Graphical Analysis of Social Group Dynamics

Identifying communities in social networks becomes an increasingly important research problem. Several methods for identifying such groups have been developed, however, qualitative analysis (taking into account the scale of the problem) still poses serious problems. This paper describes a tool for facilitating such an analysis, allowing to visualize the dynamics and supporting localization of different events (such as creation or merging of groups). In the final part of the paper, the experimental results performed using the benchmark data (Enron emails) provide an insight into usefulness of the proposed tool.Comment: Fourth International Conference on Computational Aspects of Social Networks, CASoN 2012, Sao Carlos, Brazil, November 21-23, 2012, pp. 41-46; IEEE Computer Society, 201

Assessment of the language, communication and interaction competences and skills of a patient with aphasia following aneurysm clipping and diagnosed symptomatic epilepsy

The article describes a case of a patient with aphasia, diagnosed with symptomatic epilepsy seizures after aneurysm clipping. A speech therapy diagnosis was made, consisting of patient observation, analysis of clinical documentation and speech test results. The subject was diagnosed with disorders of linguistic competence and skills caused by the presence of acoustic-mnestic aphasia. Their consequences are dysfunctions in terms of communication and interaction skills and abilities

DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2019.27.12 The article is devoted to consideration of verbal fluency in MCI-PD. The VF test allows for the detection of dysfunctions within linguistic processes, semantic memory and dysfunctions of executive functions already in the early stages of Parkinson’sdisease. The article compares the results of verbal fluency tests in selected categories of proper names and common names, and assesses the effect of the MCIPD stage on the test result. The comparison of the test group results with various degrees of MCI indicates a progressive decrease in verbal fluency. The experiment showed different profiles of the verbal task in terms of common and proper names.Renata Gliwa, Verbal fluency in categories of common and proper names in the phase of mild cognitive impairment in the course of Parkinson’s disease. Verbal communication disorders in a patient with diagnosed progressive supranuclear palsy

Progressive supranuclear palsy [Steele-Richardson-Olszewski] is a neurodegenerative disease of the central nervous system. It develops mainly in men over 40 years of age. The course of PSP is rather characteristic: motor, cognitive and non-cognitive impairments develop at a fairly rapid rate. The aim of the study is to assess interactional, communicative and linguistic competencies and skills, executive abilities (breathing, phonation and articulation) as well as primary functions of a patient diagnosed with PSP. The article confirms the thesis that dementia disorders overlap with motor disorders in the course of PSP.Progressive supranuclear palsy [Steele-Richardson-Olszewski] is a neurodegenerative disease of the central nervous system. Hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy Classifier Based On Nefclass Model

    Get PDF
The paper presents hybrid neuro-fuzzy classifier, based on NEFCLASS model, which wasmodified. The presented classifier was compared to popular classifiers – neural networks andk-nearest neighbours. Efficiency of modifications in classifier was compared with methodsused in original model NEFCLASS (learning methods). Accuracy of classifier was testedusing 3 datasets from UCI Machine Learning Repository: iris, wine and breast cancer wisconsin. Moreover, influence of ensemble classification methods on classification accuracy waspresented

Cryptographically Strong Elliptic Curves of Prime Order

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to generate cryptographically strong elliptic curves over prime fields Fp, where p is a Mersenne prime, one of the special primes or a random prime. We search for elliptic curves which orders are also prime numbers. The cryptographically strong elliptic curves are those for which the discrete logarithm problem is computationally hard. The required mathematical conditions are formulated in terms of parameters characterizing the elliptic curves. We present an algorithm to generate such curves. Examples of elliptic curves of prime order are generated with Magma

Identification of Group Changes in Blogosphere

The paper addresses a problem of change identification in social group evolution. A new SGCI method for discovering of stable groups was proposed and compared with existing GED method. The experimental studies on a Polish blogosphere service revealed that both methods are able to identify similar evolution events even though both use different concepts. Some differences were demonstrated as wellComment: The 2012 IEEE/ACM International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining, IEEE Computer Society, 2012, pp. 1233-123

    Combining message encryption and authentication

    Get PDF
The first part of the paper explains the need for combining message encryption and authentication. We begin with the example to emphasize the fact that privacy‡ does not imply authenticity. Then we prove, one needs both privacy and authenticity, even if one's aim is just getting privacy. In the second part we present an overview of different methods for providing authenticated encryption (AE) i.e. generic compositions, single-pass modes and two-pass combined modes. We analyze what are the advantages and disadvantages of different AE constructions. In the third part of the paper we focus on nonce§ based authenticated encryption modes. Our motivation is the wish to know the methodology of designing authenticated encryption mode of operation. We take into consideration a few most important properties, e.g. parallelizability, memory requirements and pre-processing capability. We analyze possibilities of choice of underlying encryption and authentication components and their order in a message we also try to answer. What does single-key mode really mean? Finally we mention the importance of provable security theory in the security of authenticated encryption modes
