Think Different: Applying the Old Macintosh Mantra to the Computability of the SUSY Auxiliary Field Problem
Starting with valise supermultiplets obtained from 0-branes plus field
redefinitions, valise adinkra networks, and the "Garden Algebra," we discuss an
architecture for algorithms that (starting from on-shell theories and, through
a well-defined computation procedure), search for off-shell completions. We
show in one dimension how to directly attack the notorious "off-shell auxiliary
field" problem of supersymmetry with algorithms in the adinkra network-world

Direct spatial-temporal discrimination of modes in a photonic lightwave circuit using photon scanning tunnelling microscopy
Multi-mode photonic lightwave circuits (PLCs) provide new avenues for extending the performance of single mode systems. As an example, they can potentially provide increased bandwidth by multiplexing information into different waveguide modes[1]. For practical applications of multi-mode PLCs to be developed, a measurement technique is required to investigate detailed mode profiles and propagation constants in complex circuits. Photon scanning tunnelling microscopy (PSTM) provides a means of experimentally tracking the femtosecond inter-modal delays observed in PLCs with the ability to discriminate modes by their spatial profiles inside the waveguide
Reconsidering publicness in alliance defence expenditures: NATO expansion and burden sharing

Recently, this concern surfaced as members debated the magnitude and distribution of NATO expansion costs. This paper presents an economic model of defence alliances to identify the benefits and burdens of alliance membership. It suggests that defence expenditures provide public benefits if alliance members share common interests and mutual commitment; defence expenditures provide private benefits if countries lack common interests and mutual commitment. The model’s results are used to discuss NATO’s evolving roles and missions, NATO expansion and burden sharing across NATO members

Element-centric clustering comparison unifies overlaps and hierarchy
Clustering is one of the most universal approaches for understanding complex
data. A pivotal aspect of clustering analysis is quantitatively comparing
clusterings; clustering comparison is the basis for many tasks such as
clustering evaluation, consensus clustering, and tracking the temporal
evolution of clusters. In particular, the extrinsic evaluation of clustering
methods requires comparing the uncovered clusterings to planted clusterings or
known metadata. Yet, as we demonstrate, existing clustering comparison measures
have critical biases which undermine their usefulness, and no measure
accommodates both overlapping and hierarchical clusterings. Here we unify the
comparison of disjoint, overlapping, and hierarchically structured clusterings
by proposing a new element-centric framework: elements are compared based on
the relationships induced by the cluster structure, as opposed to the
traditional cluster-centric philosophy. We demonstrate that, in contrast to
standard clustering similarity measures, our framework does not suffer from
critical biases and naturally provides unique insights into how the clusterings
differ. We illustrate the strengths of our framework by revealing new insights
into the organization of clusters in two applications: the improved
classification of schizophrenia based on the overlapping and hierarchical
community structure of fMRI brain networks, and the disentanglement of various
social homophily factors in Facebook social networks. The universality of
clustering suggests far-reaching impact of our framework throughout all areas
of science
A new species of Eurytoma (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae) attacking Quadrastichus spp. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) galling Erythrina spp. (Fabaceae), with a summary of African Eurytoma biology and species checklist
Eurytoma erythrinae Gates and Delvare, new species, is described and illustrated. This species was reared from fieldcollected galls on Erythrina spp. (Fabaceae) induced by Quadrastichus spp. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), in Tanzania, Ghana, and South Africa. It is compared with very similar African species, Eurytoma radicicola Risbec. Afrotropical species classified in Eurytoma are reviewed and twenty-seven new combinations are proposed: Aximopsis acaciacola (Hedqvist) comb. n., A. caryedocida (Rasplus) comb. n., A. lamtoensis (Rasplus) comb. n., A. mateui (Hedqvist) comb. n., A. mimosarum (Rasplus) comb. n., A. obocki (Risbec) comb. n., A. oryzivora (Delvare) comb. n., A. saharensis (Hedqvist) comb. n., A. senegalensis (Risbec) comb. n., A. tropicana (Risbec) comb. n., Bruchophagus conapionis (Rasplus) comb. n., Fronsoma ellenbergeri (Risbec) comb. n., Gibsonoma amborasahae (Risbec) comb. n., G. aphloiae (Risbec) comb. n., G. bararakae (Risbec) comb. n., G. eugeniae (Risbec) comb. n., G. mandrakae (Risbec) comb. n., G. pauliani (Risbec) comb. n., G. plectroniae (Risbec) comb. n., G. tavolae (Risbec) comb. n., Philolema arachnovora (Hesse) comb. n., P. arnoldi (Waterston) comb. n., P. bambeyi (Risbec) comb. n., P. braconidis (Ferrière) comb. n., and P. syleptae (Ferri_re) comb. n., Phylloxeroxenus cressoni (Howard) comb. n., and Sycophila plectroniae (Risbec) comb. n.
