This paper examines the possibilities to make the handling of orders and storage for tablets more efficient for Företag As warehouse in Barkarby. The work is limited to the company’s warehouse in Barkarby and to the two largest manufacturers for tablets; Apple and Samsung. This is a relatively new subject because it is a relatively new market around the world, which has exploded since Apple released their first tablet. Because Företag A sells every manufacturer’s tablet, all with different demands, it makes the organisation of orders and storage quite difficult. The formulated questions which this paper is based on are: Which of the theoretical models about orderhandeling can best be applied on the case of Företag A Barkarby? What measures can be used to make the current way of working more efficient? With these questions as a starting point some models have been studied whether they fit in theory and practice in the way Företag A works when it comes to handling the most sold tablets in their storage. Through studying their way of working suiting models can be applied. The case study has mainly been implemented by after reading student literature discussing the problems with people who works at Företag A; both at the head quarters and in the warehouse in Barkarby. The result from this essay is that there isn’t any model which fits 100 % on Företag A’s way of work, but there are other factors that can be changed to get a more continuous and overseeing order process. The market for tablets is very unpredictable and fluctuates often without a worked out pattern. The only sure thing is the demand with the two most popular manufacturers when they release a new model. The market for electronic chains is extremely competition controlled, not only in Sweden but in all of Europe, which makes it even more important to have the right quantity in storage. If the product that the customers want isn’t available they simply go somewhere else, since the prices are the same everywhere

The aim of this study is to conduct a critical analysis of two video games through the perspective of gender studies. The reason for doing the analysis is implicitly connected to education. The results produced by this study are meant to showcase how video games can be analyzed critically, similar to how a novel or a movie can be analyzed. Sequentially, this will serve as an example how video games can be the subject in English education. The implicit aim of this study is to give the reader a sense of what video games can provide in terms of education, how they can be used within the classroom, how they differ from other mediums, and how they can be analyzed

Reliability Engineering Methods for Distribution Systems - Influence of Differences between Cable Systems and Overhead Lines

One way to increase distribution network reliability is to replace traditional overhead lines with underground cables. To fully utilize these investments, network owners will have to adjust their reliability engineering methods to suit the new cable networks. In this paper different condition assessment methods as well as improved failure statistics for cable systems are considered. The paper is based on information from project reports and scientific papers. In addition a number of Swedish distribution network owners have been asked to share their opinion of reliability engineering work of today and the future. The methods used for distribution system condition assessment change as overhead lines are replaced by underground cable. Visual inspections can no longer be used and diagnostic methods are instead introduced. The diagnostic methods are costly to perform. To become frequently used they must prove to be efficient enough to justify the financial means required. New, improved, diagnostic methods are under development and since most cable failures are related to component properties the use of diagnostic methods is likely to increase. Statistics show that a majority of the cable system failures are ageing failures. The ageing failures do not to any large extent depend on environmental factors but on component properties. This implies that component lifetime standard deviation decreases as component data are related to the statistics, yet failure statistics is at present not related to component data. A majority of the network owners contributing to this paper agree that the nature of cable failures, except excavation failures, makes it interesting and useful to related cable data to failure statistics and to share the statistics with other network owners. Several Swedish distribution network owners are in the process of installing new program for network analysis. One challenge is to decide which component data that shall be related to the failure statistics. Operational age, maintenance history, manufacturer and year of manufacturer are four manageable factors which influence on failure statistics is already established but yet not thoroughly evaluated. In addition the method of cable excavation is suggested as a fifth interesting factor related to cable system reliability

Who knows best? : sources of knowledge when giving breastfeeding counseling at pediatric emergency wards

    Get PDF
Background: Baby Friendly hospitals had a positive impact on breastfeeding statistics, but the trend in recent years has been more negative. Parents experience that they get difference advice and healthcare professionals feel that they have diverse skills. The use of nursing routines that encourage and enable breastfeeding are important. Staffs who have received training in breastfeeding support provide a more favorable environment for the family and therefore the parents' interaction with their child were affected positive. There is a lack of further research regarding breastfeeding support outside of obstetric- and neonatal care. Objective: To investigate which sources of knowledge registered nurses and nursing assistants have when giving breastfeeding counseling at pediatric emergency wards. Method: An empirical study with qualitative approach was carried out through in-depth interviews with six informants from two pediatric emergency wards. Latent content analysis was used. Result: The analysis resulted in three categories; Evidence, Parental Involvement and Personal Experiences. The categories were clarified by six subcategories: Education, Professional Experience, Trust in the parent's ability, Sensitive to parents' needs, Breastfeeding Experience and Intuition. Conclusion: To have up to date knowledge and a joint strategy for breastfeeding advice in the pediatric emergency wards are important for breastfeeding counseling. Evidence was seen as most as the important source of knowledge, followed by parental involvement, and when these sources of knowledge were unavailable; knowledge was based on personal experiences.

Empathy in the Classroom through Video Games: How a Video Game Affected the Narrative Empathy of Upper Secondary Students

    Get PDF
Though previously viewed as little more than entertainment, video games have gained much recognition as an art form within recent years, slowly taking their place amongst established media such as literature and films. However, such is not the case within the second language classroom, where video games are vastly ignored in favour of other media. This in spite of research showing the benefits of working with video games in the classroom. The interactive nature of games lends itself greatly to allowing students to explore narratives in a different way than presented by texts or films, and to connect with the characters of those stories on a new level. As the Swedish curriculum for the upper secondary school puts emphasis on students ability to empathise, this study seeks to explore the empathic abilities of students. If exposure to the interactive nature of a video game, rather than a static piece of text, might cause a greater empathic response within the students. Though previous research refers to the empathic benefits of video games in the classroom, the findings of this study will present why the interactive medium of video games might serve as a hindrance for empathy rather than as an advantage

Skills Training in Laboratory and Clerkship: Connections, Similarities, and Differences

Context: During the third semester of a 6 year long curriculum medical students train clinical skills in the skills laboratory (2 hours per week for 9 weeks) as well as in an early, 8 week clinical clerkship at county hospitals. Objectives: to study students’ expectations and attitudes towards skills training in the skills laboratory and clerkship. Subjects: 126 medical students in their 3rd semester. Methods: During the fall of 2001 three consecutive, constructed questionnaires were distributed prior to laboratory training, following laboratory training but prior to clerkships, and following clerkships respectively. Results: Almost all (98%) respondents found that training in skills laboratory improved the outcome of the early clerkship and 70% believed in transferability of skills from the laboratory setting to clerkship. Still, a majority (93%) of students thought that the clerkship provided students with a better opportunity to learn clinical skills when compared to the skills laboratory. Skills training in laboratory as well as in clerkship motivated students for becoming doctors. Teachers in both settings were perceived as being committed to their teaching jobs, to demonstrate skills prior to practice, and to give students feed back with a small but significant more positive rating of the laboratory. Of the 22 skills that students had trained in the laboratory, a majority of students tried out skills associated with physical examination in the clerkship, whereas only a minority of students tried out more intimate skills. Female medical students tried significantly fewer skills during their clerkship compared to male students. Conclusions: Students believe that skills laboratory training prepare them for their subsequent early clerkship but favour the clerkship over the laboratory
