    El manejo nutricional y ambiental como medio para mejorar la salud física y mental de los caballos domésticos

    Los caballos son animales sociales que en condiciones de libertad son capaces de pastorear durante 12-19 horas al día. Esta actividad no sólo les aporta los nutrientes que precisan, sino que también les permite ejercitarse de manera adecuada. Sin embargo, los caballos domésticos son muchas veces alimentados con raciones con un contenido escaso en fibra en alojamientos exiguos, lo que conduce en muchas ocasiones al desarrollo de trastornos digestivos y del comportamiento. Entre los primeros, los más frecuentes son los cólicos derivados de una excesiva fermentación microbiana de carbohidratos que llegan sin digerir al intestino grueso, lo que produce una acidosis que puede traducirse, a medio-largo plazo, en patologías a nivel podal y músculo-esquelético. Entre los segundos, las estereotipias son la manifestación más frecuente. En este trabajo se comentarán estos aspectos y se darán opciones para prevenirlo y mejorar el estado físico y psíquico de estos animales. <br /

    Our social world has been transformed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond the direct impact of the pandemic on physical health, the social distancing measures implemented worldwide to slow down disease transmission have dramatically impacted social interactions &lt;sup&gt;1&lt;/sup&gt; &lt;sup&gt;,&lt;/sup&gt; &lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; . These measures, including orders to stay at home and to maintain a social distance of at least 2 meters, have been essential to limit the spread of the disease, but they have had severe costs for humans as social animals &lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; . Right before and right after the adoption of the most stringent measures in Switzerland in Spring 2020, we were conducting a series of experiments to measure the representation of the so-called peripersonal space - the space immediately surrounding our body, where we normally interact with objects and other individuals &lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt; . We found that the introduction of social distancing measures led to a reduction in the extent of the peripersonal space and enhanced its segregation between individuals, as if the presence of others in close space would activate an implicit form of freezing response

    Measurement of differential J/ψJ/\psi production cross-sections and forward-backward ratio in p+Pb collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Measurements of differential cross-sections for J/ψJ/\psi production in p+Pb collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02 TeV at the LHC with the ATLAS detector are presented. The data set used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 28.1 nb1^{-1}. The J/ψJ/\psi mesons are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel over the transverse momentum range 8<pT<308<p_{\mathrm{T}}<30 GeV and over the center-of-mass rapidity range 2.87<y<1.94-2.87<y^{*}<1.94. Prompt J/ψJ/\psi are separated from J/ψJ/\psi resulting from bb-hadron decays through an analysis of the distance between the J/ψJ/\psi decay vertex and the event primary vertex. The differential cross-section for production of nonprompt J/ψJ/\psi is compared to a FONLL calculation that does not include nuclear effects. Forward-backward production ratios are presented and compared to theoretical predictions. These results constrain the kinematic dependence of nuclear modifications of charmonium and bb-quark production in p+Pb collisions
