The agrammatism is a language production disorder which mainly affects the proper functioning of syntactic processor. This condition is typical of Broca’s aphasia but its etiology is as varied as are the causes that cause injury from head trauma to neurodegenerative diseases. In this context, the aim of this work is to design a speech therapy intervention that allows us in syntactic processing: grammatical functions, concordance and use of function words, and combined in different ways depending on the specific objective we want to achieve with each activity. A t the same time work the working memory span as basic cognitive ability that mediates this learning

Synthesis and catalytic activity of well-defined Co(i) complexes based on NHC–phosphane pincer ligands

A new methodology for the preparation of Co(I)–NHC (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene) complexes, namely, [Co(PCNHCP)(CO)2][Co(CO)4] (1) and [Co(PCNHCP)(CO)2]BF4 (2), has been developed (PCNHCP = 1,3-bis(2-(diphenylphosphanyl)ethyl)-imidazol-2-ylidene). Both complexes can be straightforwardly prepared by direct reaction of their parent imidazolium salts with the Co(0) complex Co2(CO)8. Complex 1 efficiently catalyses the reductive amination of furfural and levulinic acid employing silanes as reducing agents under mild conditions. Furfural has been converted into a variety of secondary and tertiary amines employing dimethyl carbonate as the solvent, while levulinic acid has been converted into pyrrolidines under solventless conditions. Dehydrocoupling of the silane to give polysilanes has been observed to occur as a side reaction of the hydrosilylation process

This study aimed to examine the influence of sport activities by peer groups and the family on the frequency of adolescents' participation in organized sport activities. A sample of 9,821 Spanish adolescent schoolchildren between the ages of 11 and 18 from the 2010 edition of the international study on Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children (HBSC) was used. The results obtained by means of an Answer Tree multivariate analysis indicated that gender was the best predictor of organized sport activity, with participation being notably higher in boys. As for the role of other variables, the practice of sport in peer and family activities were the most influential variables for boys. On the contrary, in the girls' case, age appeared as the first factor and the influence of sport in family activities and the peer group was different depending on age. In conclusion, family and peers seem to be significant influences on involvement in sport, despite having different roles according to the adolescents' gender and age

Development of model based sensors for the supervision of a solar dryer

Solar dryers are increasingly used in developing countries as an alternative to drying in open air, however the inherent variability of the drying conditions during day and along year drive the need for achieving low cost sensors that would enable to characterize the drying process and to react accordingly. This paper provides three different and complementary approaches for model based sensors that make use of the psychrometric properties of the air inside the drying chamber and the temperature oscillations of the wood along day. The simplest smart sensor, Smart-1, using only two Sensirion sensors, allows to estimate the accumulated water extracted from wood along a complete drying cycle with a correlation coefficient of 0.97. Smart-2 is a model based sensor that relays on the diffusion kinetics by means of assesing temperature and relative humidity of the air inside the kiln. Smart-2 model allows to determine the diffusivity, being the average value of D for the drying cycle studied equal to 5.14 × 10−10 m2 s−1 and equal to 5.12 × 10−10 m2 s−1 for two experiments respectively. The multidistributed supervision of the dryer shows up the lack of uniformity in drying conditions supported by the wood planks located in the inner or center of the drying chamber where constant drying rate kinetics predominate. Finally, Smart-3 indicates a decreasing efficiency along the drying process from 0.9 to 0.

Teaching adults with intellectual disability to combine symbols in a reading context

    Get PDF
The aim of this study is teaching adults con intellectual disability to combine symbols to convey semantic relations during shared reading. A single subject, multiple probe design across three different types of semantic relations generated from a matrix and replicated across three adults with moderate to severe intellectual disability was carried out. A prompts hierarchy in order to produce symbol combinations on an augmentative and alternative device was applied. Clear changes in trend and level were observed in the percentage of trained correct graphic-symbol combinations and the generalization of semantic relations to untrained combinations, and post-intervention maintenance of skills

According to the dual model of reading acquisition which argues the existence of two processors (direct and phonological ) to explain how the reader access the meaning of words, we studied the possible use of both types of processing tasks reading and word recognition using two types of measures (hits vs . mistakes and reading times or reaction according to the test). The study involved a group of cochlear implanted subjects (n = 20 ) and one normal hearing (n = 20) with a mean age of 9 years and 2 months and 9 years and 5 months respectively. The results suggest that the implanted subjects seem to use a phonological processing rather more pronounced , although appear to benefit significantly from context to access the lexical or visual route. A t the same time look good success in the lexical decision task , which involves a visual representation of the word

Comparison of multispectral indexes extracted from hyperspectral images for the assessment of fruit ripening

    Get PDF
The present research is focused on the application of artificial vision to assess the ripening of red skinned soft-flesh peach (‘Richlady’). Artificial vision allows a spatially detailed determination of the ripening stage of the fruit. The considered optical indexes (Ind1 and Ind2, proposed in the present research, and Ind3 and IAD, proposed by other authors) are based on the combination of wavelengths close to the chlorophyll absorption peak at 680 nm. Ind1 corresponds approximately to the depth of the absorption peak, and Ind2 corresponds to the relative absorption peak. An artificial image of each index was obtained by computing the corresponding reflectance images, which were acquired with a hyperspectral camera. All indexes were able to correct convexity (except for the just-harvested peaches and for Ind1). Ind2 is the preferred index; it showed the highest discriminating power between ripening stages and no influence of convexity. Ind2 also allowed the differentiation of ripening regions within the fruits, and it showed the evolution of those regions during ripening
