Fabrication of Multi-chamber Graphene Liquid Cell and Characterization of Liquid

    No full text
In this study, a graphene/anodic aluminum oxide (AAO)/graphene liquid cell was fabricated. Five nanometer gold nanoparticles dispersed in trisodium citrate buffer were used as a test system to prove the quality of the liquid cell. The liquid was observed and characterized using a Hitachi HT7700 TEM. A two-stage liquid dynamical process was discovered when the liquid was irradiated by the electron beam, and the first stage is dependent on the amount of liquid. Besides, liquid droplets were observed in the liquid cell which could be explained by the surface effect of AAO membrane and graphene. The sandwiched nanopore liquid cell showed a self-closing effect and a good sealing quality of liquid sample, which would possibly enable a true single particle imaging and reconstruction in the future.M.A.S
