Use of TimescaleDB as a database for ocean-meteorological data storage

    Get PDF
The monitoring of the environment is essential to know and study the diferent phenomena that occur in the natural environment. [1]. Atmospheric and oceanographic data sets share many characteristics. They can be very large; many cover limited periods of time and have a limited spatial extent; gaps (lack of data) and outliers are common; The spatial distribution of several observation networks is uneven; and, often, the time series of data are not homogeneous. The data sets contain variables that, in general, are not independent in time or space; therefore, most of the variables must be seen within a multivariate context [2]. A time series database [3] (TSDB) is a database optimized for timestamp data. These databases have the ability to provide queries with subsamples, gap flling or aggregations throughout the time series, must be stored efciently to be inserted and retrieved quickly. TimescaleDB [4] is implemented as an extension on PostgreSQL, and exposes what look like singular tables, called hypertables, that are actually an abstraction or a virtual view of many individual tables holding the data, called chunks (created by partitioning the hypertable’s data into one or multiple dimensions). We will proceed to perform a series of tests to test the performance of TimeScale and compare it with other databases of the same style. Small comparisons will be made both in writing and reading data. Special emphasis will be placed on reading large datasets.Peer Reviewe

SILENCIO: Introduction of electric propulsion to small inshore fishing boats to reduce their impact in the environment

    Get PDF
Human activities afects each environment, even the most remote, and the acoustic impact that these activities generate on the marine environment is not an exception. The Silencio project aims to developed innovative and sustainable solutions to reduce the impact of fsheries and shell-fsheries in ecosystems, mainly noise but also carbon footprint, by the assessment of the use of electric propulsion by small inshore fshing boat. Besides, the knowledge about the sources of underwater noise in areas under high fshing pressure will be improved by the characterization of the ambient noise in Rías Baixas. Further, the project will spread the idea of an environmentally sustainable, socially responsible and economically viable extractive sector.Peer Reviewe

SEOM-SOGUG clinical guideline for localized muscle invasive and advanced bladder cancer (2021).

    No full text
Most muscle-invasive bladder cancer (BC) are urothelial carcinomas (UC) of transitional origin, although histological variants of UC have been recognized. Smoking is the most important risk factor in developed countries, and the basis for prevention. UC harbors high number of genomic aberrations that make possible targeted therapies. Based on molecular features, a consensus classification identified six different MIBC subtypes. Hematuria and irritative bladder symptoms, CT scan, cystoscopy and transurethral resection are the basis for diagnosis. Radical cystectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy is the standard approach for muscle-invasive BC, although bladder preservation is an option for selected patients who wish to avoid or cannot tolerate surgery. Perioperative cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy is recommended for cT2-4aN0M0 tumors, or as adjuvant in patients with pT3/4 and or pN + after radical cystectomy. Follow-up is particularly important after the availability of new salvage therapies. It should be individualized and adapted to the risk of recurrence. Cisplatin-gemcitabine is considered the standard first line for metastatic tumors. Carboplatin should replace cisplatin in cisplatin-ineligible patients. According to the EMA label, pembrolizumab or atezolizumab could be an option in cisplatin-ineligible patients with high PD-L1 expression. For patients whose disease respond or did not progress after first-line platinum chemotherapy, maintenance with avelumab prolongs survival with respect to the best supportive care. Pembrolizumab also increases survival versus vinflunine or taxanes in patients with progression after chemotherapy who have not received avelumab, as well as enfortumab vedotin in those progressing to first-line chemotherapy followed by an antiPDL1/PD1. Erdafitinib may be considered in this setting in patients with FGFR alterations. An early onset of supportive and palliative care is always strongly recommended

This report examines the obstacles that victims of sexual violence in Spain may face when reporting and the eventual criminal proceedings at different stages

    No full text
