INVESTMENT IDEAS IN A VOLATILE ENVIRONMENT - A STUDY CASE FOR THE 2012 SOCIETY

    Get PDF
The year 2011 has proven to be a highly volatile year, especially if we take into account the Eurozone crisis. Even so, the year 2011 has proved to be a year in which great opportunities were created, as well. Our article “Investment Ideas in a Volatile Environment - A Study Case for the 2012 Society” starts by presenting both the strong and the weak points of the year 2011, in terms of assets markets and net results, continuing with the general outlook of the year 2012 and putting a strong emphasis on the investment ideas for 2012. In our study we are going to describe the opportunities that exist in the year 2012, providing answers to questions such as: what equities should investors focus on, what changes can be predicted in terms of foreign exchange market, what will the evolution of the commodities be like, how will the evolution of different types of currencies look like

On Communication Complexity in Evolution-Communication P Systems

Looking for a theory of communication complexity for P systems, we consider here so-called evolution-communication (EC for short) P systems, where objects evolve by multiset rewriting rules without target commands and pass through membranes by means of symport/antiport rules. (Actually, in most cases below we use only symport rules.) We first propose a way to measure the communication costs by means of “quanta of energy” (produced by evolution rules and) consumed by communication rules. EC P systems with such costs are proved to be Turing complete in all three cases with respect to the relation between evolution and communication operations: priority of communication, mixing the rules without priority for any type, priority of evolution (with the cost of communication increasing in this ordering in the universality proofs). More appropriate measures of communication complexity are then defined, as dynamical parameters, counting the communication steps or the number (and the weight) of communication rules used during a computation. Such parameters can be used in three ways: as properties of P systems (considering the families of sets of numbers generated by systems with a given communication complexity), as conditions to be imposed on computations (accepting only those computations with a communication complexity bounded by a given threshold), and as standard complexity measures (defining the class of problems which can be solved by P systems with a bounded complexity). Because we ignore the evolution steps, in all three cases it makes sense to consider hierarchies starting with finite complexity thresholds. We only give some preliminary results about these hierarchies (for instance, proving that already their lower levels contain complex – e.g., non-semilinear – sets), and we leave open many problems and research issues.Junta de Andalucía P08 – TIC 0420

Edge- and Node-Disjoint Paths in P Systems

In this paper, we continue our development of algorithms used for topological network discovery. We present native P system versions of two fundamental problems in graph theory: finding the maximum number of edge- and node-disjoint paths between a source node and target node. We start from the standard depth-first-search maximum flow algorithms, but our approach is totally distributed, when initially no structural information is available and each P system cell has to even learn its immediate neighbors. For the node-disjoint version, our P system rules are designed to enforce node weight capacities (of one), in addition to edge capacities (of one), which are not readily available in the standard network flow algorithms.Comment: In Proceedings MeCBIC 2010, arXiv:1011.005

Study On Some Copper - Molybdenum Based Composite Materials Condensed from the Vapour Phase

    Get PDF
Design features of equipment are given for realizing high-speed process of electron beam evaporation and condensation. Peculiarities of phase composition and structure of a crystallized pool (melt) on copper base are studied. Assumption was made about interrelation of structure-phase state of the melt and rate of evaporation-condensation. Specifics of surface structure and volume of condensate in different sections (before and after etching) are investigated. Technological defects, their influence on strength and ductility of the condensate at tensile test are considered. Interrelation of temperature dependence of energy of deformation activation, specifics of condensate fracture and technological defects of structure, different by origin, are studied

The initiative (since 2014) project described in this paper is a product of a joint innovative research and implementation effort of the Civil Engineering and Architecture Institute, Ural Federal University, the Science and Engineering Centre "Reliability and Safety of Large Systems and Machines", Ural Branch Russian Academy of Sciences (both Yekaterinburg), Start-up OptiCits, Barcelona, Spain and the Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, USA. The project is based on using the MAICS convergent technology [1] to create a versatile multi-purpose tool for optimizing the science and art of risk based governance of resilience-smart and sustainable city infrastructure and communities operating in usual and extreme conditions. The tool being developed is tailored to the needs of the City of Yekaterinburg-the capital of the Urals Region and allegedly the third most important and vibrant city of Russia. It is also being offered to the Yekaterinburg City Administration as an every-day decision-support work-tool and addendum to the Strategic Program "Yekaterinburg 2030 - a Safe City"[2] during preparation of the city for winning and conducting the World Expo-2025. Authors believe that the findings of this research would also be useful to the Sverdlovsk Oblast cities of every size and type of communities that inhabit them, including, first and foremost, Nizhny Tagil, Kamensk Uralsky, Serov, Pervouralsk, Revda, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, multiple mono-cities et al. The project also incorporates block-chain technology, smart contracts and digital currency as an effective tool for implementing the project. © 2018 Institute of Physics Publishing.
