    Characterization of volcanic structures using ground penetrating radar and additional inverse modelling: Multidisciplinary geophysical investigation in the Timanfaya National Park (Spain)

    —A ground penetrating radar survey is presented over a recent lava flow at the volcanic area of Timanfaya National Park (Canary Island, Spain). The purpose was to locate lava tubes into the lava flow through the combination of field and simulated data. Different modelling strategies were used for the analysis and knowledge of the signal behaviour. Finite-difference time-domain algorithm was considered for simulations, and the pattern of reflections generated from previously known volcanic structures were characterized.     Optical imaging spectroscopy for rapid, primary screening of SARS-CoV-2: a proof of concept

    Effective testing is essential to control the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) transmission. Here we report a-proof-of-concept study on hyperspectral image analysis in the visible and near-infrared range for primary screening at the point-of-care of SARS-CoV-2. We apply spectral feature descriptors, partial least square-discriminant analysis, and artificial intelligence to extract information from optical diffuse reflectance measurements from 5 µL fluid samples at pixel, droplet, and patient levels. We discern preparations of engineered lentiviral particles pseudotyped with the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 from those with the G protein of the vesicular stomatitis virus in saline solution and artificial saliva. We report a quantitative analysis of 72 samples of nasopharyngeal exudate in a range of SARS-CoV-2 viral loads, and a descriptive study of another 32 fresh human saliva samples. Sensitivity for classification of exudates was 100% with peak specificity of 87.5% for discernment from PCR-negative but symptomatic cases.     Método Multi-Híbrido FEM-MoM-PO para el Análisis de Problemas de Dispersión y Radiación

    A general fully coupled multi-hybrid method in three dimensions (3D) combining the Finite Element Method (FEM), the Method of Moments (MoM), and a high frequency asymptotic technique, Physical Optics (PO), is presented. Complex radiating structures are analyzed with FEM (which easily handles complex geometries, permeable materials, anisotropy, and so on) while small and medium size perfect electric conductor (PEC) objects are rigorously analyzed using MoM; large PEC objects can be efficiently analyzed with PO. Furthermore, different regions of the same object can be modeled with MoM and PO. That provides the possibility, for instance, of taking into account the edge effects of PEC objects without the need of introducing artificial line currents at the edges, as the Physical Theory of Diffraction (PTD) does.     SeDeLo: Using semantics and description logics to support aided clinical diagnosis.

    Automated medical diagnosis systems based on knowledge-oriented descriptions have gained momentum with the emergence of semantic descriptions. The objective of this paper is to propose a normalized design that solves some of the problems which have been detected by authors in previous tools. The authors bring together two different technologies to develop a new clinical decision support system: description logics aimed at developing inference systems to improve decision support for the prevention, treatment and management of illness and semantic technologies. Because of its new design, the system is capable of obtaining improved diagnostics compared with previous efforts. However, this evaluation is more focused in the computational performance, giving as result that description logics is a good solution with small data sets.     Managing ICT for Sustainable Education: Research Analysis in the Context of Higher Education

    The use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for the benefit of the environment favors the development of a sustainable education, which will help to train more responsible and aware students. The management of educational technology in the context of a sustainable higher education must achieve the internalization of ethics and the sustainable development of humanity. The main objective of this study is to, at a global level, examine the research during the period 2000–2019 on the management of ICTs for sustainable education in the context of higher education. Global research trends on this topic during the period 2000–2019 have been analyzed. Consequently, bibliometric techniques have been applied to a sample of 1814 articles selected from the Scopus database. The results provided data on the scientific productivity of the journal, authors, research institutions, and countries that contribute to the development of this topic. The evidence reveals an exponential trend, mainly in the last five years. In addition, current and future lines of research have been identified. Research at an international level presents a growing trend of publication that allows determination of the relevance of research on ICT management to achieve sustainable education in the context of higher education. This study makes it possible to establish the relationship between science, sustainability, and technology in higher education institutions, and to base the decision-making process for the driving agents of this area of knowledge

    Management Accounting for Healthy Nutrition Education: Meta-Analysis

    Unequal economic growth shapes food systems. Nutrition problems incorporate inappropriate practices, so nutrition education is key to empowering consumers to choose healthy foods. However, increasing the accessibility of healthy diets is related to reducing the cost of nutritious foods. The accounting management of healthy nutrition should allow for optimal global decision-making. The evolution of scientific production and global research trends on this topic between 1968 and 2019 have been studied. Statistical and mathematical methods have been applied to 1738 documents from the Scopus database. The results provided data on the agents that participate in the development of the theme. Data reveal an exponential trend, especially in the previous decade, with more than 50% of scientific production. Future lines of research have been identified: investment in health systems; green label education; early impact of food insecurity; WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) nutrition education; food waste audit; and ecological footprint of food. The central contribution of the study has been to detect the main future directions of research, providing critical points that will allow us to identify the themes of future publications, in addition to providing an instrument for decision-making carried out by the research funding sponsors

    Community structure of caprellids (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Caprellidae) on seagrasses from southern Spain

    The community structure of caprellids inhabiting two species of seagrass (Cymodocea nodosa and Zostera marina) was investigated on the Andalusian coast, southern Spain, using uni and multivariate analyses. Three meadows were selected (Almería, AL; Málaga, MA; Cádiz, CA), and changes in seagrass cover and biomass were measured from 2004 to 2005. Four caprellid species were found; the density of Caprella acanthifera, Phtisica marina and Pseudoprotella phasma was correlated to seagrass biomass. No such correlation was found for Pariambus typicus, probably because this species inhabits sediments and does not cling to the seagrass leaves. We recorded a signiWcant decrease in seagrass cover and biomass in MA due to illegal bottom trawling Wsheries. Phtisica marina and P. typicus were favoured by this perturbation and increased their densities after the trawling activities. A survey of reports on caprellids in seagrass meadows around the world showed no clear latitudinal patterns in caprellid densities (ranging from 6 to 1,000 ind/m2 per meadow) and species diversity. While caprellid abundances in seagrass meadows are often very high, the number of species per meadow is low (range 1–5).Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia de España y fondos FEDER de la Unión Europea.
