Hyper-Zagreb indices of graphs and its applications

The first and second Hyper-Zagreb index of a connected graph GG is defined by HM1(G)=uvE(G)[d(u)+d(v)]2HM_{1}(G)=\sum_{uv \in E(G)}[d(u)+d(v)]^{2} and HM2(G)=uvE(G)[d(u).d(v)]2HM_{2}(G)=\sum_{uv \in E(G)}[d(u).d(v)]^{2}. In this paper, the first and second Hyper-Zagreb indices of certain graphs are computed. Also the bounds for the first and second Hyper-Zagreb indices are determined. Further linear regression analysis of the degree based indices with the boiling points of benzenoid hydrocarbons is carried out. The linear model, based on the Hyper-Zagreb index, is better than the models corresponding to the other distance based indices

Now a day saving energy has become one of the most significant points. Particularly, a light accounts for a great part of the total energy consumption. Now a day market can be introduced various light control systems because the installed lighting systems are old and energy-inefficient. However, due to structural limitations, the existing light control systems cannot be successfully involved to home and office buildings. Hence, recommends of new intelligent household LED lighting system considering energy productivity and user comfort. The recommended LED lighting system can autonomously adjust the minimum light intensity value to enhance both energy productivity and user comfort. The recommended LED lighting system decreases total power consumption. The technology of Power over Ethernet can take sufficient electricity to LED lighting system. Depending on the understanding knowledge of the current illumination and the whole persons in a room, the system can automatically distinguish and utilize a predefined brightness. Therefore, it overcomes the limitations of a traditional light control system. At the same time system can transfers DCpower and data through Ethernet, reduce the power adapter failure which caused by data network failure and promotes the application of the low power network equipment

HD 12098 and other results from NainiTal-Cape survey

NainiTal-Cape Survey is a survey started with the aim of searching for new rapidly oscillating Ap stars in the northern hemisphere and has discovered one mono-periodic roAp star HD 12098. The frequency separation of HD 12098 suggests a rotation period of 5.5 day for the star. The discovery of roAp oscillations in HD 12098 and the results of the multi-site observation campaign organized to resolve the ambiguity in the determination of the rotation period of HD 12098 is presented. The results of non oscillating Ap stars discovered in the survey and two promising roAp candidates HD 17431 and HD 207561 are also presented. If confirmed, the variability in HD 207561 will make it the first Am star showing roAp type rapid variability.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures, JAA sty, To appear in the proceedings of ARIES international workshop on Asteroseismolog

Some applications of randomized algorithms for control system design

In this paper a few “difficult” problems related to simultaneous stabilization of three plants (equivalent to a certain problem related to unit interpolation in H∞) have been addressed through the framework of randomized algorithms. These problems which were proposed by Blondel (Simultaneous Stabilization of Linear Systems, Springer, Berlin, 1994) and Blondel and Gevers (Math. Control Signals Systems 6 (1994) 135) concern the existence of a controller

Prospective study of bedside inoculation of blood culture bottles with ascitic fluid versus delayed inoculation for the detection of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis

Background: Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is the most common bacterial infection in cirrhosis, accounting for 10%-30% of all reported bacterial infections in the patients admitted to hospital. Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is the most frequent and life-threatening infection in patients with liver cirrhosis. All forms of cirrhosis have been reported to be complicated by SBP. A delay in the time period between the collection of the ascitic fluid sample, and its inoculation into the blood culture media, has been one of the reasons implicated to account for low-test positivity. There was lack of studies for comparing the bacterial yield between bedside inoculated blood culture bottles with ascitic fluid over delayed inoculation in the detection of SBP. Hence this study is done to compare the bacterial yield between bedside inoculated blood culture bottles with ascitic fluid over delayed inoculation for the detection of SBP.Methods: Cross sectional study. Results: Maximum number of cases of cirrhosis with ascites with SBP was seen in the age group of 31-40years (54.4%) with mean age of study population being 39.66years, more common in males, bed side inoculation yielded more positive culture reports compared to delayed inoculation and E. coli and klebsilla being the common organisms. Conclusions: Difference between 2 culture methods in isolating organism in SBP cases was not statically significant. But, among culture positive cases, this study demonstrates that bedside inoculation of blood culture bottles is superior to delayed laboratory inoculation
