    A diarylamine derived from anthranilic acid inhibits ZIKV replication

    Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito-transmitted Flavivirus, originally identified in Uganda in 1947 and recently associated with a large outbreak in South America. Despite extensive efforts there are currently no approved antiviral compounds for treatment of ZIKV infection. Here we describe the antiviral activity of diarylamines derived from anthranilic acid (FAMs) against ZIKV. A synthetic FAM (E3) demonstrated anti-ZIKV potential by reducing viral replication up to 86%. We analyzed the possible mechanisms of action of FAM E3 by evaluating the intercalation of this compound into the viral dsRNA and its interaction with the RNA polymerase of bacteriophage SP6. However, FAM E3 did not act by these mechanisms. In silico results predicted that FAM E3 might bind to the ZIKV NS3 helicase suggesting that this protein could be one possible target of this compound. To test this, the thermal stability and the ATPase activity of the ZIKV NS3 helicase domain (NS3Hel) were investigated in vitro and we demonstrated that FAM E3 could indeed bind to and stabilize NS3Hel

    The study shows that the Pearson’s coefficient of correlation is equivalent to the cosine of the angle between random variables. It was found that the information about the intensity of the relationship between variables is included in the value of the angle between random vectors.     New Interpretation of Principal Components Analysis

    A new look on the principal component analysis has been presented. Firstly,ageometric interpretation of determination coefficient was shown. In turn, the ability to represent the analyzed data and their interdependencies in the form of easy-tounderstand basic geometric structures was shown. As a result of the analysis of these structures it was proposed to enrich the classical PCA. In particular, it was proposed a new criterion for the selection of important principal components and a new algorithm for clustering primary variables by their level of similarity to the principal components. Virtual and real data spaces, as well as tensor operations on data, have also been identified.The anisotropy of the data was identified too

    Behavioral modeling of stressed MOSFET

    In this paper piezoconductivity phenomenon in MOSFET channel is discussed and extension of drain current model with possibility of stress consideration is proposed. Analysis of obtained model combined with examination of stress components inherent in the MOSFET channel as well as distributions of specific piezoconductance coefficients on a plane of channel can show which directions of transistor channel are desirable for improvement of MOSFET performances. This model gives possibility to predict optimal transistor channel orientation, for the given stress state in MOSFET channel. Possible simplification of this model is considered. In particular, stress state and significant piezoconductance coefficient distributions on planes f100g, f110g as well as f111g are analyzed. For assumed particular cases of stress state in the channel, final models of MOSFT for considered specific planes are given

    Numerical Coding of Nominal Data

    In this paper, a novel approach for coding nominal data is proposed. For the given nominal data, a rank in a form of complex number is assigned. The proposed method does not lose any information about the attribute and brings other properties previously unknown. The approach based on these knew properties can been used for classification. The analyzed example shows that classification with the use of coded nominal data or both numerical as well as coded nominal data is more effective than the classification, which uses only numerical data
