    Analyzing solar, cosmic, and geophysical events in September 2017 using SHIСRA SB RAS complex observations

    We report the results of monitoring of cosmic rays and geomagnetic field along 210 magnetic meridians in Yakutia in the first half of September 2017. The energy spectrum of solar cosmic rays during Ground Level Enhancement in September 10, 2017 is estimated as J=3027E–1.99exp(–E/729 MeV). We present the results of the forecast and complex analysis of the magnetic storm on September 7–9, 2017 with Dst=–124 nT. The forecast lead time is about one day. We examine how the storm affected the electric potential and VLF signal propagation from RSDN-20 radio navigation stations. Irregular Pi3–Pi1 pulsations occurred during the September 8, 2017 magnetic storm from 12 to 20 UT. The pulsations were accompanied by variations in electrotelluric potentials and geomagnetic fields with the correlation coefficient between them ρ(E, H)=0.5÷0.9. The effects of the magnetic storm manifested themselves as an increase in the attenuation and a decrease in the phase delay of VLF radio signals

    The first lasing near the wavelength of 140 µm was achieved in April 2003 using a high-power free electron laser (FEL) constructed at the Siberian Center for Photochemical Research. In this paper we briefly describe the design of the FEL driven by an accelerator–recuperator. Characteristics of the electron beam and terahertz laser radiation, obtained in the first experiments, are also presented in the paper.У Сибірському центрі фотохімічних досліджень навесні 2003 року отримана генерація випромінювання з довжиною хвилі 140 мкм на потужному лазері на вільних електронах (ЛВЕ).     The Psychological Science Accelerator’s COVID-19 rapid-response dataset

    In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Psychological Science Accelerator coordinated three large-scale psychological studies to examine the effects of loss-gain framing, cognitive reappraisals, and autonomy framing manipulations on behavioral intentions and affective measures. The data collected (April to October 2020) included specific measures for each experimental study, a general questionnaire examining health prevention behaviors and COVID-19 experience, geographical and cultural context characterization, and demographic information for each participant. Each participant started the study with the same general questions and then was randomized to complete either one longer experiment or two shorter experiments. Data were provided by 73,223 participants with varying completion rates. Participants completed the survey from 111 geopolitical regions in 44 unique languages/dialects. The anonymized dataset described here is provided in both raw and processed formats to facilitate re-use and further analyses. The dataset offers secondary analytic opportunities to explore coping, framing, and self-determination across a diverse, global sample obtained at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which can be merged with other time-sampled or geographic data

    Assimilationism, Multiculturalism, Colorblindness, and Polyculturalism in the Russian Context

    The present study examined the relationships between interethnic ideologies (assimilation, colorblindness, multiculturalism, polyculturalism) and generalized and specific prejudice towards Chechens, Belarusians, Uzbeks, and Chinese from the of perception ethnic Russian citizens. In order to take into account of the specific context of intergroup relations in Russia, we also included intergroup contact experience, which potentially associated with prejudice and intergroup tension (frequency and positivity of interethnic contacts, positive interethnic emotions) and perceived neighborhood ethnic density. The results indicated that colorblind and polycultural interethnic ideologies had negative associations with generalized prejudice and prejudice towards Chechens, Uzbeks, and Chinese but not with prejudice towards Belarusians, which was negatively associated with only multicultural interethnic ideology. The total sample was 359 ethnic Russians (female 46,5 %; male 53,5%) from the Central Federal district of the Russian Federation in the age from 16 to 68 years (M = 33,9; SD = 11,9).The obtained results were explained by perceived cultural distance and existing stereotypes towards considered ethnic groups. According to the perspective of two dimensions of the stereotype content model (warmth and competence), these stereotypes are substantially different

    Уровень экспрессии микроРНК у кардиохирургических пациентов зависит от наличия полиорганной недостаточности в послеоперационном периоде

    Aim: To assess the level of microRNA expression in the serum of patients who had undergone cardiac surgery depending on the postoperative complications (presence or absence of multiorgan failure, MOF). Materials and methods: The study group included 87 patients who had undergone heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. The patients without postoperative complications comprised group 1 (n = 51), whereas those with postoperative MOF were in group 2 (n = 36). In all patients, blood samples were collected at two time points: before surgery and at 36 to 48 hours after surgery. The following miRNAs were chosen for the study: hsa-miR-486-5p (478128_miR), hsa-miR-191-5p (477952_miR), hsa-miR-192-5p (478262_miR), hsa-miR-146a-5p (478399_miR), hsa-miR-26a-5p (477995_miR), hsa-miR-30d-5p (478606_miR), hsa-miR-23a-3p (478532_miR), and hsa-miR-320a-5p (481049_miR). Polymerase chain reaction results were normalized to hsa-miR-16-5p (4427975). Results: Up-regulating miRNAs. Compared to baseline, there was a significant postoperative increase in miR-486-5p microRNA expression (group 1, 41.83 [19.86; 74.6] vs 940 [434.7; 1212.0]; group 2, 72.55 [21.37; 100.2] vs 492.4 [201.2; 998.0]; both p 0.001). An increase in the of microRNA miR-192-5p expression in the postoperative period was found both in the no-MOF group (from 0.39 [0.16; 1.07] at baseline to 5.96 [3.74; 10.35] after surgery, p = 0.002), and in the MOF group (from 1.74 [0.45; 3.35] at baseline to 17.16 [4.70; 24.96] after surgery, p = 0.003), with a statistically higher level of expression in group 2 (p = 0.028). Similar changes over time were observed for miR-30d-5p expression: group 1, 1.61 [0.47; 4.36] at baseline vs 5.03 [2.93; 6.56] after surgery (p = 0.002), group 2, 0.89 [0.32; 4.27] at baseline and 6.63 [3.92; 12.82] after surgery, respectively (p = 0.0045). Down-regulating miRNAs. The miR-191-5 and miR-146a-5p families demonstrated a significant increase in group 1 after surgery (3.85 [1.64; 5.6] vs 7.7 [5.48; 9.68], p = 0.021; and 18.1 [6.52; 19.9] vs 37.27 [29.13; 47.07], p = 0.016, respectively) and a significant postoperative decrease in group 2 (3.67 [2.60; 7.61] vs 1.66 [0.52; 2.36], p = 0.023; and 14.75 [12.79; 21.77] vs 5.96 [2.8; 8.2], p = 0.034, respectively), with between-group difference in the postoperative expression levels being also significant. As regards to miR-26a-5p и miR-23a-3p families, there was a similar trend: the group with uncomplicated postoperative course was had virtually no changes over time in their expression (the increase was non-significant), whereas the MOF group had lower postoperative values for this microRNA family. The between-group differences after surgery were significant for miR-26a-5p (group 1, 6.79 [3.38; 8.46], group 2, 0.26 [0.18; 1.9], p = 0.037) and for miR-23a-3p (14.14 [11.92; 26.63] and 2.0 [1.02; 4.18], respectively, p 0.001). Conclusion: When comparing microRNA expression before surgery, we did not find any significant differences between the patients groups without and with MOF. Assessment of microRNA expression in the no-MOF group after surgery showed an increase in the expression of microRNAs responsible both for up regulation (miR-486-5p, miR-192-5p, miR-30d-5p) and for down regulation (miR-191-5p, miR-146a-5p). In the group with a complicated postoperative course and with MOF, changes over time in the up-regulating microRNAs were characterized by increased expression (miR-486-5p, miR-192-5p, miR-30d-5p), whereas the down-regulating microRNAs (miR-191-5p, miR-146a-5p) demonstrated significantly decreased expression, which was different both that in the no-MOF group and from the baseline values.Цель оценить уровень экспрессии микроРНК в сыворотке пациентов, перенесших кардиохирургическое вмешательство, в зависимости от осложнений послеоперационного периода (наличия или отсутствия полиорганной недостаточности ПОН). Материал и методы. В группу исследования вошли 87 пациентов, оперированных на сердце в условиях искусственного кровообращения. Первую группу составили пациенты, не имевшие осложнений (n = 51), 2-ю пациенты с развитием ПОН (n = 36). У всех пациентов проводился сбор крови в двух временных точках: до операции и спустя 3648 часов после операции. Для исследования отобраны следующие микроРНК: hsa-miR-486-5p (478128_miR), hsa-miR-191-5p (477952_miR), hsa-miR-192-5p (478262_miR), hsa-miR-146a-5p (478399_miR), hsa-miR-26a-5p (477995_miR), hsa-miR-30d-5p (478606_miR), hsa-miR-23a-3p (478532_miR), hsa-miR-320a-5p (481049_miR). Нормализацию результатов полимеразной цепной реакции выполняли при помощи hsa-miR-16-5p (4427975). Результаты. Up-регулирующие микроРНК. В обеих группах отмечено статистически значимое увеличение экспрессии микроРНК miR-486-5p в послеоперационном периоде по сравнению с исходными показателями: медиана [верхний; нижний квартили] для 1-й группы была до операции 41,83 [19,86; 74,6] и после операции 940 [434,7; 1212,0]; для 2-й группы 72,55 [21,37; 100,2] и 492,4 [201,2; 998,0] соответственно; p 0,001 для обоих сравнений. Повышение экспрессии miR-192-5p в послеоперационном периоде наблюдали как в группе без ПОН (0,39 [0,16; 1,07] до операции против 5,96 [3,74; 10,35] после операции, p = 0,002), так и в группе с ПОН (1,74 [0,45; 3,35] против 17,16 [4,70; 24,96], p = 0,003) со статистически значимым более высоким уровнем экспрессии в послеоперационном периоде у пациентов 2-й группы (p = 0,028). Аналогичную динамику показали уровни экспрессии miR-30d-5p: в 1-й группе 1,61 [0,47; 4,36] до операции против 5,03 [2,93; 6,56] после операции, p = 0,002; во 2-й группе 0,89 [0,32; 4,27] и 6,63 [3,92; 12,82] соответственно, p = 0,0045. Down-регулирующие микроРНК. Для семейств miR-191-5p и miR-146a-5p наблюдали статистически значимое увеличение экспрессии после операции в 1-й группе (3,85 [1,64; 5,6] против 7,7 [5,48; 9,68], p = 0,021, и 18,1 [6,52; 19,9] против 37,27 [29,13; 47,07], p = 0,016 соответственно) и статистически значимое снижение уровня экспрессии после операции во 2-й группе (3,67 [2,60; 7,61] против 1,66 [0,52; 2,36], p = 0,023, и 14,75 [12,79; 21,77] против 5,96 [2,8; 8,2], p = 0,034 соответственно), показатель послеоперационной экспрессии между группами также статистически значимо различался. В отношении семейств miR-26a-5p и miR-23a-3p отмечена схожая тенденция: группа с неосложненным течением послеоперационного периода характеризовалась практически полным отсутствием какой-либо динамики уровня экспрессии (незначительное повышение показателя), тогда как для группы с наличием ПОН послеоперационный показатель семейства микроРНК был ниже в точке после операции. При этом межгрупповые различия в точке после операции были статистически значимыми: для miR-26a-5p показатель в 1-й группе составил 6,79 [3,38; 8,46], во 2-й 0,26 [0,18; 1,9], p = 0,037; для miR-23a-3p 14,14 [11,92; 26,63] и 2,0 [1,02; 4,18], p 0,001. Заключение. В ходе сопоставления экспрессии микроРНК до оперативного вмешательства мы не нашли статистически значимых различий между группами пациентов без ПОН и с наличием ПОН. При исследовании экспрессии микроРНК в группе без признаков ПОН после операции наблюдали увеличение экспрессии микроРНК, отвечающих как за up-регуляцию (miR-486-5p, miR-192-5p, miR-30d-5p), так и за down-регуляцию (miR-191-5p, miR-146a-5p). Для группы с осложненным течением послеоперационного периода при наличии ПОН динамика up-регулирующих микроРНК характеризовалась увеличением экспрессии (miR-486-5p, miR-192-5p, miR-30d-5p), тогда как для down-регулирующих микроРНК (miR-191-5p, miR-146a-5p) экспрессия статистически значимо снижалась, отличаясь и от группы без ПОН, и от показателей до операции

    Peculiarities of structure state and mechanical characteristics in ion-plasma condensates of quasibinary system borides W2B5-TiB2

    In order to create high-durable, wear-resistant materials for a wide range of functional applications, comparative investigations of the structure and mechanical characteristics of ion-plasma Ti-W-B nano-crystalline condensates were carried out. The range of condensation rates 0.11÷0.25nm/s was found to be critical for the coatings obtained from the target with 80 vol% W2B5-20 vol% TiB2. Below this, a phase with a cubic lattice (W,Ti)B0.7…1.2(O,N,C)0.3…0.2 formed, while over this range, a solid solution (W,Ti)B2 with a hexagonal lattice and element composition close to the sputtered target was observed. The structure state of the material changed from cluster-crystalline (under low sputter potentials U=0.6…1.0 kV) to textured- crystalline (under U>2.2 kV). Structure perfection improvement with U increase results in higher hardness and elastic modulus of condensates. The conditions of cluster component formation and its effect on hardness and elastic modulus of condensates are discussed.
