Assessment And Intervention Using The Perspective Of Four Organizational Frames
Effective leaders must possess a sophisticated understanding of their multifaceted organizations. This includes an understanding of the organization from several perspectives. The purpose of this paper is to explore the use of reframing, the perspective that organizations can be viewed from more than one angle (Bolman & Deal, 2003). Included in this paper are descriptions of the four perspectives along with short case studies intended to illustrate the four frames from the standpoint of assessment and intervention. This paper is intended as a resource to persons responsible for leadership at the middle level ranks in their respective organizations. Prior to reading this paper the authors suggest you complete and score the survey (see Appendix A for survey)
Deterring Threats to Election Workers: Recommendations for the DOJ task force
False claims of a stolen election in 2020 shook U.S. democracy to its foundation, seeding ideas and establishing behavior that will reverberate in elections for years to come. The unprecedented number of false claims alleging election fraud in 2020 ignited a barrage of threats against election workers in what had traditionally been a very low threat environment. The right to vote cannot be protected unless election officials are permitted to do their jobs free from improper partisan influence, harassment, and abuse. If perpetrators of threats face no consequences for their actions, many of the workers who safeguarded the most secure U.S. election ever, according to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), may choose not to work in future elections, risking election integrity. To help protect election workers from threats—and the foreseeable consequences of such threats on the integrity of future U.S. elections—the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) established an Election Threats Task Force last year that included members from the Criminal Division, the Civil Rights Division, the National Security Division, and the FBI. The Task Force has been notified of hundreds of threats, but progress on investigations and prosecutions has been too slow.Threats against election officials and the January 6th insurrection embody dire threats to our democracy, and both deserve the full attention of the DOJ
Challenges and Opportunities of Health Care Supply Chain Management in the United States
This article explores current supply chain management challenges and initiatives and identifies problems that affect supply chain management success in the U.S. health-care industry. In addition, it investigates the impact of health care supply chain management (SCM) initiatives on the overall organizational effectiveness. The attitudinal results, as well as the performance results presented in this study support the claim of health care proponents that the SCM allows organizations to reduce cost, improve quality, and reduce cycle time, and leads to high performance

Preliminary Results of American Eel Sampling Efforts in Gulf of Mexico Drainages of Texas
American Eel Anguilla rostrata has a unique and complex life history that is fairly well-studied on the eastern coast of the United States, but few studies have been done on Gulf of Mexico drainages. To inform conservation and management decisions, efforts to better understand the population structure, seasonal dynamics, and life history of American Eel are underway. The primary objectives of our efforts are to assess the current and historical distribution and abundance, habitat use, movement patterns, parasite occurrence, diet and population structure of American Eel across all life stages in Gulf of Mexico drainages of Texas.Texas State Wildlife Grant Program grants T-173-R-1 and T-172-R-1 in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration ProgramIntegrative Biolog
UC-75 MineTicket Discord Ticket Management Bot
We made use of the discord.py python library to manage the framework of the bot, since discord relies on a RESTful API for all of its bots. This layer of abstraction allowed us to focus on the important things, such as sanitizing inputs for SQL queries and building out a large, fully customizable feature set so future adjustments are made simple and easy as changing entries within a configuration file. Our goal was to make the bot as easy to update as possible, with the hope that, should requirements change in the future, the sponsor can quickly modify existing code to adapt it to new situations and unforeseen requirements
Factors Affecting the Development of ICT Competencies of Teachers in Primary Schools
A research was conducted in order to ensure valid and reliable assessment of the extent of ICT knowledge and skills of teachers in primary schools, to identify the factors in terms of teachers affecting the development of ICT competences, and to identify strategies to improve the development of effectiveness in the future. The research surveyed 220 teachers from 10 primary schools of Macedonia. The Technique SEM was used to determine the relative strength of influence of factors on ICT competencies of teachers. The results show that 25% of the teachers have below basic ICT Competency, 17% of teachers have basic knowledge and skills to operate a computer, and the highest percentage, 58% of teachers with proficient ICT competence
Expression and localization of NRF2/Keap1 signalling pathway genes in mouse preimplantation embryos exposed to free fatty acids.
Obese women experience greater incidence of infertility, with reproductive tracts exposing preimplantation embryos to elevated free fatty acids (FFA) such as palmitic acid (PA) and oleic acid (OA). PA treatment impairs mouse preimplantation development in vitro, while OA co-treatment rescues blastocyst development of PA treated embryos. In the present study, we investigated the effects of PA and OA treatment on NRF2/Keap1 localization, and relative antioxidant enzyme (Glutathione peroxidase; Gpx1, Catalase; Cat, Superoxide dismutase; Sod1 and γ-Glutamylcysteine ligase catalytic unit; Gclc) mRNA levels, during in vitro mouse preimplantation embryo development. Female mice were superovulated, mated, and embryos cultured in the presence of bovine Serum albumin (BSA) control or PA, or OA, alone (each at 100 μM) or PA + OA combined (each at 100 μM) treatment. NRF2 displayed nuclear localization at all developmental stages, whereas Keap1 primarily displayed cytoplasmic localization throughout control mouse preimplantation development in vitro. Relative transcript levels of Nrf2, Keap1, and downstream antioxidants significantly increased throughout control mouse preimplantation development in vitro. PA treatment significantly decreased blastocyst development and the levels of nuclear NRF2, while OA and PA + OA treatments did not. PA and OA treatments did not impact relative mRNA levels of Nrf2, Keap1, Gpx1, Cat, Sod1 or Gclc. Our outcomes demonstrate that cultured mouse embryos display nuclear NRF2, but that PA treatment reduces nuclear NRF2 and thus likely impacts NRF2/KEAP1 stress response mechanisms. Further studies should investigate whether free fatty acid effects on NRF2/KEAP1 contribute to the reduced fertility displayed by obese patients
Impact of caregiver substance misuse on emerging adults’ adjustment
Children raised by parents who abused substances have been shown to experience many adverse events, such as abuse, neglect, or parental separation (Stein, et al., 2002). With the rise in drug use among all ages, it is expected for the number of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) for children to consequently increase, but how does this affect them as young adults? We examined the association between individual ACEs, distress, and resilience among college students exposed to parental substance misuse. We expected each ACEs item to be positively correlated with distress, and for resilience to be negatively correlated with distress. Methods: Our sample consisted of 196 college students raised by a caregiver who misused substances. Individual adverse experiences were measured via the ACEs scale. The Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS-21) was used to measure distress. Connors-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC 25) measured resilience. Pearson’s correlation coefficients were calculated. Results and Discussion: 30.6% of the sample exhibited elevated distress and 78.6% experienced 2+ ACEs. As expected, individual ACEs items were significantly correlated with DASS-21 total score, with the exception of parental incarceration. In addition, the CD-RISC and DASS-21 were negatively correlated. The results illustrate a wide variety of adverse experiences in individuals exposed to parental substance misuse. Implications of results will be discussed.Psycholog
Brucellosis remains a neglected disease inthe developing world: a call forinterdisciplinary action
Brucellosis places significant burdens on the human healthcare system and limits the economic growth of individuals, communities, and nations where such development is especially important to diminish the prevalence of poverty. The implementation of public policy focused on mitigating the socioeconomic effects of brucellosis in human and animal populations is desperately needed. When developing a plan to mitigate the associated consequences, it is vital to consider both the abstract and quantifiable effects. This requires an interdisciplinary and collaborative, or One Health, approach that consists of public education, the development of an infrastructure for disease surveillance and reporting in both veterinary and medical fields, and campaigns for control in livestock and wildlife species
