    Light Quark Masses with an O(a)-Improved Action

    We present the recent Fermilab calculations of the masses of the light quarks, using tadpole-improved Sheikholeslami-Wohlert (SW) quarks. Various sources of systematic errors are studied. Our final result for the average light quark mass in the quenched approximation evaluated in the MSˉ\bar{MS} scheme is mˉq(ÎŒ=2GeV;nf=0)=(mu+md)/2=3.6±0.6MeV\bar{m}_q(\mu=2 GeV;n_f=0)= (m_u+m_d)/2=3.6 \pm 0.6 MeV.Comment: 3 pgs. 3 figures. espcrc2.sty included.     Latent Embedding Feedback and Discriminative Features for Zero-Shot Classification

    © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG. Zero-shot learning strives to classify unseen categories for which no data is available during training. In the generalized variant, the test samples can further belong to seen or unseen categories. The state-of-the-art relies on Generative Adversarial Networks that synthesize unseen class features by leveraging class-specific semantic embeddings. During training, they generate semantically consistent features, but discard this constraint during feature synthesis and classification. We propose to enforce semantic consistency at all stages of (generalized) zero-shot learning: training, feature synthesis and classification. We first introduce a feedback loop, from a semantic embedding decoder, that iteratively refines the generated features during both the training and feature synthesis stages. The synthesized features together with their corresponding latent embeddings from the decoder are then transformed into discriminative features and utilized during classification to reduce ambiguities among categories. Experiments on (generalized) zero-shot object and action classification reveal the benefit of semantic consistency and iterative feedback, outperforming existing methods on six zero-shot learning benchmarks.     Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm does not Improve Early Survival versus Open Repair in Patients Younger than 60 Years

    AbstractObjectivesMultiple randomised trials have demonstrated lower perioperative mortality after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) compared to open surgical repair for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). However, in these trials the mortality advantage for EVAR is being lost within 2 years of repair and the patients evaluated are relatively older with no study specifically comparing EVAR and open repair for patients younger than 60 years of age.DesignA retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data.Materials and methodsPatients younger than 60 years of age who underwent EVAR and open surgical repair for elective infrarenal AAA were identified from the 2007–09 National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) – a prospective database maintained at 237 centres across the United States. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed.ResultsOf the 651 patients, 369 (56.7%) underwent EVAR and 282 (43.3%) underwent open repair. Thirty-day mortality for EVAR and open repair were 1.1% and 0.4%, respectively. This was not significantly different on univariate (P = 0.22) as well as multivariate (P = 0.69) analysis after controlling for other co-morbidities. On multivariate analysis, body mass index, history of stroke and bleeding disorder prior to surgery were associated with a higher 30-day mortality after AAA repair (combined open and EVAR).ConclusionsThese contemporary results demonstrate that the 30-day mortality rate after open repair is similar to that after EVAR in patients younger than 60 years with infrarenal AAA

    Protein/energy ratio and HUFA content in the diet of Pangasianodon hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) fingerlings: Effect on growth and flesh quality

    A 60 day feeding trial was conducted to study the effect of varying levels of protein/energy (P/E) ratio and highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) supplemented diet on growth and flesh quality parameters of Pangasianodon hypophthalmus fingerlings. One hundred and eighty fingerlings of uniform weight (4.32±0.08g) were randomly distributed into five treatment groups with three replications. The five different treatment groups were: Control - T0H0 (basal feed+117 mg/kcal, P/E ratio); T1H0 (basal feed +100 mg/kcal, P/E ratio); T2H0 (basal feed +133 mg/kcal, P/E ratio); T3H1 (basal feed +100 mg/kcal, P/E ratio+1% HUFA) and T4H1 (basal feed + 133 mg/kcal, P/E ratio+1% HUFA). Significantly higher (P<0.05) weight gain (WG) %, specific growth rate (SGR), and feed conversion efficiency (FCE) were observed in the T4H1 and T2H0 groups. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) were lowest in the T4H1 group. T3H1 and T4H1 groups manifested significantly higher (P<0.05) value for flesh quality indices such as springiness, adhesiveness, gumminess, and chewiness. Lowest hardness value was found in T4H1 group. Significantly higher (P<0.05) EPA and DHA deposition in fish muscle was observed in T4H1 group. Protease activity was higher in T4H1 group followed by T2H0 group and lowest in T1H0 group. Amylase activity was lower in T2H0 and T4H1 groups. Overall results revealed that P/E ratio of 133 mg/kcal with additional supplementation of 1% HUFA in the diet enhances growth and improves flesh quality of P. hypophthalmus fingerling

    We present numerical results obtained in full QCD with 2 flavors of Wilson fermions. We discuss the relation between the phase of Polyakov loops and the {\bf sea} quarks boundary conditions.     Persistent currents in a Bose-Einstein condensate in the presence of disorder

    We examine bosonic atoms that are confined in a toroidal, quasi-one-dimensional trap, subjected to a random potential. The resulting inhomogeneous atomic density is smoothened for sufficiently strong, repulsive interatomic interactions.     Quenched BKB_K-parameter with the Wilson and Clover actions at ÎČ=6.0\beta = 6.0

    We present results for the Kaon BB parameter from a sample of 200200 configurations using the Wilson action and 460460 configurations using the Clover action, on a 183×6418^3 \times 64 lattice at ÎČ=6.0\beta=6.0. A slight improvement of the chiral behaviour of BKB_K is observed due to the Clover action. We have also compared the results for BKB_K obtained from two different procedures for the boosting of the coupling constant gg. We observe a strong dependence of BKB_K on the prescription adopted for gg in the Wilson case, contrary to the results of the Clover case which are almost unaffected by the choice of gg.     Differential Equations for Definition and Evaluation of Feynman Integrals

    It is shown that every Feynman integral can be interpreted as Green function of some linear differential operator with constant coefficients. This definition is equivalent to usual one but needs no regularization and application of RR-operation.
