VHDL IMPLEMENTATION OF GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR 2-BIT ADDER

    Get PDF
Future planetary and deep space exploration demands that the space vehicles should have robust system architectures and be reconfigurable in unpredictable environment. The Evolutionary design of electronic circuits, or Evolvable hardware (EHW), is a discipline that allows the user to automatically obtain the desired circuit design. The circuit configuration is under control of Evolutionary algorithms. The most commonly used evolutionary algorithm is Genetic Algorithm. The paper discusses on Cartesian Genetic Programming for evolving gate level designs and proposes Evolvable unit for 2-bit adder based on Genetic Algorithm

Embryonic Architecture with Built-in Self-test and GA Evolved Configuration Data

The embryonic architecture, which draws inspirationfrom the biological process of ontogeny, has built-inmechanisms for self-repair. The entire genome is stored in theembryonic cells, allowing the data to be replicated in healthycells in the event of a single cell failure in the embryonic fabric.A specially designed genetic algorithm (GA) is used to evolve theconfiguration information for embryonic cells. Any failed embryoniccell must be indicated via the proposed Built-in Self-test(BIST) the module of the embryonic fabric. This paper recommendsan effective centralized BIST design for a novel embryonic fabric.Every embryonic cell is scanned by the proposed BIST in casethe self-test mode is activated. The centralized BIST design usesless hardware than if it were integrated into each embryoniccell. To reduce the size of the data, the genome or configurationdata of each embryonic cell is decoded using Cartesian GeneticProgramming (CGP). The GA is tested for the 1-bit adder and2-bit comparator circuits that are implemented in the embryoniccell. Fault detection is possible at every function of the cell due tothe BIST module’s design. The CGP format can also offer gate-levelfault detection. Customized GA and BIST are combinedwith the novel embryonic architecture. In the embryonic cell, self-repairis accomplished via data scrubbing for transient errors

Gender Attitudes in Adolescence: Evaluating the Girl Rising Gender-sensitization Program in India

    No full text
Gender sensitization and empowerment programs during adolescence, when gender attitudes are formed, have the potential to diminish gender inequity. The Girl Rising ‘Gender-sensitization program’ was implemented in 254 schools in India to support adolescents in identifying, articulating, and sharing their gender-related experiences. A quasi-experimental study was conducted with a one group pre- and post-test with a sub-sample of schools in rural Punjab and Rajasthan, India (n=2,894 adolescents). Multivariable regression analyses adjusting for gender, grade, and district found that gender equality scores increased by 0.66 points (p\u3c.001), gender roles/privileges/restrictions mean score increased by 0.41 points (p\u3c.001), and gender attribute mean score increased by 0.17 points (p\u3c.001). Gender-sensitization programs can play an important role in forming and changing gender attitudes during adolescence, and have the potential to alter their short and long-term beliefs

Adolescents’ development of gender equity attitudes in India

Gender-equitable attitudes are often constructed during adolescence making this a critical time to alter gender perceptions. However, there is little research on gender attitudes and gender equity in early adolescence, especially in India. This study is a cross-sectional sample of 1,691 participants 8–18 years from three Northern India states. Surveys were collected on mobile tablets and assessed gender perceptions and attitudes. Gender-equitable scores were categorized into low, medium and high. Gender-equitable attitudes and gender vary by grade (p < .001). Gender-equitable attitudes improved with grade, but boys were 46% less likely to be in the moderate category compared to the low category as grade increased (p < .01). Compared to girls, boys were 56% less likely to be in the high category compared to the low category as grade increased (p < .001). Early adolescence is a unique opportunity to address gender attitudes before they become more solidified

    Philanthropy for Impact in Karnataka

Designed as a development brief on Karnataka, this paper provides a comprehensive snapshot of the state's progress on economic, social and environmental parameters. The paper highlights Karnataka's development performance vis-a-vis other Indian states in the following focus areas: Education, Health, Nutrition, WASH, Livelihood, Environment and Women Empowerment. Apart from examining trends, gaps, assets and intra-state disparities, the paper also provides a glimpse of the solution ecosystem in the state as well as development funding flows from various quarters, including government and (CSR). The paper aims to provide philanthropic funders an overview of Karnataka's development, most prominent gaps across the state and districts, areas for collaboration and models that can be emulated
