The study refers to data for the 2009-2019 period, retrieved from an official source – the NSI. The analysis of one of the key economic sectors in Bulgaria – Trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and the measures studied from a financial and economic point of view, in particular, leads to the conclusion that it is highly dependent on everything that happens in the country in economic and social terms. In structural terms, the study consists of two main parts, covering the characteristics and trends in the Trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” industry in Bulgaria for the 2009-2019 period. The positive and negative factors affecting the sector are drawn as a result

Some Piano Improvisations by Nicolas Economou

    Get PDF
The paper examines some of the piano improvisations of the Cypriot pianist and composer Nicolas Economou (1953-1993). Highly acclaimed for his piano interpretations, Economou is little known as a composer and improviser. A large part of his compositions existed only as recordings and they were notated after his tragic death. The paper reviews how the composer’s creative personality was influenced by the jazz instrumental culture of the 20th century. The research focuses not only on some of the individual improvisations of Economou but also on the “group” improvisations of Nicolas Economou, Friedrich and Paul Gulda, Chick Corea and Rodion Shchedrin during the Munich Summer Piano Festival in 1982 and 1983.Nicolas Economou explained in the preface of the album “On two pianos” that his attempt was to “break down the stuffy ritual surrounding classical music” and bring the spontaneity of music creativity back to the audience. The aims and the objectives of the research are to introduce a very important feature of the creative thinking of Economou – his mastership in improvisation, which is reflected in the different approaches towards the form of his compositions. His great improvisatory talent places him among the most important Cypriot composers

    * Supported partially by the Bulgarian National Science Fund under Grant MM-1405/2004OLAP applications provide a possibility to data analysis over large collections of historical data in the data warehouses, supporting the decision-making process. This paper presents an application that creates a data cube and demonstrates the effectiveness of the applying the OLAP operations when it necessary to analyze the data and obtain the valuable information from the data. It allows the analysis of factual data that is daily downloads of folklore materials, according to dimensions of interest

Sociodemographic and health profile of institutionalized people aged 65 and over

Introduction: Accommodation for people aged 65 and over in social institutions is often the only opportunity for their physical survival. Revealing the specific characteristics of elderly people living in institutions will help the understanding and satisfaction of their different needs, and hopefully will increase their quality of life.Aim: The aim of this study is to reveal the sociodemographic and health profile of institutionalized people aged 65 and over.Materials and Methods: Sociodemographic and health information for age, gender, education, marital status, diagnosed diseases and mobility for all 175 people aged 65 and over, living in four residential homes in Varna and Provadia was extracted from their records. Results: The most prevalent group among the studied participants is women, and those in the age group 81–85 years. Most of the residents are widowers with upper secondary education. The leading diagnosis among the institutionalized elderly are those from ICD class IX: Diseases of the Circulatory System. Most of the people have limited mobility and use assistive technology (AT). People with normal and limited mobility have an almost equal share, as the first group is 44% and the second—46.3%. The remaining nearly 10% are severely disabled (unable to leave the bed). Conclusion: The sociodemographic and health profile of institutionalised elderly people provides necessary information to health professionals for the health needs of that specific group of the population

Application of the principles of integrated care in department of endocrinology and metabolism diseases at the hospital St. Marina Varna

    Get PDF
The article presents the principles of integrated care applied in the treatment of patients with diabetes in the Department of Endocrinology at the University Hospital "St. Marina" Varna. An important point in the treatment of diabetes is customer orientation. The increased life expectancy, the aging population and the cost of treatment of patients with diabetes, both globally and in Bulgaria, prompted the need for the development of integrated care. Integrated care focuses on ensuring continuous care for patients with diabetes by multidisciplinary teams

Design and performance analysis of integrated focusing grating couplers for the transverse-magnetic TM00 mode in a photonic BiCMOS technology

    Get PDF
Focusing grating couplers for the excitation of the fundamental transverse-magnetic (TM) mode in integrated silicon photonic waveguides are designed and characterized under the boundary conditions of a photonic BiCMOS foundry. Two types of waveguide geometries are considered – a nanowire and a rib waveguide. Wafer-scale experimental results for nanowire TM grating couplers are in excellent agreement with numerical investigations and demonstrate a robust behavior on the wafer. The mean coupling loss and the 3σ interval are -3.9 ± 0.3 dB. The on wafer variation is three times lower than for the fundamental transverse-electric (TE) polarization. Similarly, the coupling in rib waveguides is examined as well. The results indicate that the rib waveguides require a modified geometry when designed for TM. In general, the nanowire waveguide type is more suitable for TM coupling, showing a stable and repeatable performance.DFG, 414044773, Open Access Publizieren 2019 - 2020 / Technische Universität Berli

THE CONTRIBUTION OF NURSES IN THE PREVENTION, CONTROL AND COMBAT OF LYMPHEDEMA IN BREAST CARCINOMA - INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Introduction. Breast cancer (breast cancer) is one of the most frequently diagnosed malignant diseases and among the leading causes of death in women worldwide. This defines it as a disease of great medico-social significance, involving more and more the world scientific community. Along with its medical and socioeconomic psychosocial consequences, patients often develop lymphedema, which is one of the most severe complications after breast cancer treatment. The aim of the present study is to investigate the contribution and functions of the nurse in the process of prevention, control and fight against lymphedema, in mammary gland carcinoma, based on the existing international scientific evidence.Materials and methods. A documentary method was applied. Information retrieved from publications found through a Pubmed search with keywords: prevention, control, lymphedema, breast carcinoma, internationalexperience, nurses, patients, was examined. Information from bibliographic references, specialized literature, statistical data from international and national organizations related to the prevention and treatment of oncological diseases, regulatory documents was also studied. Results and discussion. The analysis of the scientific literature emphasizes the role of the nurse in the prevention of lymphedema, not only as a health professional acting in collaboration with the medical staff, but above all as a professional responsible for the care and education of the patient. This allows nurses to maketheir important contribution to the prevention, control and fight against lymphedema in breast cancer, by identifying patients at high risk of developing lymphedema, implementing the necessary preventive measures, planning and evaluating long-term patient care with mild lymphedema, psychological support, health education and information.Conclusion. Nurses occupy an important place and have a key role in the process of prevention and fight against lymphedema in breast cancer, performing their main functions. They make their high contribution in protecting, maintaining and restoring the health of individuals and their families, taking part in this important process

Cross-polarization effects in sheared 2D grating couplers in a photonic BiCMOS technology

We investigate numerically and experimentally sheared 2D grating couplers in a photonic BiCMOS technology with a focus on their splitting behavior. Two realization forms of a waveguide-to-grating shear angle are considered. The cross-polarization used as a figure-of-merit is shown to be strongly dependent on the grating perturbation strength and is a crucial limitation not only for the grating splitting performance, but also for its coupling efficiency.Comment: This is a preprint version of an article accepted for publication in Japanese Journal of Applied Physics.
