El tema desarrollado representa una aportación básica en el estudio de la física de la madera con futura aplicación industrial, en un campo de tanto interés económico como lo es el sector de la madera, especialmente en la fase preparatoria de la materia prima. La metodología desarrollada así como la ejecución de la misma se considera correcta y adecuada a los fines que se proponen. Las conclusiones obtenidas cumplen los objetivos previstos. La bibliografía utilizada es extensa y actual. Los equipos utilizados han sido los de los laboratorios de la Cátedra de Tecnología de la Madera, modernizados y subvencionados por el Ministerio de Industria y Energía a través de su programa de promoción de la industria manufacturera

What Drives Students' Loyalty-Formation in Social Media Learning Within a Personal Learning Environment Approach? The Moderating Role of Need for Cognition

Our study analyzes an educational experience based on the integrated use of social media within a higher education course under a personal learning environment approach and investigates the factors that determine students' loyalty to social media learning. We examined the moderating role of need for cognition (NFC) in students' formation of attitudes, satisfaction, and loyalty toward this learning experience. The results indicate that NFC has an influence on these variables, significantly moderating how loyalty toward social media learning is formed. For high-NFC students, satisfaction with the learning experience is the most important variable to explain loyalty; whereas for low-NFC students, attitudes have a stronger effect. Different strategies are suggested, according to the learners' NFC levels, for increasing the use of social media in personal learning environments. Robust clustering of functional directional data

Producción CientíficaA robust approach for clustering functional directional data is proposed. The proposal adapts “impartial trimming” techniques to this particular framework. Impartial trimming uses the dataset itself to tell us which appears to be the most outlying curves. A feasible algorithm is proposed for its practical implementation justified by some theoretical properties. A “warping” approach is also introduced which allows including controlled time warping in that robust clustering procedure to detect typical “templates”. Development of an Emergency Radio Beacon for Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Emergency locator transmitters (ELTs) used to locate manned aircrafts are not well suited to find and recover small crashed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). ELTs utilize an international satellite system for search and rescue (Cospas-Sarsat System), which should leverage its expensive resources to save lives as a priority. Besides, ELTs are too big and heavy to be used within small UAVs. Some of the existing solutions for this problem are based on receivers that detect signal strength, which may be a long and tedious process not suitable for user needs. Others do not have enough range or require radio license and expensive amateur radio receivers. This paper presents an emergency radio beacon specifically designed to locate small UAVs. It is triggered automatically in the event of a crash and allows finding and recovering a crashed UAV in a fast and simple way. It meets not only the required specifications of user-friendliness, size and weight of this kind of application, but also it is a high precision and low cost device. Besides, it has enough range and endurance. The experiments carried out show the operation of the proposed system

Design and implementation of a web-oriented system based on free software tools for the management of field practices at the University of Córdoba

En este documento se realizó un estudio de los lineamientos que rigen la realización de las prácticas de campo tanto en la Universidad de Córdoba como en otras instituciones de educación superior. Con el objeto de establecer la importancia de tener unas directrices claras emitidas por la alta dirección académica de una Institución para la ejecución de la práctica de campo fuera del campus universitario, que permitan la elaboración de las obligaciones, responsabilidades, políticas de operación, prohibiciones y regulación que deben estar presentes al momento de la realización de la práctica. Es un estudio que muestra la necesidad de comprender las situaciones (comportamiento, accidentes, emergencias, desarrollo de la práctica) que se pueden presentar en el ejercicio de llevar a cabo la realización de la práctica de campo, para así poder establecer directrices, afirmadas en un documento oficial emitido por la alta dirección académica, que defina el proceder por parte de los participantes de la práctica en una determinada situación. Es una tesis que da como resultado la identificación de lineamientos para la aprobación de las prácticas de campo, muestra la definición de formatos (autorización, guías, plan de la práctica) e identifica los lineamientos propios existentes en cada facultad académica en algunas Universidades. O por el contrario se rigen bajo una sola directriz institucional en cuanto a la normativa de la práctica de campo para todos los programas académicos, en el cual se establecen prohibiciones, responsabilidades y obligaciones para todos los participantes de la práctica. Por último, además del estudio de los lineamientos, señala la necesidad de diseñar e implementar un sistema orientado a la Web basado en el uso y análisis de herramientas de software libre para el manejo de la asignación de los recursos necesarios para la realización de la práctica de campo. Online media are undergoing a process of change in both production and distribution systems, in the role of audiences, in journalistic practices and in business models. In the case of online media which exclusively operate in the web, with no print of broadcast matrix, economic viability is even more complicated. This paper analyses the business models of three native online media in Spain: Bottup, Periodismohumano and Somos Malasaña. Ribonucleotides and manganese ions improve non-homologous end joining by human Polμ

Human DNA polymerase mu (Polμ), a family X member involved in DNA repair, has both template-directed and terminal transferase (template-independent) activities. In addition to their ability to incorporate untemplated nucleotides, another similarity between Polµ and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) is their promiscuity in using ribonucleotides (NTPs), whose physiological significance is presently unknown. As shown here, Polµ can use NTPs instead of deoxynucleotides (dNTPs) during non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) of non-complementary ends, a Polµ-specific task. Moreover, a physiological concentration of Mn 2+ ions did benefit Polµ-mediated NHEJ by improving the efficiency and accuracy of nucleotide insertion. Analysis of different mutations in the ‘steric gate’ of the active site indicated that Polµ is taking advantage of an open active site, valid for selecting alternative activating metal ions and nucleotides as substrates. This versatility would allow ad hoc selection of the most appropriate nucleotide/metal ion combination for individual NHEJ events to gain efficiency without a cost in terms of fidelity, thus widening the spectrum of available solutions to position a discontinuous template strand in proper register for connection

Este artículo forma parte de una más amplia investigación llevada a cabo en centros escolares con una muestra seleccionada de adolescentes de Educación Secundaria, distribuidos en grupos de discusión. La finalidad es conocer la perspectiva que ellos/as tienen sobre la violencia escolar en su propio hábitat. La muestra está compuesta por 1795 adolescentes de ambos sexos (52% chicos y 48% chicas) con edades comprendidas entre los 11 y 18 años, procedentes de la Comunidad Autónoma de Andalucía. Los resultados indicaron que el clima escolar y la satisfacción con la vida se asocian de manera positiva con la victimización. Además, la integración comunitaria y el clima familiar se relacionan con la victimización a través de la satisfacción con la vida. El análisis multigrupo en función del sexo indicó que la relación entre el clima escolar y la reputación social, así como entre implicación comunitaria y reputación social resultó significativa únicamente para los chicos.This article is included in a more extensive research done in schools with a selected sample of adolescents of Secondary Education, distributed in groups of discussion. The purpose is to know the perspective they have on schoolviolence in their own habitat. The sample is composed of 1795 adolescents of both sexes (52% boys and 48% girls) aged between 11 and 18 years, from the autonomous community of Andalusia. The results indicated that the school climate and the satisfaction with the life are positively associated with the victimization. In addition, community integration and the family climate are related to victimization through satisfaction with life. The gender-based Multigroup analysis indicated that the relationship between school climate and social reputation as well as between community involvement and social reputation was significant only for children

Inflación y desempleo en Colombia: NAIRU y tasa de desempleo compatible con alcanzar la meta de inflación (1984-2005)

Se estima una NAIRU que cambia en el tiempo de acuerdo con la composición de la fuerza laboral. Bajo este enfoque la NAIRU promedio para el período 1984- 2005 es 11,9%. Además, dada la existencia de metas de inflación, estimamos una curva de Phillips ampliada con una regla de formación de expectativas de inflación que tiene en cuenta tales metas. Esta estimación permitió calcular la "tasa de desempleo compatible con una inflación igual a la meta" (TADECIM) la cual también es cambiante en el tiempo.
