Pure and entangled N=4 linear supermultiplets and their one-dimensional sigma-models

"Pure" homogeneous linear supermultiplets (minimal and non-minimal) of the N=4-Extended one-dimensional Supersymmetry Algebra are classified. "Pure" means that they admit at least one graphical presentation (the corresponding graph/graphs are known as "Adinkras"). We further prove the existence of "entangled" linear supermultiplets which do not admit a graphical presentation, by constructing an explicit example of an entangled N=4 supermultiplet with field content (3,8,5). It interpolates between two inequivalent pure N=4 supermultiplets with the same field content. The one-dimensional N=4 sigma-model with a three-dimensional target based on the entangled supermultiplet is presented. The distinction between the notion of equivalence for pure supermultiplets and the notion of equivalence for their associated graphs (Adinkras) is discussed. A Narrative Summary of High Flow Nasal Cannula Therapy in the Adult Population

Purpose: The aim of this narrative review is to outline the mechanism of action of HFNC therapy, the clinical benefits of its use, cautions of its clinical application and limitations of previous research. Methods: A literature review was conducted using the following databases as sources: Medline, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Only publications written in English were used in this clinical review. Keywords used in the search included the following: high-flow nasal cannula, heated humidified oxygen, oxygen therapy, non-invasive ventilation, and respiratory failure. Results: The literature reveals HFNC therapy significantly decreased the use of mechanical ventilation (invasive or non-invasive) in patients experiencing respiratory failure. HFNC therapy was better tolerated by patients and decreased the patient’s work of breathing when compared to a conventional oxygen therapy (i.e., non-rebreather oxygen mask). Other clinical benefits of using HFNC when changing a patient from conventional facemask oxygen therapy to a HFNC device are significant improvements in PaO2, respiratory rate and overall comfort. Conclusions: High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy serves as an alternative to conventional oxygen therapy to deliver elevated concentrations of oxygen to patients experiencing acute respiratory failure. Information detailed in this article suggests HFNC therapy is an effective therapy for improving a patient’s oxygenation status when experiencing acute respiratory failure in adults. The literature reveals, it is reasonable to initiate HFNC in adults with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure without hypercapnia, as an alternative to standard oxygen therapy or noninvasive positive pressure ventilation

Effects of Information Presentation on Perceived Reputation in Virtual Communities: A Controlled Experiment

Reputation systems have become increasingly popular in virtual communities as a way to record and communicate the reputation information of the members. However, different reputation systems use different presentation formats and their effects on decisions in terms of evaluating positive and negative ratings remain unclear. A controlled experiment is proposed using the preference ladder procedure to elicit subjective preferences in three commonly used presentation formats. One format presents the negative and positive ratings side by side; one presents the information as a percentage of total ratings that are positive; the third presents the difference between the positive and negative ratings, the format used by eBay. Results of the preliminary data analysis suggest that people weigh the positive and negative information to different extents in the three formats. Presenting reputation in the difference format tends to make a person weigh the negative information less, making the person more forgivable. The finding is possibly due to the salience of the negative ratings in the various presentations

Anemia como factor de riesgo para convulsiones febriles en un hospital público

Evaluar si la anemia es un factor de riesgo para convulsiones febriles en un Hospital Público. Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional, analítico, retrospectivo, longitudinal de casos y controles. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por aquellos pacientes menores de 6 años de edad con fiebre atendidos en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo entre los años 2013 y 2019, entre 39 casos y 78 controles, obteniéndose los datos de historias clínicas que cumplieron con los criterios de selección pertinentes. Resultados: Se encontró que la anemia no es factor de riesgo para convulsión febril (p: 0,261; OR: 1,59 IC:95% [0,71 – 3,58]). Del total de pacientes con convulsión febril el 38.5% tuvo anemia y del total de pacientes sin convulsión febril el 28,2% tuvo anemia. Del total de pacientes con anemia el 56.8% fue leve y el 43,2% fue moderada. Entre las variables intervinientes, se encontró que el sexo masculino es factor asociado a convulsiones febriles (p: 0,031; OR: 2,37 IC:95% [1,07 – 5,22]), no se encontró asociación entre las otras variables intervinientes y convulsión febril. Modeling mutant phenotypes and oscillatory dynamics in the Saccharomyces cerevisiae cAMP-PKA pathway

Background The cyclic AMP-Protein Kinase A (cAMP-PKA) pathway is an evolutionarily conserved signal transduction mechanism that regulates cellular growth and differentiation in animals and fungi. We present a mathematical model that recapitulates the short-term and long-term dynamics of this pathway in the budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Our model is aimed at recapitulating the dynamics of cAMP signaling for wild-type cells as well as single (pde1Δ and pde2Δ) and double (pde1Δpde2Δ) phosphodiesterase mutants. Results Our model focuses on PKA-mediated negative feedback on the activity of phosphodiesterases and the Ras branch of the cAMP-PKA pathway. We show that both of these types of negative feedback are required to reproduce the wild-type signaling behavior that occurs on both short and long time scales, as well as the the observed responses of phosphodiesterase mutants. A novel feature of our model is that, for a wide range of parameters, it predicts that intracellular cAMP concentrations should exhibit decaying oscillatory dynamics in their approach to steady state following glucose stimulation. Experimental measurements of cAMP levels in two genetic backgrounds of S. cerevisiae confirmed the presence of decaying cAMP oscillations as predicted by the model. Conclusions Our model of the cAMP-PKA pathway provides new insights into how yeast respond to alterations in their nutrient environment. Because the model has both predictive and explanatory power it will serve as a foundation for future mathematical and experimental studies of this important signaling network

Importación de equipos de seguridad de detección de Estados Unidos y sus estándares de calidad en los aeropuertos peruanos administrados por ADP 2000-2014

En el Perú en los últimos años, consecutivamente el Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez de lima, es considerado en el prestigioso World Airport Award como el mejor aeropuerto de América el Sur y quinto lugar a nivel mundial, evento realizado en parís el pasado marzo. Dicho premio obtenido por el aeropuerto peruano a consecuencia de estándares que se vienen cumpliendo de manera eficiente, desde la atención a los pasajeros y personas en general,la limpieza de las instalaciones, el control de equipajes, infraestructura, la continuidad de salida de aviones, control policial, detección de drogas, etc. Es decir, los equipos de seguridad de detección por rayos “X”, cumplen una función muy importante al momento de escanear y detectar cualquier objeto sospechoso que ponga en riesgo la integridad de las personas y el lugar que los rodea, asi como también; la detección de drogas y objetos pertececientes al patrimonio cultural peruano. Los equipos de rayos “X” en los aeropuertos del Perú, es suma importancia para la detección de objetos en el interior de las maletas de los pasajeros que realizan el abordaje a un avión y la salida del aeropuerto. De manera que con tales procedimientos se evite principalmente: riesgos de atentado y trafico de drogas al exterior. Estos equipos trabajan con una fuente de radiación por lo cual deben ser supervisados sus niveles de radiación periódicamente con la finalidad de mantener los equipos con una intensidad de radiación baja. En el Perú existen instituciones que brindan la autorización para la comercialización y uso en territorio nacional de las maquinas con radiación, por ejemplo: el Intituto Peruano de Energía Nuclear (IPEN), autoriza las licencias para la importación, comercialización y mantenimiento de las maquinas con radiación y fuente ionizante. La Oficina Técnica de Autoridad Nacional (OTAN), otorga los permisos de operación y manipulación para los equipos con radiación a las personas que trabajan, brindan mantenimiento y operan estos equipos en el territorio peruano. Señalar también las certificaiones propias que cuentan los equipos y que son emitidas por las compañías fabricantes y las certificaiones ISO , son muy importantes para el uso en los aeropuertos. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de la presente investigación: es dar a conocer la relación de las importaciones de equipos de detección de Estados Unidos y los estándares que deben cumplir en los aeropuertos del peru administrados por (AdP) durante los años 2000 – 2014. De esta manera se describirá si el aumento o disminución del nivel de importaciones gurada relación con los estándares de calidad para los aeropuertos del peru administrados por AdP en el periodo de tiempo mencionado

En el actual sistema financiero de nuestro país es importante que cajas y bancos cuenten con una correcta y eficaz evaluación crediticia de sus clientes, para mantener el nivel de morosidad dentro de los parámetros establecidos y esperados de la institución, debido a que una alta tasa de morosidad impacta fuerte y directamente en las utilidades e ingresos financieros de la empresa, además del deterioro y sobreendeudamiento del mercado. El propósito de esta investigación es identificar cuáles son los aspectos y fallos en la evaluación crediticia que tienen mayor relevancia e incidencia en morosidad en la cartera de créditos de la Caja del Santa específicamente de la agencia Bolognesi, para ello se aplicará una metodología de investigación aplicada descriptiva de tipo trasversal, no experimental.
