    Chiral Symmetry and s-wave Low-Lying Meson-Baryon Resonances

The ss-wave meson-baryon scattering is analyzed for the isospin-strangeness I=1/2,S=0I=1/2, S=0 and I=0,S=1I=0,S=-1 sectors, in a Bethe-Salpeter coupled channel formalism incorporating Chiral Symmetry. For both sectors, four channels have been considered: πN\pi N, ηN\eta N, KΛK \Lambda, KΣK \Sigma and πΣ\pi \Sigma, KˉN\bar K N, ηΛ\eta \Lambda, KΞK \Xi, respectively. The needed two particle irreducible matrix amplitudes are taken from lowest order Chiral Perturbation Theory in a relativistic formalism. There appear undetermined low energy constants, as a consequence of the renormalization of the amplitudes, which are obtained from fits to the available data: elastic πN\pi N phase-shifts, πpηn\pi^- p \to \eta n and πpK0Λ\pi^- p \to K^0 \Lambda cross sections and to πΣπΣ\pi\Sigma\to\pi\Sigma mass-spectrum, the elastic KˉNKˉN\bar K N \to \bar K N and KˉNπΣ \bar K N\to \pi \Sigma tt--matrices and to the KpηΛ K^- p \to \eta \Lambda cross section data. The position and residues of the complex poles in the second Riemann sheet of the scattering amplitude determine masses, widths and branching ratios of the S11S_{11}- NN(1535) and N-N(1650) and S01S_{01}- Λ\Lambda(1405) and Λ-\Lambda(1670) resonances, in reasonable agreement with experiment. A good overall description of data, from threshold up to around 2 GeV is achieved despite the fact that three-body channels have not been explicitly included.Comment: 5 Pages, 2 figures, invited contribution to Focus Session on Nature of Threshold N*, to be published in Proceedings of Nstar 2002, Pittsburgh, USA, October 9-12, 2002 (World Scientific

Viabilidad de la recolección mecánica del pimiento de pimentón: Ensayos de campo.

    Get PDF

What drives the helpfulness of online reviews? A deep learning study of sentiment analysis, pictorial content and reviewer expertise for mature destinations.

User-generated content (UGC) is a growing driver of destination choice. Drawing on dual-process theories on how individuals process information, this study focuses on the role of central and peripheral information processing routes in the formation of consumers’ perceptions of the helpfulness of online reviews. We carried out a two-step process to address the perceived helpfulness of user-generated content, a sentiment analysis using advanced machine-learning techniques (deep learning), and a regression analysis. We used a database of 2,023 comments posted on TripAdvisor about two iconic Venetian cultural attractions, St. Mark’s Square (an open, free attraction) and the Doge’s Palace (a museum which charges an entry fee). Following the application of deep-learning techniques, we first identified which factors influenced whether a review received a “helpful” vote by means of logistic regression. Second, we selected those reviews which received at least one helpful vote to identify, through linear regression, the significant determinants of TripAdvisor users’ voting behaviour. The results showed that reviewer expertise is an influential factor in both free and paid-for attractions, although the impact of central cues (sentiment polarity, subjectivity and pictorial content) is different in both attractions. Our study suggests that managers should look beyond individual ratings and focus on the sentiment analysis of online reviews, which are shown to be based on the nature of the attraction (free vs. paid-for)

Objective optical classifier for tobacco leaves.

The main objective of the current research was to search the optimum method to segregate the most frequent color commercial quality classes of tobacco leaves (c.v. "Virginia"). These color classes cover the whole continuous color scale, between "Pale Lemon" and "Oxidated Brown". With the usual expert classification there exists a significant level of uncertainty . Within this research, several methods for data discrimination were tested, in order to solve uncertainty. Classification errors below 5% were obtained with this proposed classifier along two different seasons (1994&1995)

    Industry-peppers harvest mechanization.

    Get PDF
Production of peppers for deshidration (paprika) and for extraction of natural colorants is of great importance in some Mediterranean irrigation areas. In the area of Badajoz (Spain) traditional production, handling and postharvest systems are no longer feasible, although a very good quality and potential market exist for this product. All aspects of mechanized production and handling have been addressed: direct seeding and transplanting, cultivation systems and mechanical harvesting are searched to be adopted in a new production system. A study of size, shape and fruiting pattern of the new varieties was performed. A feasibility study of mechanized harvesting was also made. Results of field testing of different types of harvesters and performance of existing picking heads are presented, some of which yield a feasible solution for the growers of industry peppers in the area. The design, construction and field testing results of a new picking head based on the double-helix principle is presented
