Supersymmetric Non-Abelian Born-Infeld Theory

Using the natural curvature invariants as building blocks in a superfield construction, we show that the use of a symmetric trace is mandatory if one is to reproduce the square root structure of the non-Abelian Dirac-Born-Infeld Lagrangian in the bosonic sector. New Regular Black Hole Solution from Nonlinear Electrodynamics

Using a nonlinear electrodynamics coupled to General Relativity a new regular exact black hole solution is found. The nonlinear theory reduces to the Maxwell one in the weak limit, and the solution corresponds to a charged black hole for |q| \leq 2s_c m \approx 1.05 m, with metric, curvature invariants, and electric field regular everywhere.Comment: 5 pages, RevTe

Since 1931, and especially since the Nuremberg Code of 1947, an increasing number of declarations, regulations, norms, guidelines, laws, resolutions, and rules intended to create conditions for better protection of subjects participating in research studies have been published, although some have meant setbacks in the human rights of vulnerable populations. As such, violations of the dignity of experimental subjects in clinical trials continue. What researchers investigate and how the research is done, the quality and transparency of the data, and the analysis and the publication of results (of both raw and processed data) respond to the financial interests of the pharmaceutical companies, coming into permanent tension with bioethical principles and the needs of society. The active participation of civil society is necessary to make it so that pharmaceutical research, results and applications subordinate economic benefits to the protection of human rights.Desde el año 1931 y, especialmente, desde el Código de Núremberg de 1947, un creciente número de declaraciones, regulaciones, normas, guías, leyes, resoluciones y disposiciones pretenden generar condiciones para una mejor protección de los sujetos que participan en estudios de investigación, aunque también algunas implican retrocesos en el respeto a los derechos de poblaciones vulnerables. Sin embargo, todavía no se ha podido evitar la violación de la dignidad de los sujetos de experimentación en ensayos clínicos. Lo que se investiga, cómo se investiga, la calidad y transparencia de los datos obtenidos, el análisis y la publicación de los resultados (tanto de los datos crudos como de los ya elaborados) están sometidos a la lógica del lucro, la cual presenta una tensión permanente con los principios bioéticos y las necesidades de la sociedad. Es necesario el protagonismo activo de los pueblos para que la investigación farmacológica, sus resultados y aplicaciones avancen en un rumbo que subordine el beneficio económico a la protección de los derechos humanos

Bogomol'nyi Bounds and the Supersymmetric Born-Infeld Theory

We study N=2 supersymmetric Born-Infeld-Higgs theory in 3 dimensions and derive Bogomol'nyi relations in its bosonic sector. A peculiar coupling between the Higgs and the gauge field (with dynamics determined by the Born-Infeld action) is forced by supersymmetry. The resulting equations coincide with those arising in the Maxwell-Higgs model. Continuous evolution of techniques and technology require permanent professional update. This situation, extensive to all specialties, ensures not only the validity of knowledge but, above all, skills and competencies in a highly competitive labor world. At the same time, the different working conditions, time constraints and the distances between the places of residence of many professionals and the educational institutions, guide the search for new ways of acquiring knowledge. This article relates an experience on a distance professional updating course called "Design and Sizing of Structures in Armed Concrete", given at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design of the National University of Cordoba.La continua evolución de las técnicas y la tecnología requieren una actualización profesional permanente. Esta situación, extensiva a todas las especialidades, asegura no solo la vigencia de conocimientos sino sobre todo habilidades y competencias en un mundo laboral altamente competitivo. Paralelamente, las diversas condiciones laborales, dificultades horarias y las distancias de los lugares de residencia de muchos profesionales a las casas de estudio orientan la búsqueda de nuevas formas de adquisición del conocimiento. Se expone a continuación la experiencia en la realización de un curso de actualización profesional en la Facultad de Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Diseño de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, “Diseño y Dimensionado de Estructuras en Hormigón Armado”, con modalidad a distancia
