EverLight: Indoor-Outdoor Editable HDR Lighting Estimation
Because of the diversity in lighting environments, existing illumination
estimation techniques have been designed explicitly on indoor or outdoor
environments. Methods have focused specifically on capturing accurate energy
(e.g., through parametric lighting models), which emphasizes shading and strong
cast shadows; or producing plausible texture (e.g., with GANs), which
prioritizes plausible reflections. Approaches which provide editable lighting
capabilities have been proposed, but these tend to be with simplified lighting
models, offering limited realism. In this work, we propose to bridge the gap
between these recent trends in the literature, and propose a method which
combines a parametric light model with 360{\deg} panoramas, ready to use as
HDRI in rendering engines. We leverage recent advances in GAN-based LDR
panorama extrapolation from a regular image, which we extend to HDR using
parametric spherical gaussians. To achieve this, we introduce a novel lighting
co-modulation method that injects lighting-related features throughout the
generator, tightly coupling the original or edited scene illumination within
the panorama generation process. In our representation, users can easily edit
light direction, intensity, number, etc. to impact shading while providing
rich, complex reflections while seamlessly blending with the edits.
Furthermore, our method encompasses indoor and outdoor environments,
demonstrating state-of-the-art results even when compared to domain-specific

Couplages poroélastiques dans des branches naturelles et artificielles en lien avec la mécano-perception des plantes
Dans la nature les plantes sont soumises à des sollicitations mécaniques externes qui ont un impact important sur leur croissance. De façon remarquable, cette réponse en croissance n'est pas seulement locale mais aussi non-locale, suggérant un transport de l'information. Récemment, il a été suggéré que ce signal pourrait être une onde de pression générée par la flexion mécanique des branches. Afin de tester cette idée, nous avons élaboré une branche artificielle en élastomère de silicone (PDMS). De façon surprenante, la flexion d'une telle branche génère une surpression dont l'amplitude varie quadratiquement avec la déformation imposée. Pour comprendre l'origine de cette réponse non-linéaire, nous proposons un modèle énergétique simple. Des expériences sur des branches naturelles suggèrent la robustesse de ce mécanisme
The Citius End: World Records Progression Announces the Completion of a Brief Ultra-Physiological Quest
World records (WR) in sports illustrate the ultimate expression of human integrated muscle biology, through speed or strength performances. Analysis and prediction of man's physiological boundaries in sports and impact of external (historical or environmental) conditions on WR occurrence are subject to scientific controversy. Based on the analysis of 3263 WR established for all quantifiable official contests since the first Olympic Games, we show here that WR progression rate follows a piecewise exponential decaying pattern with very high accuracy (mean adjusted r2 values = 0.91±0.08 (s.d.)). Starting at 75% of their estimated asymptotic values in 1896, WR have now reached 99%, and, present conditions prevailing, half of all WR will not be improved by more than 0,05% in 2027. Our model, which may be used to compare future athletic performances or assess the impact of international antidoping policies, forecasts that human species' physiological frontiers will be reached in one generation. This will have an impact on the future conditions of athlete training and on the organization of competitions. It may also alter the Olympic motto and spirit

Suite à un projet immobilier déposé par la société Bouygues, une intervention d’archéologie préventive a été prescrite par le service régional de l’archéologie du Nord-Pas-de-Calais à Templeuve-en-Pévèle, rue Grande Campagne. Le site avait fait l’objet d’un diagnostic préalable en 2014, lequel révéla la présence d’un axe routier gallo-romain associé à une tombe à caractère privilégié (Neaud 2014).
