing Conversations for Scalable Overhearing

Open distributed multi-agent systems are gaining interest in the academic community and in industry. In such open settings, agents are often coordinated using standardized agent conversation protocols. The representation of such protocols (for analysis, validation, monitoring, etc) is an important aspect of multi-agent applications. Recently, Petri nets have been shown to be an interesting approach to such representation, and radically different approaches using Petri nets have been proposed. However, their relative strengths and weaknesses have not been examined. Moreover, their scalability and suitability for different tasks have not been addressed. This paper addresses both these challenges. First, we analyze existing Petri net representations in terms of their scalability and appropriateness for overhearing, an important task in monitoring open multi-agent systems. Then, building on the insights gained, we introduce a novel representation using Colored Petri nets that explicitly represent legal joint conversation states and messages. This representation approach offers significant improvements in scalability and is particularly suitable for overhearing. Furthermore, we show that this new representation offers a comprehensive coverage of all conversation features of FIPA conversation standards. We also present a procedure for transforming AUML conversation protocol diagrams (a standard human-readable representation), to our Colored Petri net representation

    Well-poised generation of Ap\'ery-like recursions

The idea to use classical hypergeometric series and, in particular, well-poised hypergeometric series in diophantine problems of the values of the polylogarithms has led to several novelties in number theory and neighbouring areas of mathematics. Here we present a systematic approach to derive second-order polynomial recursions for approximations to some values of the Lerch zeta function, depending on the fixed (but not necessarily real) parameter α\alpha satisfying the condition ℜ(α)<1\Re(\alpha)<1. Substituting α=0\alpha=0 into the resulting recurrence equations produces the famous recursions for rational approximations to ζ(2)\zeta(2), ζ(3)\zeta(3) due to Ap\'ery, as well as the known recursion for rational approximations to ζ(4)\zeta(4). Multiple integral representations for solutions of the constructed recurrences are also given.Comment: 8 pages; to appear in the Proceedings of the 7th OPSFA (Copenhagen, 18--22 August 2003

Market overview of the couponing business in Russia

The purpose of the research was to gather information about Russian market in couponing business and to know how to get the full market potential. The research questions were what the current situation of the couponing business is, how online shopping works in Russia and how to increase brand awareness through marketing methods. The whole sector of online shopping in Russia is still on the low level of development, that is why it is important to look more detailed on the market and find new development strategies. The topic of the thesis is directly linked to the digital industry that is why the data were collected via various online articles, books, e-books, journals, and interviews. In the research, the secondary data were mainly used and supported by quantitative research methods. Also, the research includes a qualitative research method - interview with a Team Leader of the Russian team. Statistics were based on different sources and real-life examples. The research found that Russian market has a high potential, however, still there are some issues why people do not trust online shopping (example – delivery, timing, etc.). Moreover, it is a different culture where people are not educated enough about the ways of saving money. By building a couponing business in Russia significance goes to the cultural differences, research includes comparison with other countries. Another significant aspect is SEO. There are many ways to improve SEO activities, however, the issue of low coupons awareness brings the websites to suffer from low traffic. The findings also indicate the significance of marketing tools in e-commerce niche. There are main principles to succeed in e-mail marketing and social media which we are going to implement in our daily activities to see how it will affect the revenues. Affiliate marketing is really big in Russia, it is growing and developing and with the help of White Label strategies, which is the focus of the taken start-up business, it is possible to gain a strong customer base

Inferred Influence of Human Lateral Profile on Limb Load Asymmetry during a Quiet Standing Balance Test

Although the identification and characterisation of a participant's lateral profile during quiet standing have not received much research attention, they have the potential to greatly extend our understanding of upright stance stability control. This study further examines limb load asymmetries during quiet bipedal stance. During voluntary frontal-plane weight shifting for 2 min, 300 centre-of-pressure displacements on 14 blindfolded right-handed young adults were recorded. Four biomechanical indices were used to assess postural behaviour. These were the bias of time and the magnitude of the partial ground reaction forces from both legs, and the bias in the number and magnitude of microshifts influencing stability. Our study identifies a significant level of asymmetry in the quiet bipedal stance of right-handed people. This asymmetry is associated with the right-sided bias of the ground reaction force and the angle of inclination to the upright (vertical) centroidal line. We found that the initial lateralisation of the partial ground reaction forces from both feet, as well as the period of ground reaction force bias, are important elements in any clinical tests involving quiet bipedal stance.</p

Automatic Setup / Configuration for New Devices

    Get PDF
The present disclosure describes systems and methods that provide for automated setup and/or configuration of new devices for a user. More particularly, the present disclosure can enable automatic setup and/or configuration of a new device for a user based on a user’s already provisioned device. In an example implementation, a user-new device association can be established for a new device and the user and the user-new device association can be provided to a user’s already provisioned companion device. The user’s companion device can use the user-new device association to identify a new device and begin an automated setup and/or configuration of the new device

Terminal Phase Navigation for AUV Docking: An Innovative Electromagnetic Approach

This study introduces a groundbreaking approach for real-time 3D localization, specifically focusing on achieving seamless and precise localization during an AUV's terminal guidance phase as it approaches an omnidirectional docking component in an automated Launch and Recovery System (LARS). Through the use of the AUV's magnetometer, an economical electromagnetic beacon embedded in the docking station, and an advanced signal processing algorithm, this novel approach ensures the accurate localization of the docking component in three dimensions without the need for direct line-of-sight contact. The method's real-time capabilities were rigorously evaluated via simulations, prototype experiments in a controlled lab setting, and extensive full-scale pool experiments. These assessments consistently demonstrated an exceptional average positioning accuracy of under 3 cm., marking a significant advancement in AUV guidance systems
