Pressure effects on superconducting properties of single-crystalline Co doped NaFeAs
Resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements under external pressure
were performed on single-crystals NaFe1-xCoxAs (x=0, 0.01, 0.028, 0.075,
0.109). The maximum Tc enhanced by pressure in both underdoped and optimally
doped NaFe1-xCoxAs is the same, as high as 31 K. The overdoped sample with x =
0.075 also shows a positive pressure effect on Tc, and an enhancement of Tc by
13 K is achieved under pressure of 2.3 GPa. All the superconducting samples
show large positive pressure coefficient on superconductivity, being different
from Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2. However, the superconductivity cannot be induced by
pressure in heavily overdoped non-superconducting NaFe0.891Co0.109As. These
results provide evidence for that the electronic structure is much different
between superconducting and heavily overdoped non-superconducting NaFe1-xCoxAs,
being consistent with the observation by angle-resolved photoemission

Evaluation of hydrogeologic properties of the Barbados accretionary prism: a synthesis of Leg 156 results
In situ and laboratory studies of permeability, conducted by Ocean Drilling Program scientists from Leg 156, provide constraints
on parameters controlling the hydrogeologic system in the Barbados accretionary prism. Results from these studies
indicate that core-scale and formation-scale permeability values differ by at least several orders of magnitude and are dependent
on pore-fluid pressure and effective stress conditions. Direct measurement from packer experiments and indirect evidence
from consolidation tests suggest that pore-fluid pressures are commonly above hydrostatic values and approach lithostatic values
within the décollement zone. Permeability and fluid pressure conditions in the Barbados accretionary prism reflect the complexity
of the hydrogeologic system of such an active tectonic environment
Structural study on hole-doped superconductors Pr1-xSrxFeAsO
The structural details in Pr1-xSrxFeAsO (1111) superconducting system are
analyzed using data obtained from synchrotron X-ray diffraction and the
structural parameters are carefully studied as the system is moving from
non-superconducting to hole-doped superconducting with the Sr concentration.
Superconductivity emerges when the Sr doping amount reaches 0.221. The linear
increase of the lattice constants proves that Sr is successfully introduced
into the system and its concentration can accurately be determined by the
electron density analyses. The evolution of structural parameters with Sr
concentration in Pr1-xSrxFeAsO and their comparison to other similar structural
parameters of the related Fe-based superconductors suggest that the interlayer
space between the conducting As-Fe-As layer and the insulating Pr-O-Pr layer is
important for improving Tc in the hole-doped (1111) superconductors, which
seems to be different from electron-doped systems.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figures, 1 tabl
Striped antiferromagnetic order and electronic properties of stoichiometric LiFeAs from first-principles calculations
We investigate the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of
stoichiometric LiFeAs by using state-of-the-arts first-principles method. We
find the magnetic ground-state by comparing the total energies among all the
possible magnetic orders. Our calculated internal positions of Li and As are in
good agreement with experiment. Our results show that stoichiometric LiFeAs has
almost the same striped antiferromagnetic spin order as other FeAs-based parent
compounds and tetragonal FeSe do, and the experimental fact that no magnetic
phase transition has been observed at finite temperature is attributed to the
tiny inter-layer spin coupling
Hmong Adults Self-Rated Oral Health: A Pilot Study
Since 1975, the Hmong refugee population in the U.S. has increased over 200%. However, little is known about their dental needs or self-rated oral health (SROH). The study aims were to: (1) describe the SROH, self-rated general health (SRGH), and use of dental/physician services; and (2) identify the factors associated with SROH among Hmong adults. A cross-sectional study design with locating sampling methodology was used. Oral health questionnaire was administered to assess SROH and SRGH, past dental and physician visits, and language preference. One hundred twenty adults aged 18–50+ were recruited and 118 had useable information. Of these, 49% rated their oral health as poor/fair and 30% rated their general health as poor/fair. Thirty-nine percent reported that they did not have a regular source of dental care, 46% rated their access to dental care as poor/fair, 43% visited a dentist and 66% visited a physician within the past 12 months. Bivariate analyses demonstrated that access to dental care, past dental visits, age and SRGH were significantly associated with SROH (P \u3c 0.05). Multivariate analyses demonstrated a strong association between access to dental care and good/excellent SROH. About half of Hmong adults rated their oral health and access to dental care as poor. Dental insurance, access to dental care, past preventive dental/physician visits and SRGH were associated with SROH
The Discovery of New Galaxy Members in the NGC 5044 and NGC 1052 Groups
We present the results of neutral hydrogen (HI) observations of the NGC 5044
and NGC 1052 groups, as part of a GEMS (Group Evolution Multiwavelength Study)
investigation into the formation and evolution of galaxies in nearby groups.
Two new group members have been discovered during a wide-field HI imaging
survey conducted using the ATNF Parkes telescope. These results, as well as
those from followup HI synthesis and optical imaging, are presented here.
J1320-1427, a new member of the NGC 5044 Group, has an HI mass of
M_HI=1.05e9Msun and M_HI/L_B=1.65 Msun/Lsun, with a radial velocity of
v=2750km/s. The optical galaxy is characterised by two regions of star
formation, surrounded by an extended, diffuse halo. J0249-0806, the new member
of the NGC 1052 Group, has M_HI=5.4e8Msun, M_HI/L_R=1.13 Msun/Lsun and
v=1450km/s. The optical image reveals a low surface brightness galaxy. We
interpret both of these galaxies as irregular type, with J0249-0806 possibly

Scaleup tests and supporting research for the development of duct injection technology
DOE's Duct Injection Test Facility at Ohio Power Company's Muskingum River Plant was modified to enable performance of a comprehensive test program concerning duct injection of sorbents for SO[sub 2] control. Injection of slaked lime slurries and injection of dry calcium hydroxide powder with humidification were carried out under a variety of process conditions. Slaked lime slurry injection as found to be superior in both operational reliability and S0[sub 2] removal capability compared with dry hydrated lime injection with humidification. Calcium utilization of 50% was achieved with 50% S0[sub 2] removal at the ESP outlet with recycle of unreacted sorbent collected in the precipitatorhoppers. Electrostatic precipitator collection performance was found to be highly variable with sorbent injection, especially with close approach to saturation temperatures and high inlet mass loadings. Small-scale tests with a fabric filter in parallel with the precipitator indicated 5 to 10% more S0[sub 2] removal could be obtained across the fabric filter than the ESP for all test conditions. Over 95% S0[sub 2] removal was achieved with the fabric filter using a two stage cooling process in which the filter was cooled below the operating temperature ofthe duct spray dryer
Finite volume scheme based on cell-vertex reconstructions for anisotropic diffusion problems with discontinuous coefficients
We propose a new second-order finite volume scheme for non-homogeneous and anisotropic diffusion problems based on cell to vertex reconstructions involving minimization of functionals to provide the coefficients of the cell to vertex mapping.
The method handles complex situations such as large preconditioning number diffusion matrices and very distorted meshes.
Numerical examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the method
Interplay of Superconductivity and Fermi-Liquid Transport in Rh-Doped CaFe2As2 with Lattice-Collapse Transition
Ca(FeRh)As undergoes successive phase transitions with
increasing Rh doping in the 0 limit. The antiferromagnetic-metal phase
with orthorhombic structure at 0.00 0.020 is driven to a
superconducting phase with uncollapsed-tetragonal (ucT) structure at 0.020
0.024; a non-superconducting collapsed-tetragonal (cT) phase
takes over at 0.024. The breakdown of Fermi-liquid transport is
observed in the ucT phase above . In the adjacent cT phase,
Fermi-liquid transport is restored along with a disappearance of
superconductivity. This interplay of superconductivity and Fermi-liquid
transport suggests the essential role of magnetic fluctuations in the emergence
of superconductivity in doped CaFeAs.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure
