On Objective Measures of Rule Surprisingness
Most of the literature argues that surprisingness is an inherently subjective aspect of the discovered knowledge, which cannot be measured in objective terms. This paper departs from this view, and it has a twofold goal: (1) showing that it is indeed possible to define objective (rather than subjective) measures of discovered rule surprisingness; (2) proposing new ideas and methods for defining objective rule surprisingness measures
Investigating Fatigue Performance on the Foamed Asphalt Specimens Generated Using Different Foam Properties
An evaluation of fatigue resistance for foamed asphalt mixture is very demanding since the binder is not continuously distributed on the aggregate surface and this mixtures contains water, the content of which dramatically affects the mechanical properties. This paper discusses the results of laboratory fatigue testingon the foamed asphalt mixtures in which the specimens are generated using three different foamed bitumen properties. Foamed bitumen as the binder was produced at three different foaming water content (FWC) at a temperature of 180oC using a 70/100 pen. The aggregates were mechanically mixed with foamed bitumen using a Hobart mixer. The resulting mixtures were then compacted using a gyratory compactor to generatespecimen with diameter of 100 mm. The specimens were fatigue tested at various stress levels at a temperature of 20oC following a curing period of 3 days at 40oC. Overall, fatigue performance of foamed asphalt can be identified based upon both stress and strain for mixtures produced at FWC 1%, 5%, and 10%
Susceptibilities near the QCD (tri)critical point
Based on the proper-time renormalization group approach, the scalar and the
quark number susceptibilities in the vicinity of possible critical end points
of the hadronic phase diagram are investigated in the two-flavor quark-meson
model. After discussing the quark-mass dependence of the location of such
points, the critical behavior of the in-medium meson masses and quark number
density are calculated. The universality classes of the end points are
determined by calculating the critical exponents of the susceptibilities. In
order to numerically estimate the influence of fluctuations we compare all
quantities with results from a mean-field approximation. It is concluded that
the region in the phase diagram where the susceptibilities are enhanced is more

Developmental trajectory of communication repair in children with Fragile X Syndrome

The development of communicative competence requires both language and social skills. The ability to repair following a communication breakdown is critical for continued conversational interchange and to ensure comprehension of bids for communication. Communication repair demonstrates adequate language and social skills. Children with Fragile X Syndrome have difficulty with language development and social skills, which may result in delays or deficits in repair. Repair may be additionally impaired in children with Fragile X Syndrome and co-morbid autism. This study examined the development of repair in children with Fragile X Syndrome from toddlerhood into middle childhood.
Methods
Fifty-five children with Fragile X Syndrome and their biological mothers participated. Data were collected during in-home visits approximately every 18 months. Videotaped mother–child interactions were collected, as well as standardized assessments of language, social skills, and autism symptomology.
Results
Children with Fragile X Syndrome acquired the ability to repair at 90% mastery by three-and-a-half years of age. Multilevel logistic regressions predicting probability of repair indicated marginally significant effects of mean length of utterance and number of different words, and significant effects of global social skills and autism symptomology. Effect sizes were small to moderate.
Conclusions
Ability to repair was measured in a naturalistic setting, which allowed children with Fragile X Syndrome to utilize repairs in their daily interactions. Although children with Fragile X Syndrome may have delayed development of repair relative to typically developing expectations, in general they nonetheless catch up and demonstrate a robust ability to repair by three-and-a-half years of age. However, this study provides evidence that individual differences in language and social skills may influence ability to repair in children with Fragile X Syndrome. Finally, the relationship between autism symptoms and repair remains unclear, necessitating further exploration.
Implications: Given the noted delay in repair in young children with Fragile X Syndrome, clinicians working with this population should target development of this skill as early as possible to maximize successful social interactions. Influence of interstitial Li on the electronic properties of LiCsPbI for photovoltaic and battery applications
The integrated device of a perovskite solar cell with a Li-ion battery is an
innovative solution for decentralized energy storage in smart electronic
devices. In this study, we examine the stability of Li ions intercalated in a
CsPbI perovskite and their effect on the electronic structure of
LiCsPbI compounds using first-principles density functional theory. Our
simulations demonstrate that the insertion of Li at concentrations up to =
1 into CsPbI is energetically possible. Moreover, we identify that the
distortion of the Pb-I octahedra has the strongest impact on the change in the
electronic band gap. Specifically, an increase in the amount of intercalated Li
causes larger structural distortions, which in turn lead to an increasing band
gap as function of the Li content
VLA Limits for Intermediate Mass Black Holes in Three Globular Clusters
The observational evidence for central black holes in globular clusters has
been argued extensively, and their existence has important consequences for
both the formation and evolution of the cluster. Most of the evidence comes
from dynamical arguments, but the interpretation is difficult, given the short
relaxation times and old ages of the clusters. One of the most robust
signatures for the existence of a black hole is radio and/or X-ray emission. We
observed three globular clusters, NGC6093 (M80), NGC6266 (M62), and NGC7078
(M15), with the VLA in the A and C configuration with a 3-sigma noise of 36, 36
and 25 microJy, respectively. We find no statistically-significant evidence for
radio emission from the central region for any of the three clusters. NGC6266
shows a 2-sigma detection. It is difficult to infer a mass from these upper
limits due to uncertainty about the central gas density, accretion rate, and

SM-1 REACTOR VESSEL PENETRATED GASKET DESIGN AND TEST REPORT
Mechanical compression tests were performed on gasket test specimens machined to the cross-sectional dimensions of a stainless steel (Type 304) ring type gasket to be installed in the SM-1 reactor pressure vessel. Testing the mechanical properties of the gasket specimens under varying loads, and subsequent sectioning and inspection of specimens for adequacy of welded and brazed joints, gave the following results: (1) a penetration scheme involving five 0.070-in. diam. holes, spaced 1/4 in. center-to-center for each 6 1/2 in. belt circle span, may be made in a gasket ring without materially increasing the gasket stresses, (2) a lug may be welded to the gasket face to provide a brazed sealing support for 0.0625-in. diam. tubes and thermocouples, and (3) excellent attachments can be made by tungsten-inert gas welding of the lug to the gasket face and induction brazing of the tubes and thermocouples to the lug using Nicrobraz alloy.
