Flexible Method for Inter-object Communication in C++

    Get PDF
A method has been developed for organizing and sharing large amounts of information between objects in C++ code. This method uses a set of object classes to define variables and group them into tables. The variable tables presented here provide a convenient way of defining and cataloging data, as well as a user-friendly input/output system, a standardized set of access functions, mechanisms for ensuring data integrity, methods for interprocessor data transfer, and an interpretive language for programming relationships between parameters. The object-oriented nature of these variable tables enables the use of multiple data types, each with unique attributes and behavior. Because each variable provides its own access methods, redundant table lookup functions can be bypassed, thus decreasing access times while maintaining data integrity. In addition, a method for automatic reference counting was developed to manage memory safely

The relationship between isometric mid-thigh pull force-time characteristics and swing performance in high-level youth golfers

The production of vertical ground reaction force has been suggested to relate directly to club head speed (CHS) in golfers, providing a rationale for the implementation of strength and conditioning to enhance performance. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between isometric mid-thigh pull (IMTP) force-time characteristics and measures of swing performance (CHS and Carry) in high-level youth golfers. Thirteen high-level youth golfers selected for their National Squad performed IMTP and swing testing using a TrackMan launch monitor across two testing sessions. Results revealed significant correlations between IMTP Peak Force (PF) and 6-iron Carry (r=0.91, p<0.001), Driver Carry (r=0.91, p<0.001), 6-iron CHS (r=0.89, p<0.001) and Driver CHS (r=0.88, p<0.001). All other variables showed trivial to large non-significant correlations. Findings support the use of the IMTP as a testing tool in high-level youth golfers and emphasise the importance of strength training within this population

Innovating Algorithmic Warfare: Experimentation with Information Manoeuvre beyond the Boundaries of the Law

This article analyses how algorithmic innovation in contemporary warfare unfolds through new alliances and contestations among civil and military actors in the face of an overarching rhetoric around the need to lead in “information manoeuvre”. Drawing on assemblage thinking and applying it to the case of the Land Information Manoeuvre Centre (LIMC)—a data centre founded by the Dutch Army that unlawfully tracked and algorithmically predicted its citizen’s sentiment and behaviour during the COVID-19 pandemic— the authors identify three logics that held this centre together and helped ward off critique: entrepreneurialism, informality, and experimentation. Emulating innovation practices elsewhere, together, these logics have important political repercussions beyond the Dutch case, pushing the expansion of military surveillance, pattern-finding and targeting, while undermining the rule of law and democratic accountability within algorithmic warfare
