K-string tensions at finite temperature and integrable models
It has recently been pointed out that simple scaling properties of Polyakov
correlation functions of gauge systems in the confining phase suggest that the
ratios of k-string tensions in the low temperature region is constant up to
terms of order T^3. Here we argue that, at least in a three-dimensional Z_4
gauge model, the above ratios are constant in the whole confining phase. This
result is obtained by combining numerical experiments with known exact results
on the mass spectrum of an integrable two-dimensional spin model describing the
infrared behaviour of the gauge system near the deconfining transition.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures, 1 tabl
Gluino Air Showers as a Signal of Split Supersymmetry
It has been proposed recently that, within the framework of split
Supersymmetry, long lived gluinos generated in astrophysical sources could be
detected using the signatures of the air showers they produce, thus providing a
lower bound for their lifetime and for the scale of SUSY breaking. We present
the longitudinal profile and lateral spread of -hadron induced extensive air
showers and consider the possibility of measuring them with a detector with the

Natural fermion mass hierarchy and mixings in family unification
We present an SU(9) model of family unification with three light chiral
families, and a natural hierarchy of charged fermion masses and mixings. The
existence of singlet right handed neutrions with masses about two orders of
magnitude smaller than the GUT scale, as needed to understand the light
neutrinos masses via the see-saw mechanism, is compelling in our model.Comment: 7 pages, no figur
Supergravity Inflation Free from Harmful Relics
We present a realistic supergravity inflation model which is free from the
overproduction of potentially dangerous relics in cosmology, namely moduli and
gravitinos which can lead to the inconsistencies with the predictions of baryon
asymmetry and nucleosynthesis. The radiative correction turns out to play a
crucial role in our analysis which raises the mass of supersymmetry breaking
field to intermediate scale. We pay a particular attention to the non-thermal
production of gravitinos using the non-minimal Kahler potential we obtained
from loop correction. This non-thermal gravitino production however is
diminished because of the relatively small scale of inflaton mass and small

A review of Quantum Gravity at the Large Hadron Collider
The aim of this article is to review the recent developments in the
phenomenology of quantum gravity at the Large Hadron Collider. We shall pay
special attention to four-dimensional models which are able to lower the
reduced Planck mass to the TeV region and compare them to models with a large
extra-dimensional volume. We then turn our attention to reviewing the emission
of gravitons (massless or massive) at the LHC and to the production of small

Gravitational decays of heavy particles in large extra dimensions
In the framework of quantum gravity propagating in large extra dimensions, we
analyze the inclusive radiative emission of Kaluza-Klein spin-2 gravitons in
the two-fermions decays of massive gauge bosons, heavy quarks, Higgs bosons,
and in the two-massive gauge bosons decay of Higgs bosons. We provide
analytical expressions for the square modulus of amplitudes summed over
polarizations, and numerical results for the widths and branching ratios. The
corresponding decays in the Z, top quark, and Higgs boson sectors of the

Dr. Edwin Lennette, Virus Laboratory, California Department of Public Health, reports isolation of type 1 virus from the stool of case PSU No. Cal-21. He also reports isolation of type 1 virus from the stool of a third \uc2\ub0th contact of non-paralytic case PSU No. Cal-14. Isolations from 2 other contacts of this case were previously reported.Dr. Werner Henle, Children\ue2\u20ac\u2122s Hospital, Philadelphia, reports isolation of type 1 poliomyelitis virus from Case PSU No. Pa-2. This is the first isolation from a case receiving Wyeth Vaccine. This case had first paralysis at the same site as inoculation.One new case was accepted today from West Virginia. This seven-year-old female developed bulbar signs 26 days after inoculation with Lilly Vaccine. Vaccinated cases total 79 at 12:00 noon 5-20-55 (Table l)
Unstable Heavy Majorana Neutrinos and Leptogenesis
We propose a new mechanism producing a non-vanishing lepton number asymmetry,
based on decays of heavy Majorana neutrinos. If they are produced out of
equilibrium, as occurs in preheating scenario, and are superpositions of mass
eigenstates rapidly decaying, their decay rates contains interference terms
provided the mass differences are small compared to widths .
The resulting lepton asymmetry, which is the analogue of the time-integrated CP
