    A Comprehensive Approach to Image Protection in Digital Environments

    Protecting the integrity of images has become a growing concern due to the ease of manipulation and unauthorized dissemination of visual content. This article presents a comprehensive approach to safeguarding images’ authenticity and reliability through watermarking techniques. The main goal is to develop effective strategies that preserve the visual quality of images and are resistant to various attacks. The work focuses on developing a watermarking algorithm in Python, implemented with embedding in the spatial domain, transformation in the frequency domain, and pixel modification techniques. A thorough evaluation of efficiency, accuracy, and robustness is performed using numerical metrics and visual assessment to validate the embedded watermarks. The results demonstrate the algorithm’s effectiveness in protecting the integrity of the images, although some attacks may cause visible degradation. Likewise, a comparison with related works is made to highlight the relevance and effectiveness of the proposed techniques. It is concluded that watermarks are presented as an additional layer of protection in applications where the authenticity and integrity of the image are essential. In addition, the importance of future research that addresses perspectives for improvement and new applications to strengthen the protection of the goodness of pictures and other digital media is highlighted

    Advances in the Optimization of Vehicular Traffic in Smart Cities: Integration of Blockchain and Computer Vision for Sustainable Mobility

    The growing adoption of Artificial Intelligence of Things technologies in smart cities generates significant transformations to address urban challenges and move towards sustainability. This article analyzes the economic, social, and environmental impacts of Artificial Intelligence of Things in urban environments, focusing on a case study on optimizing vehicular traffic. The research methodology is based on a comprehensive analysis of academic literature and government sources, followed by the creation of a simulated city model. This framework implemented a vehicle-traffic optimization system integrating artificial intelligence algorithms, computer vision, and blockchain technology. The results obtained in this case study are highly encouraging: artificial intelligence algorithms processed real-time data from security cameras and traffic lights, resulting in a notable 20% reduction in traffic congestion during peak hours. Furthermore, implementing blockchain technology guarantees the security and immutability of traffic data, strengthening trust in the system and promoting sustainability in urban environments. These results highlight the importance of combining advanced technologies to effectively address modern cities’ complex challenges and move towards more sustainable and livable cities

    Optimizing Chatbot Effectiveness through Advanced Syntactic Analysis: A Comprehensive Study in Natural Language Processing

    In the era of digitalization, the interaction between humans and machines, particularly in Natural Language Processing, has gained crucial importance. This study focuses on improving the effectiveness and accuracy of chatbots based on Natural Language Processing. Challenges such as the variability of human language and high user expectations are addressed, analyzing critical aspects such as grammatical structure, keywords, and contextual factors, with a particular emphasis on syntactic structure. An optimized chatbot model that considers explicit content and the user’s underlying context and intentions is proposed using machine learning techniques. This approach reveals that specific features, such as syntactic structure and keywords, are critical to the accuracy of chatbots. The results show that the proposed model adapts to different linguistic contexts and offers coherent and relevant answers in real-world situations. Furthermore, user satisfaction with this advanced model exceeds traditional models, aligning with expectations of more natural and humanized interactions. This study demonstrates the feasibility of improving chatbot–user interaction through advanced syntactic analysis. It highlights the need for continued research and development in this field to achieve significant advances in human–computer interaction

    The intersection between technology and education has taken on unprecedented relevance, driven by the promise of transforming teaching and learning through advanced digital tools. This study proposes a comprehensive exploration of how cloud computing and artificial intelligence converge to impact education, focusing on accessibility, efficiency, and quality of learning. A mixed-research design identified a 25% improvement in the personalization of educational content thanks to AI and a 60% increase in simultaneous user capacity through cloud computing. Additionally, a significant reduction in administrative errors and improvements in scalability were observed without sacrificing quality. The results demonstrate that these technologies not only improve efficiency and accessibility in education but also enrich the learning experience. By comparing these findings with previous research, this study highlights the synergistic value of these technologies and positions itself as a critical resource to guide future developments and improvements in the education sector in a digitally advanced world

    Towards the Integration of Emerging Technologies as Support for the Teaching and Learning Model in Higher Education

    The pandemic caused by COVID-19 impacted the entire world, but the significant challenges to be faced during this crisis opened an opportunity for organizations to evolve toward a digital transformation. Educational institutions were a concrete example of the use of technologies, which were abruptly incorporated into the teaching–learning model. Although this initiative was initially a challenge for teachers and students, it has now become a tool for new innovative teaching models, such as hybrid, online, and flexible models. The impact of technology used in education has been beneficial due to emerging technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, games, web applications, mobile applications, etc.), which have served as tools to facilitate and motivate studying. These educational trends contribute directly to the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). This research analyzes whether the use of a web application, as a support in the educational model, can make students better understand the subjects of network infrastructure and be more efficient when configuring equipment in a data network. Therefore, this research is based on the design of an educational web application based on Python libraries, which allows the configuration of networking equipment based on the concept of network automation with the application of a graphical user interface (GUI). The web application can be deployed with communication equipment or in conjunction with the GNS3 simulator. This versatility allows this web tool to be applied to the teaching of network equipment configuration in any mode of study (classroom, online, hybrid, or flexible). The results obtained in this research are encouraging and open the way for the implementation of network automation and Python libraries for educational applications that can be important tools within the teaching and learning models of higher education.This work was financed by the Universidad de Las Américas through project code: TIC.LCC.22.01

    Estudio de canteras históricas de Ferriol. Valoración de su utilización como piedra de sustitución en Stª Maria de Elche

    La piedra predominante en la fábrica de la Basílica de Santa María de Elche es la biocalcarenita, empleándose diferentes variedades en cada una de las fases constructivas. La más alterada y objeto de este artículo, es la que conforma la Capilla de la Comunión, obra del siglo XVIII de gran valor arquitectónico y que en un futuro cercano debería ser objeto de restauración. Las indagaciones históricas han sacado a la luz un documento de 1759 firmado por uno de los arquitectos autores de la Basílica de Santa María en Elche, donde se indica el número y formato de los sillares, y de donde se debían extraer dichos materiales. En el término de Elche, hay un paraje denominado Ferriol cuyas rocas han sido explotadas como piedra de construcción durante varios siglos y diferentes culturas, estando datada al menos una de las canteras allí desarrolladas en época íbera. Se han tomado muestras en tres antiguos frentes de cantera, situándolos litoestratigráficamente y se han comparado con los del propio edificio. Para ello se ha realizado un estudio mineralógico, petrográfico y petrofísico. Uno de los frentes muestreados corresponde a la cantera íbera mencionada, de donde podría haber sido extraída la piedra empleada en la escultura de “La Dama de Elche”. La biocalcarenita obtenida en la cantera del Ferriol es semejante a la de la Capilla de la Comunión, con una densidad aparente del orden de 1,8 g/cm3, la porosidad sobre el 20%, el coeficiente de capilaridad es 74 g/m2 s0.5 y la resistencia a compresión de 17,6 MPa

    Necrolytic migratory erythema associated with glucagonoma syndrome: a case report Eritema necrolítico migratório associado à síndrome glucagonoma: descrição de um caso

    Necrolytic migratory erythema is a rare skin condition that consists of migrating areas of erythema with blisters that heal with hyperpigmentation. It usually occurs in patients with an alpha islet cell tumor of the pancreas-or glucagonoma-and when associated with glucose intolerance, anemia, hyperglucagonemia, and weight loss defines the glucagonoma syndrome. We describe a 52-year-old female patient with necrolytic migratory erythema associated with glucagonoma syndrome who had metastatic disease at presentation and passed away one week after her admission. The autopsy showed a tumor in the body of the pancreas, which was diagnosed as a neuroendocrine tumor and confirmed by immunohistochemistry. The diagnosis of necrolytic migratory erythema is a matter of great importance, since it might be an auxiliary tool for the early detection of glucagonoma.<br>O eritema necrolítico migratório é uma rara condição cutânea que se apresenta como lesões eritematosas, migratórias, com vesículas e bolhas na superfície, evoluindo para cura com hiperpigmentação. É freqüentemente observado em doentes com tumor de células alfa do pâncreas, ou glucagonoma, e quando associado com intolerância a glicose, anemia, hiperglucagonemia, e perda de peso definem a síndrome do glucagonoma. É descrito o caso de uma paciente do sexo feminino, 52 anos, branca, com eritema necrolítico migratório associado à síndrome do glucagonoma com doença metastática na apresentação, vindo a falecer uma semana após sua admissão. A autópsia mostrou um tumor no corpo do pâncreas diagnosticado como tumor neuroendócrino e confirmado pela imuno-histoquímica. O reconhecimento do eritema necrolítico migratório é de grande importância para a possibilidade de diagnóstico precoce do glucagonoma
