The study delved into the factors the influence students’ learning progress in the implementation of the science spiral progression curriculum in selected public junior high schools in the Division of Pasig City, Philippines, covering the school year 2017 – 2018. The study used the quantitative approach to research, particularly the descriptive research methodology. The specific descriptive research designs utilized were the correlational and normative surveys. The contextual analysis technique was likewise used. Data were statistically tested with the use of frequency distribution formula, percentage formula, and percentage weighted mean The study concluded that the perspectives of the science teachers in executing the science spiral progression curriculum vary from school to school. The study also found out that several factors influence the students' learning progress and that majority of the Grade 10 students for the School Year 2017 – 2018 of the Division of Pasig City Philippines have “fairly satisfactory” performance

Forced Response of Mistuned Bladed Disks: Quantitative Validation of the Asymptotic Description

The effect of small mistuning in the forced response of a bladed disk is analyzed using a recently introduced methodology: the asymptotic mistuning model. The asymptotic mistuning model is an extremely reduced, simplified model that is derived directly from the full formulation of the mistuned bladed disk using a consistent perturbative procedure based on the relative smallness of the mistuning distortion. A detailed description of the derivation of the asymptotic mistuning model for a realistic bladed disk configuration is presented. The asymptotic mistuning model results for several different mistuning patterns and forcing conditions are compared with those from a high-resolution finite element model. The asymptotic mistuning model produces quantitatively accurate results, and, probably more relevant, it gives precise information about the factors (tuned modes and components of the mistuning pattern) that actually play a role in the vibrational forced response of mistuned bladed disks

Damage and spatiotemporal dynamics of the Ngaio flat mite, Brevipalpus ferraguti (Trombidiformes: Tenuipalpidae), with observations on the development of the female insemination system

[EN] We studied the Ngaio flat mite, Brevipalpus ferraguti Ochoa & Beard, on Myoporum laetum (Scrophulariaceae), a common introduced plant used as hedgerows in gardens and green areas of the Mediterranean, where the mite causes considerable damage. We first describe the damage, and then the patterns of mite seasonal abundance and spatial distribution. Finally, we address the development of the female insemination system at the population level. Damage occurs on both sides of the leaves, starting with a uniform stippling and bronzing and ending in the leaves drying out and extensive defoliation that coincides with summer. Mite population peaked between June and August, maintained moderate levels in autumn and winter and reached its lowest density in early spring. Active motile immatures and eggs were present throughout the year. Females and motile immature forms were more abundant on the abaxial (lower) leaf surface, but eggs were deposited on both surfaces indistinctly, suggesting that females actively move to the adaxial (upper) surface in summer to oviposit. All the developmental stages were aggregated on the leaves throughout the year regardless of their population density. Our study suggests that a binomial or presenceabsence sampling, examining only the number of females on the abaxial surface, can accurately estimate the total mite density levels. Only 23.5% of females possessed a fully developed spermatheca, whereas in 76.5% of the cases the seminal receptacle was not present or not developed. Females with a complete spermatheca were less abundant in summer. Average temperatures and host plant species affected the occurrence of this reproductive structure.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer Nature.Escobar-Garcia, HA.; Ferragut Pérez, FJ. This paper explores the teachers’ experiences of remote assessment in the Junior High School of Rizal Technological University. The qualitative study was used to determine the assessment methods used during the remote learning in terms of written and performance task and identify the most effective among other difficulties faced by the teachers in comparison with face-to-face. Data of the paper were obtained by conducting interviews that use open-ended questions from 10 participants who teach in the School Year 2021-2022. The analysis of the study was done according to themes and categories and participants’ answers were quotes excerpted from the transcripts. The study’s conclusion emphasizes the significance of carefully planning exams to guarantee academic integrity. With emphasis on the need to focus on cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor abilities when designing learning exams, especially for online learning, as well as the use of technology tools to monitor results and prevent dishonest behavior during online assessments. Finally, a complementary technique for evaluating students while they are engaged in online learning through teaching resources or learning management systems must be available

Abstract Background/purpose: Several studies have determined that relaxin stimulates differentiation and regulates the activity of mature osteoclasts, but little is known about its effect on the differentiation of mesenchymal cells towards the osteogenic lineage. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of relaxin on the proliferation and differentiation of the osteoblastic lineage of mesenchymal cells derived from human dental pulp (hDPSC). Materials and methods: In this in vitro study, hDPSC were characterized and treated with relaxin at different doses (10e80 ng/ml) and times (1e21 days). Morphology was assessed by microscopy, and proliferation was assessed using a resazurin assay. Osteoblastic differentiation was evaluated by Alizarin Red staining, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) labeling, and changes in the expression of the osteoblastic differentiation genes RUNX2 and BMP2. Results: Relaxin treatment did not induce changes in the proliferation or viability of hDPSCs; however, larger cells and increased cytoplasmic prolongation were observed. Relaxin treatment (20 and 80 ng/ml) significantly increased calcified nodule formation on days 14 and 21. The cytochemical signals for ALP, RUNX2, and BMP2 gene expression were significantly (P < 0.05) increased by the relaxin treatment
