Opportunities and Challenges of Zinc Anodes in Rechargeable Aqueous Batteries

    Get PDF
Aqueous rechargeable zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) have recently attracted increasing research interests due to their high safety, low cost, abundant resources, and eco-friendliness compared with commercial lithium-ion batteries. However, problems of zinc anodes in ZIBs such as zinc dendrites and side reactions severely shorten the cycling lifetime and restrict the practical application of ZIBs. In this review, the fundamental understanding of existing issues including dendrite formation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution are mainly revealed, the current existing strategies on the protection of the zinc electrode and electrolyte engineering in the aqueous electrolyte are discussed. In addition, the existing techniques applied on analyzing the interaction between anodes and electrolytes are summarized. Furthermore, perspectives and suggestions are provided to design highly stable zinc anodes

LncRNA TUG1 facilitates the development of endometrial cancer via interaction with FXR1

Purpose: To investigate the potential influence of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) TUG1 on the development of endometrial cancer (EC).Methods: A total of 24 paired EC species and paracancerous species were collected, and the differential expressions of TUG1 in them were determined. The regulatory effects of TUG1 on proliferative and migratory potential in Ishikawa and HEC-1A cells were assessed using cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and Transwell assay, respectively. Potential protein binding TUG1 was predicted by bioinformatics analysis and subsequently verified using RIP (RNA-Binding Protein Immunoprecipitation) assay. Rescue experiments were conducted to uncover the mechanism of TUG1 in regulating the development of EC.Results: TUG1 was highly expressed in EC species and cell lines. Higher levels of TUG1 was observed in EC patients with metastases than those without metastatic cancer (p < 0.05). Overexpression of TUG1 markedly facilitated proliferative and migratory potential in EC cells. Taurine-upregulated gene 1 (TUG1) directly bound Fragile X-related protein 1 (FXR1) and positively regulated its level (p < 0.05). Through interaction with FXR1, TUG1 stimulated the malignant development of EC.Conclusion: LncRNA TUG1 is upregulated in EC species, which facilitates proliferative and migratory potentials in EC cells by interacting with FXR1

The present article aims to provide a theoretical foundation for the evaluation and categorization of the knowledge domain of Chain and Network Science (CNS). It aims to clarify what the field of CNS includes and to investigate where we stand in developing CNS. It elaborates on a number of important theories that provide insight in the structure and activities of actors in chains and networks, and discusses the key issues that are raised by each theory. It concludes by suggesting some important research questions in the field of CNS, integrating the different theoretical perspectives, and touching upon a number of management challenges for the years to come

Protein interactions between surface annexin A2 and S100A10 mediate adhesion of breast cancer cells to microvascular endothelial cells

AbstractAnnexin A2 (AnxA2) and S100A10 are known to form a molecular complex. Using fluorescence-based binding assays, we show that both proteins are localised on the cell surface, in a molecular form that allows mutual interaction. We hypothesized that binding between these proteins could facilitate cell–cell interactions. For cells that express surface S100A10 and surface annexin A2, cell–cell interactions can be blocked by competing with the interaction between these proteins. Thus an annexin A2-S100A10 molecular bridge participates in cell–cell interactions, revealing a hitherto unexplored function of this protein interaction
