Archaeology in a changing society
On the face of it archaeology should be the least politically sensitive of academic activities. The discipline however is a product of the intellectual
movement in 19th century Europe and followed the flag of European imperalism into every quarter of the globe. Reaction against colonialism in the present century has meant restriction on the practice of the academic pursuits associated with it
The economics of neutrality: re-evaluating Swedish trade in the Second World War.
What defined the economic relations between Sweden and the three main belligerents: Germany, the United States and the United Kingdom during the Second World War?
Marnda Gardairri: Facilitation of an Indigenous Ranger Rock Art Workshop
The Marnda Gardairri Indigenous Rangers Workshop was held from 3–5 October 2017 on the Burrup Peninsula in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The event, which was hosted by the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation (MAC), brought together rangers from across Australia to discuss rock art conservation and management. The workshop was given the title ‘Marnda Gardairri’ as this means rock scratching/engraving on the Burrup Peninsula.
The workshop was developed by MAC in collaborative partnership with Rio Tinto Iron Ore-Pilbara Operations and the Nulungu Research Institute (The University of Notre Dame Australia). Rio Tinto and Woodside Petroleum funded the workshop, with Mel Marshall and Lynley Wallis of Nulungu engaged to coordinate and facilitate the event, assisted by Kate Golson.https://researchonline.nd.edu.au/nulungu_insights/1002/thumbnail.jp
Research Report by the Department of Prehistory, Research School of Pacific Studies, 1976
The major themes of departmental research into the prehistory of Australia, New Guinea and the nearer Pacific Islands have been established now for some years. They have been chosen because they are seen as decisive for the personality of the region in prehistory and look to take advantage of the unique opportunities it offers for archaeological research

Politics from a New Perspective
Government trust is at an all time low. Many have united against the government rather than for it. This lack of trust decreases efficiency and the ability to properly represent citizens. Through my internship I observed a solution that I have laid out and supported with evidence in my presentation
Spanish civilian labour for Germany during the Second World War?
For political reasons, the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco limited the
number of civilian Spanish workers sent to Germany during the Second
World War. Despite agreeing to send 100,000, the number of workers never
exceeded 9,550. Their impact on the German war economy was small. This
paper demonstrates that, in limiting worker transfers, Franco went against
his own economic incentives, considering that the Spanish government was
taking a commission from the workers’ remittances. By limiting the number
of workers sent, Franco satisfied the Allies’ pressure to minimise cooperation
with Germany. In support of this argument, this article offers updated estimates
for the number of workers, their skill levels and remittances. It also provides the
first estimates of Spanish costs and income from the programme.
The economics of neutrality: Spain, Sweden and Switzerland in the Second World War
Neutrality has long been seen as impartiality in war (Grotius, 1925), and is
codified as such in The Hague and Geneva Conventions. This dissertation
empirically investigates the activities of three neutral states in the Second World
War and determines, on a purely economic basis, these countries actually
employed realist principles to ensure their survival. Neutrals maintain their
independence by offering economic concessions to the belligerents to make up
for their relative military weakness. Depending on their position, neutral
countries can also extract concessions from the belligerents if their situation
permits it. Â
Despite their different starting places, governments and threats against
them, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland provided similar types of political and
economic concessions to the belligerents. This thesis comparatively investigates
neutral trade, labour and capital. Using standardized trade statistics, this study
shows that while all three neutrals were dependent on the Germans for most
basic goods, they were generally able to benefit from relative gains in prices and
excess imports of goods in periods of German weakness. In trade with the Allies,
at least two of the three countries permitted the illicit export of items necessary
for the Allied war effort, and did so at reduced relative prices. Â
All three neutrals benefitted from substantial services revenue and
positive balance of payments in all of their belligerent relationships. In several
cases the neutrals were able to force the belligerents to cover their balance of
payments deficits in gold because they needed to maintain access to the neutral
markets. The final chapters demonstrate that despite political promises, the
Spanish and Swiss governments constructed labour transfer systems to limit the
number of workers for Germany.

Minoritized Student Experiences with Psychoeducational Service Provision for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
Due to the impact of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder on students\u27 academic, social, and behavioral outcomes, it is important students receive supportive interventions. Federal regulation requires schools identify students with disabilities like ADHD and provide them with accommodations and supports as needed. Unfortunately, the research that supports these interventions does not adequately include students from racially/ethnically minoritized groups. Due to factors like discrimination and stereotyping, racially/ethnically minoritized students may experience ADHD and ADHD services differently. This study included 35 minoritized adolescent students who receive ADHD services. Through an online survey, students reported their symptom experiences, the academic and social effects of ADHD, community and personal perceptions of ADHD, and parent roles. Students also wrote about their role in school services, what services they receive at school, and their assessment experiences. These findings support the need for diversity in ADHD research, student involvement in treatment planning, and increased knowledge and collaboration
