Magnetoelectrochemistry and asymmetric electrochemical reactions
Magnetoelectrochemistry is a branch of electrochemistry where magnetic fields play a vital role in the oxidation and reduction process of the molecules. When it comes to spin-dependent electrochemistry (SDE), becomes a new paradigm. This work presents electrochemical response during the âchiral imprintingâ on working electrodes and the effects of potentiostatic and galvanostatic methods. We explore the use of the SDE concept, which is implemented for chiral-ferromagnetic (CFM) hybrid working electrodes, and we compare various electrochemical parameters affecting the quality of deposition. We electrochemically co-deposited nickel (Ni) with a chiral compound (tartaric acid) in its enantiopure forms (L and D), which allows us to obtain a chiral co-deposited nickel-tartaric acid (Ni-LTA or Ni-DTA) working electrode
Use of telemedicine in the postoperative assessment of proctological patients: a case-control study
Background: Telemedicine is emerging as an easy way to communicate between patients and surgeons. Use of telemedicine increased during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. WhatsApp is one of the most common smartphone applications for user-friendly telemedicine. The aim of this study was to evaluate patient perception of health quality and positive outcomes using a diary sent by the patient to the surgeon via WhatsApp during the first post-discharge week after proctologic surgery. Methods: Ninety-eight patients discharged after proctologic surgery at the Israelite Hospital of Rome and the AOU Policlinico Umberto I of Rome in 1 January-31 December 2019 were divided into two groups: the WhatsApp group (group A), (nâ=â36) and the no WhatsApp group (group B) (nâ=â62). Group A patients received a protocol to follow for the day-by-day diary during the first post-discharge week and sending it by WhatsApp to the surgeon. Group B patients only received recommendations at discharge. The tool's usefulness was assessed by a questionnaire one month after the intervention. Results: The two groups were homogeneous for age, sex, schooling, employment, and proctologic pathology. Group A patients had less difficulty keeping a diary (pâ<â0.0001). Group A patients had the perception of better follow-up post-discharge (pâ=â0.002). The use of the diary sent by WhatsApp significantly improved the perception of positive post-intervention outcomes (pâ=â0.007). WhatsApp was the only independent predictor of perception of post-surgical positive outcomes (odds ratioâ=â4.06; 95% CI 1.35-12.24; pâ=â0.01). Conclusions: The use of WhatsApp in the post-discharge period improves the lifestyle quality of the patients and their perception of the safety and quality of care received
Anthropic pressures on Nature 2000 Sites: recommendations and monitoring criteria for the pollution emergency response activities within the Orbetello lagoon

attivitĂ antropiche che si svolgono al suo interno
(es. pesca, turismo, trasporti, attivitĂ industriali,
etc.) siano gestite in maniera tale da non pregiudicare
le specie e gli habitat per i quali lâarea Ăš
stata designata. Molti di questi Siti sono ambienti
di transizione, ovvero zone che costituiscono il
passaggio naturale tra terra e mare. La loro
posizione di interfaccia tra questi due ambienti li
rende ecosistemi unici e biologicamente molto
produttivi, sede di meccanismi di regolazione dei processi interattivi della biosfera nelle due
fasi, terrestre e marina. In alcuni Siti la presenza
di attivitĂ antropiche diffuse e prolungate nel
tempo ha portato al riscontro di stati di
contaminazione elevata, fino allâinclusione di
queste zone, o parti di esse, tra i Siti di bonifica
di Interesse Nazionale (SIN). Il presente lavoro
descrive le linee di indirizzo e le attivitĂ di
monitoraggio da attuare per la salvaguardia della
salute pubblica e dellâambiente nel corso degli
interventi di messa in sicurezza di emergenza
predisposti nellâarea lagunare antistante lâarea
industriale Ex Sitoco, allâinterno della perimetrazione
del SIN di Orbetello, incluso in un Sito di
Importanza Comunitaria. Le matrici ambientali
potenzialmente a rischio a causa dellâesecuzione
di tali interventi sono: acqua, sedimento,
biocenosi acquatiche, avifauna, uomo.

of Natura 2000 sites requires that all human
activities performed within their borders (e.g.
fishing, tourism, transports, industrial activities)
are regulated. Indeed, the site management
should assure the effective safeguard of all
species and habitats of European interest
included in the protected area. A lot of such
sites are located in transitional environments,
that are areas characterised by a natural
progression from the terrestrial to the water
environments. Such environments include
unique and very productive habitats, and they
represent the regulation mechanisms of the
interactive processes of the terrestrial and
marine biosphere. In some sites, the presence
of human activities that are distributed both in
space and time has led to high levels of contamination,
that in some cases even required their
inclusion in Reclamation Sites of National
Interest (SIN). The present study describes the
planning and monitoring activities to be
performed in order to safeguard human and
environment health during the actions of MISE in the lagoonal area in front of the industrial area
Ex Sitoco, within the borders of the Orbetello
SIN, included in a SCI. The environmental
parameters that are potentially at risk due to
such activities are: water, sediment, water
biocenosis, birds, humans. Furthermore, it is
important to evaluate the effects that potential
variations at the microscale level may cause at
the macroscale level
Combined Effects of Age and Comorbidities on Electrocardiographic Parameters in a Large Non-Selected Population
Background: Previous studies have evaluated average electrocardiographic (ECG) values in healthy subjects or specific subpopulations. However, none have evaluated ECG average values in not selected populations, so we examined ECG changes with respect to age and sex in a large primary population. Methods: From digitized ECG stored from 2008 to 2021 in the Modena province, 130,471 patients were enrolled. Heart rate, P, QRS and T wave axis, P, QRS and T wave duration, PR interval, QTc, and frontal QRS-T angle were evaluated. Results: All ECG parameters showed a dependence on age, but only some of them with a straight-line correlation: QRS axis (p < 0.001, R2 = 0.991, r = 0.996), PR interval (p < 0.001, R2 = 0.978, r = 0.989), QTc (p < 0.001, R2 = 0.935, r = 0.967), and, in over 51.5 years old, QRS-T angle (p < 0.001, R2 = 0.979, r = 0.956). Differences between females and males and in different clinical settings were observed. Conclusions: ECG changes with ageing are explainable by intrinsic modifications of the heart and thorax and with the appearance of cardiovascular diseases and comorbidities. Age-related reference values were computed and applicable in clinical practice. Significant deviations from mean values and from Z-scores should be investigated
The body I live in. Perceptions and meanings of body dissatisfaction in young transgender adults: a qualitative study
Body dissatisfaction in individuals with Gender Incongruence (GI) represents a primary source of suâ”ering. Several studies have highlighted how this suâ”ering has psychological, physical, and biological implications. This work aims to explore experiences related to body dissatisfaction and investigate the issues associated with living in a body perceived as incongruent for individuals with GI. Thirty-six individuals, aged between 18 and 30 years old and at stage T0 of hormone treatment, participated in the study. Body dissatisfaction and experiences related to it were investigated using the Clinical Diagnostic Interview. The Consensual Qualitative Research methodology was applied to the transcripts of the interviews. Several themes emerged: experiences with GI development, experiences with puberty and bodily changes, perception of oneâs body, psychological problems and complex behavioral patterns related to body dissatisfaction. Results pointed out the complexity implied in the relationship with oneâs body for individuals with GI, highlighting specific aspects of body dissatisfaction among these individuals (e.g., eating disorders, sexual diculties, social withdrawal). This study underlines the need for a deeper understanding of some aspects of GI to better define guidelines for a correct assessment of it. In this way it will be easier to avoid negative outcomes for the psychological and general health of transgender people
The peculiar B-type supergiant HD327083
Coude spectroscopic data of a poorly-studied peculiar supergiant, HD327083,
are presented. Halpha and Hbeta line profiles have been fitted employing a
non-LTE code adequate for spherically expanding atmospheres. Line fits lead to
estimates of physical parameters. These parameters suggest that HD327083 may be
close to the Luminous Blue Variable phase but it is also possible that it could

In vitro evaluation of live attenuated vaccines against Salmonella enteritidis: humoral immune response
Salmonella enteritidis (SE) vaccination is one of the major tool to reduce the infection in commercial poultry. In this work, techniques, evaluating the presence of Ig-G and Ig-A in serum, tears and intestinal secretions, were studied to improve the knowledge of the humoral immune response following SE live attenuated vaccination. The Ig-G and Ig-A ELISA are important and easy tests to plan and optimize SE vaccination programs
An Atlas of Monte Carlo Models of Dust Extinction in Galaxies for Cosmological Applications
We present an extensive study of the radiative transfer in dusty galaxies
based on Monte Carlo simulations. The main output of these simulations are the
attenuation curves (i.e. the ratio between the observed,
dust extinguished, total intensity to the intrinsic unextinguished one of the
galaxy as a function of wavelength). We have explored the dependence of on a conspicuous set of quantities (Hubble type, inclination, dust
optical thickness, dust distribution and extinction properties) for a large
wavelength interval, ranging from 1250\AA to the K band, thus finally providing
a comprehensive atlas of dust extinction in galaxies, which is electronically
available. This study is particularly suitable for inclusion into galaxy
formation evolution models and to directly interpret observational data on high

HST Measurements of the Expansion of NGC 6543: Parallax Distance and Nebular Evolution
The optical expansion parallax of NGC 6543 has been detected and measured
using two epochs of HST images separated by a time baseline of only three
years. We have utilized three separate methods of deriving the angular
expansion of bright fiducials, the results of which are in excellent agreement.
We combine our angular expansion estimates with spectroscopically obtained
expansion velocities to derive a distance to NGC 6543 of 1001269 pc. The
deduced kinematic age of the inner bright core of the nebula is 1039259
years; however, the kinematic age of the polar caps that surround the core is
larger - perhaps the result of deceleration or earlier mass ejection. The
morphology and expansion patterns of NGC 6543 provide insight into a complex
history of axisymmetric, interacting stellar mass ejections.Comment: Accepted for publication in AJ. 18 pages. 6 figure
