Two and three electrons in a quantum dot: 1/|J| - expansion
We consider systems of two and three electrons in a two-dimensional parabolic
quantum dot. A magnetic field is applied perpendicularly to the electron plane
of motion. We show that the energy levels corresponding to states with high
angular momentum, J, and a low number of vibrational quanta may be
systematically computed as power series in 1/|J|. These states are relevant in

Copper(I)-Phosphinite Complexes in Click Cycloadditions: Three-Component Reactions and Preparation of 5-Iodotriazoles

KGaA.The remarkable activity displayed by copper(I)–phosphinite complexes of general formula [CuBr(L)] in two challenging cycloadditions is reported: a) the one-pot azidonation/cycloaddition of boronic acids, NaN3, and terminal alkynes; b) the cycloaddition of azides and iodoalkynes. These air-stable catalysts led to very good results in both cases and the expected triazoles could be isolated in pure form under ‘Click-suitable’ conditions
Calorons on the lattice - a new perspective
We discuss the manifestation of instanton and monopole solutions on a
periodic lattice at finite temperature and their relation to the infinite
volume analytic caloron solutions with asymptotic non-trivial Polyakov loops.
As a tool we use improved cooling and twisted boundary conditions. Typically we
find 2Q lumps for topological charge Q. These lumps are BPS monopoles.Comment: Latex. 16 pages, 9 figure
Optical photometry of the UCM Lists I and II
We present Johnson B CCD photometry for the whole sample of galaxies of the
Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) Survey Lists I and II. They constitute
a well-defined and complete sample of galaxies in the Local Universe with
active star formation. The data refer to 191 S0 to Irr galaxies at an averaged
redshift of 0.027, and complement the already published Gunn r, J and K
photometries. In this paper the observational and reduction features are
discussed in detail, and the new colour information is combined to search for
clues on the properties of the galaxies, mainly by comparing our sample with

Internal transitions of negatively charged magnetoexcitons in quantum dots
We report calculations of oscillator strengths for the far infrared
absorption of light by the excitonic complexes Xn- (the excess charge, n,
ranging from one to four) confined in quantum dots. The magnetic field is
varied in an interval which corresponds to ``filling factors'' between 2 and
3/5. Electron-hole interaction effects are seen in the deviations of the peak
positions from the Kohn lines, and in the spreading of the oscillator strengths
over a few final states. Transition densities are used as an additional tool to

Improved superposition schemes for approximate multi-caloron configurations
Two improved superposition schemes for the construction of approximate
multi-caloron-anticaloron configurations, using exact single (anti)caloron
gauge fields as underlying building blocks, are introduced in this paper. The
first improvement deals with possible monopole-Dirac string interactions
between different calorons with non-trivial holonomy. The second one, based on
the ADHM formalism, improves the (anti-)selfduality in the case of small
caloron separations. It conforms with Shuryak's well-known ratio-ansatz when
applied to instantons. Both superposition techniques provide a higher degree of
(anti-)selfduality than the widely used sum-ansatz, which simply adds the
(anti)caloron vector potentials in an appropriate gauge. Furthermore, the
improved configurations (when discretized onto a lattice) are characterized by
a higher stability when they are exposed to lattice cooling techniques.Comment: New version accepted for publication in Nucl. Phys. B. Text partly
