Predictors of response to cognitive-behavioral therapy for body dysmorphic disorder
Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a common and distressing or impairing preoccupation with a perceived defect in physical appearance. Individuals with BDD engage in time-consuming rituals to check, hide, or "fix" their appearance or alleviate distress. BDD is associated with substantial psychosocial impairment and high rates of depression, hospitalization, and suicidality. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is the treatment of choice for BDD, but not everyone benefits. We examined predictors of CBT-related improvement, an important topic that has received very limited investigation. Treatment was delivered in weekly individual sessions over 18-22 weeks. Results indicated that greater motivation/readiness to change (University of Rhode Island Change Assessment Questionnaire), greater treatment expectancy (Treatment Credibility/Expectancy Questionnaire), and better baseline BDD-related insight (Brown Assessment of Beliefs Scale) significantly predicted better CBT response at posttreatment. Baseline BDD symptom severity and depression did not predict outcome, suggesting that even patients with more severe BDD and depressive symptoms can benefit from CBT for BDD. Locating regions in a sequence under density constraints
Several biological problems require the identification of regions in a
sequence where some feature occurs within a target density range: examples
including the location of GC-rich regions, identification of CpG islands, and
sequence matching. Mathematically, this corresponds to searching a string of 0s
and 1s for a substring whose relative proportion of 1s lies between given lower
and upper bounds. We consider the algorithmic problem of locating the longest
such substring, as well as other related problems (such as finding the shortest
substring or a maximal set of disjoint substrings). For locating the longest
such substring, we develop an algorithm that runs in O(n) time, improving upon
the previous best-known O(n log n) result. For the related problems we develop
O(n log log n) algorithms, again improving upon the best-known O(n log n)
results. Practical testing verifies that our new algorithms enjoy significantly
smaller time and memory footprints, and can process sequences that are orders

Non-Pauli Effects from Noncommutative Spacetimes
Noncommutative spacetimes lead to nonlocal quantum field theories (qft's)
where spin-statistics theorems cannot be proved. For this reason, and also
backed by detailed arguments, it has been suggested that they get corrected on
such spacetimes leading to small violations of the Pauli principle. In a recent
paper \cite{Pauli}, Pauli-forbidden transitions from spacetime noncommutativity
were calculated and confronted with experiments. Here we give details of the
computation missing from this paper. The latter was based on a spacetime
different from the Moyal plane. We argue that it

Synchrotron X-ray Diffraction Study of BaFe2As2 and CaFe2As2 at High Pressures up to 56 GPa: Ambient and Low-Temperatures Down to 33 K
We report high pressure powder synchrotron x-ray diffraction studies on
MFe2As2 (M=Ba, Ca) over a range of temperatures and pressures up to about 56
GPa using a membrane diamond anvil cell. A phase transition to a collapsed
tetragonal phase is observed in both compounds upon compression. However, at
300 (33) K in the Ba-compound the transition occurs at 26 (29) GPa, which is a
much higher pressure than 1.7 (0.3) GPa at 300 (40) K in the Ca-compound, due
to its larger volume. It is important to note that the transition in both
compounds occurs when they are compressed to almost the same value of the unit
cell volume and attain similar ct/at ratios. We also show that the FeAs4
tetrahedra are much less compressible and more distorted in the collapsed
tetragonal phase than their nearly regular shape in the ambient pressure phase.
We present a detailed analysis of the pressure dependence of the structures as

A model of ballistic aggregation and fragmentation
A simple model of ballistic aggregation and fragmentation is proposed. The
model is characterized by two energy thresholds, Eagg and Efrag, which
demarcate different types of impacts: If the kinetic energy of the relative
motion of a colliding pair is smaller than Eagg or larger than Efrag, particles
respectively merge or break; otherwise they rebound. We assume that particles
are formed from monomers which cannot split any further and that in a
collision-induced fragmentation the larger particle splits into two fragments.
We start from the Boltzmann equation for the mass-velocity distribution
function and derive Smoluchowski-like equations for concentrations of particles
of different mass. We analyze these equations analytically, solve them
numerically and perform Monte Carlo simulations. When aggregation and
fragmentation energy thresholds do not depend on the masses of the colliding
particles, the model becomes analytically tractable. In this case we show the
emergence of the two types of behavior: the regime of unlimited cluster growth
arises when fragmentation is (relatively) weak and the relaxation towards a
steady state occurs when fragmentation prevails. In a model with mass-dependent
Eagg and Efrag the evolution with a cross-over from one of the regimes to
another has been detected

Modified Wandzura-Wilczek Relation with the Nachtmann Variable
If one retains M^2/Q^2 terms in the kinematics, the Nachtmann variable \xi
seems to be more appropriate to describe deep inelastic lepton-nucleon
scattering. Up to the first power of M^2/Q^2, a modified Wandzura-Wilczek
relation with respect to \xi was derived. Kinematical correction factors are
given as functions of \xi and Q^2. A comparison of the modified g_2^WW(\xi) and

We study the consequences of the existence of spacelike Ricci inheritance
vectors (SpRIVs) parallel to for model of string cloud and string fluid
stress tensor in the context of general relativity. Necessary and sufficient
conditions are derived for a spacetime with a model of string cloud and string
fluid stress tensor to admit a SpRIV and a SpRIV which is also a spacelike

We demonstrate that parastatistics can be quantized using path integrals by
calculating the generating functionals for time-ordered products of both free
and interacting parabose and parafermi fields in terms of path integrals. We
