Gregory-Laflamme instability of a slowly rotating black string
We study the Gregory-Laflamme instability of a 5-dimensional slowly rotating
black string in which the 4-dimensional section is described by the Kerr black
hole. We treat the rotation in a perturbative way introducing a small parameter
for the rotation. It is found that rotation makes the Gregory-Laflamme
instability stronger. Both the critical wavelength at the onset of instability
and the growth time-scale are found to decrease as the rotation increases.Comment: 26 pages, 1 figur
Private Creeds and their Troubled Authors
This article defends the disputed label “private creeds” as a useful one for describing a number of fourth century texts. Offering such a confession was the normal method for clearing one’s name on charges of heterodoxy in fourth-century Greek Christianity, though writing such a creed made the author susceptible to charges of innovation. A number of letters on Trinitarian doctrine by Basil of Caesarea and Gregory of Nyssa should be read in light of the tradition of private creeds. Indeed, the writings of Basil and Gregory provide unparalleled evidence for the roles such creeds played in Christian disputes of the fourth century
Instabilities of Kerr-AdS_5 x S^5 Spacetime
We study gravitational perturbations of the Kerr-AdS_5 x S^5 spacetime with
equal angular momenta. In this spacetime, we found the two kinds of classical
instabilities, superradiant and Gregory-Laflamme instabilities. The
superradiant instability is caused by the wave amplification via superradiance,
and by wave reflection due to the potential barrier of the AdS spacetime. The
Gregory-Laflamme instability appears in Kaluza-Klein modes of the internal
space S^5 and breaks the symmetry SO(6). Taken into account these
instabilities, the phase structure of Kerr-AdS_5 x S^5 spacetime is revealed.
The implication for the AdS/CFT correspondence is also discussed.Comment: 30 pages, 7 figure

A 10-point interpolatory recursive subdivision algorithm for the generation of parametric surfaces
In this paper, an interpolatory subdivision algorithm for surfaces over arbitrary triangulations is introduced and its properties over uniform triangulations studied. The Butterfly Scheme, which is introduced by Dyn, Gregory and Levin is a special case of this algorithm. In our analysis, the matrix approach is employed and the idea of "Cross Difference of Directional Divided Difference" analysis is presented. This method is a generalization of the technique used by Dyn, Gregory and Levin etc. to analyse univariate subdivision algorithms. It is proved that the algorithm produces smooth surfaces provided the shape parameters are kept within an appropriate range
Cointegration, structural breaks and the demand for money in Bangladesh
This paper allows for endogenous structural breaks in the cointegration equation and investigates if there is a stable demand for money for Bangladesh. We have used the Gregory and Hansen framework and found that there was an intercept shift and a well- determined and stable demand for money in Bangladesh exists.Endogenous structural breaks; Gregory and Hansen method; Demand for money; Bangladesh
